"Smallville": Chloe and Lana give college students what they want

Shocking news from the Smallville set: Kristin Kreuk and Allison Mack are friends.

Not only do they get along on the set, but they're about to go into business together on a website geared to college students. The two are teaming up with Edgemont's Sarah Edmondson and Battlestar Galactica's Nicki Clyne for the project and have hit the interview circuit to talk it up. Only they won't say exactly what the site is.

"A lot of stuff about the website is actually quite secret," Mack told Buddy TV. "We want to keep our ideas close at hand so that we can really keep it unique and individual."

Meanwhile, Clyne has developed a survey to find out what college students would like to see on the site. I know what I'd like to see, but I doubt I'd get it even if I lied about my age. If any AfterEllen.com collegiate types would like to participate, here's the link.

Kreuk and Mack also talked about their Smallville characters, Lana Lang and Chloe Sullivan, and how they have changed over the past seven seasons.

Probably the most dramatic shifts have been in Kreuk's character Lana. When Smallville first started, Lana seemed to be an innocent, naïve girl.

Since then, she's gone postal once or twice and wants to destroy her hubby, Lex Luthor. As an actress, Kreuk couldn't have asked for more, especially as her relationship with Lex developed.

"I had a lot of fun working with Michael (Rosenbaum, who plays Lex Luthor) and got to explore a lot of really interesting parts of this character. It was also the first season I got some really juicy material to play with, which I always enjoy."

Mack's character, Chloe, is finding a new place in life as well, although she's still the snoopy reporter she was when Smallville premiered.

Now, however, Chloe has discovered her own superpower — she heals people and, in doing so, takes on their pain. This season she is exploring that part of her. "It's kind of fun because it's very similar to where Clark was in the beginning of the show, in that all these new things are happening in her body that she's kind of unaware of how to handle or utilize."

Buddy TV has an mp3 of their interview with Kreuk and Mack, in case you want to hear what else the lovely ladies had to say. And if you like spoilers, you'll find a few in their interview with KryptonSite.

Are you still watching Smallville? How has Supergirl's presence changed the dynamic of the show? Any hopes for where the writers will take the show once the strike is over?

    wow...

Well, once you get to the end of the survey, there's a question about how they did making it, and one of the options is "That's 10 minutes of my life I'll never get back."

That about sums up the survey. Apparently the site is going to be geared to women who spend all of their time shopping and partying, because that's what pretty much every single question is about. Plus the sequence of three questions about the very end asking if you'd drink a cup of your own vomit for increasingly high dollar amounts.

    Supergirl sucks!

I have been watching "Smallville" since Day One, and I love Kristin Kreuk and Allison Mack.  They and their characters have matured a great deal since the inception of the show.  However, the addition of Laura Vandevoort, who plays Kara (Supergirl), is annoying beyond belief.  Not the actress, the character.  All Kara does is fight with Clark and then fly off to God only knows where to sulk.  Real mature.  I hope the writers can come up with something better for her character to do when the show returns.

I also love Michael Rosenbaum, he plays Lex Luthor beautifully.  Just the right amount of menace.

Not so Super writing for Supergirl

I love Smallville but have been disappointed in the character portrayal and writing for Supergirl.  She sure isn't the Supergirl aka Linda Lee Danvers I remember from those comics growing up.  Sighhhh, I did have a great crush on Supergirl back then.

I hope they flesh out a better character this year if they are going to keep her in the show.
