Tina Fey and Amy Poehler make news againIn the midst of mourning the loss of a weekly hour with Sara Shahi on Life, two bright and smiling faces emerged from the darkness and inspired a poem. Who can chase the blues away? (Hey, I’m a blogger, not the poet laureate.)
NBC announced yesterday that its half-hour Weekend Update will be a part of the Thursday night schedule next fall. And the network intends to invite Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to man, er, woman the news desk on a semi-regular basis.
The network’s thinking is that having the couple (yes, in my mind they are a couple) appear on Weekend Update will help promote the stars’ Thursday night comedies, 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation.
Fey’s 30 Rock has won Emmy after Emmy and is a favorite of critics and lesbians everywhere, but the show still hasn’t captured the kind of wide audience enjoyed by NBC Thursday night shows like Rock’s predecessors, Friends and Will & Grace. I’m not sure why; Tina Fey is one of the best comedy writers in the business and Liz Lemon is one of the most lovable characters on TV.
Parks and Recreation, which had an abbreviated season this spring, returns for a full season, but needs serious support to survive. Poehler is winsome as the awkward Leslie Knope and has a great supporting cast that includes Rashida Jones, but Parks just doesn’t quite work. I want to love this show; hopefully a full season of episodes will give the writers a chance to turn it into something special.
I’m not sure how popular Weekend Update will be without an election to fuel the funny, but I’ll take Tina and Amy however, whenever and wherever I can get them. Who’s with me?

Ooooh!
Parks
I like Parks and Recreation. It's so much better than I thought it would be and it's because of Amy and her style of comedy. And I absolutely love Tina on 30 Rock. I didn't think Thursdays could get any better, but I was wrong.
Now all NBC has to do is bring back Life and everything would be right in the world. :)
I think I just died and went to heaven.
Weekend Update is my favorite part of SNL, and a whole half hour every week with Amy & Tina sound too totaly awesome and perfect to be true.
I need to go jump around in exitment for a while.
Edit: I jump to the NBC link and was dissapointed to see that "The prime-time shows will be anchored by Seth Meyers" and that Amy&Tina will "serve as occasional guests at the “Update” desk."
Oh well, It's better then nothing.
Parks and Recreation

Very interested in watching that!
Living in Austria, I only recently got to watch 'Baby Mama' and haven't figured out where to watch 30 Rock from the start. But Baby Mama and what I've seen from Saturday Night Live completely convinced me that those two together are just an awesome team! I will definitely watch that once I move to the States, also because I just love creative, funny, smart, successful women. Very little beats that!

This is great news!
I love those two so much.
Parks and Recreation is hilarious though! I haven't missed an episode. Not quite a fan of Rashida Jones, but I'm liking Aubrey Plaza (who plays April). She's so cute! And funny...kinda reminds of Selma Blair sometimes. Hmmmmm.
There's some happy YouTubing
