"Prince Caspian" trailer — a reminder to keep the Aslan in ChristmasWith less than a week to go
until Christmas, Santa has come through with at least one thing on AfterEllen.com blogger
Jamie Lynn's list.
The trailer for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian has been released and, to the delight of Tilda Swinton fans everywhere, the White Witch is as terrifying as ever.
I'm sure the timing of the trailer's release — in the midst of the silly squabbling about whether Golden Compass is atheism's Pied Piper, leading children straight to hell — is pure coincidence, right? Ironically, C.S. Lewis, who wrote Narnia, would likely not approve of the Narnia series being held up as an apologetic for Christianity. Lewis wrote these stories for fun, to explore what might happen if a Christ figure were present in a fantasy world. But that's a rant for another day. Disney released the Prince Caspian trailer via a global broadcast and an online launch, marking the first time a trailer has debuted in that way. According to Disney, releasing the trailer to Narnia fan sites was a way to reward fans for their loyalty.
The story picks up as the Pevensie children return to Narnia, which is in turmoil. Although one year has passed for the children, 1300 have passed in Narnia. The evil King Miraz rules the land, but the children soon meet Narnia's rightful heir to the throne, Prince Caspian. Prince Caspian looks darker than its predecessor, and I think that's a good thing. I was disappointed that the dark side of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was so toned down. Much like the Harry Potter books and His Dark Materials, The Chronicles of Narnia are not, IMO, for the very young. The movies should be as intense as the books. The trailer for Prince Caspian shows promise that it will be. We'll find out when the movie's released in May 2008.
For now, you can find out what Narnia character you are most like with the Narnia Personality Test. I'm Mr. Tumnus, the faun who isn't the most reliable character in Narnia, but comes through in the end. Maybe identifying with Tumnus is a good sign for my social life, since I hear that girls just wanna have faun. Sorry. What Narnia character are you? Submitted by on December 19, 2007 - 1:30pm. |

looks like
Looks like the girl will get to use her bow and arrow more than once this time around. Maybe in the 3rd movie she'll wear pants! lol
I don't know the actress's name but she won me over when she snarked about how she wouldn't want to be like the Harry Potter actors.
mmm
"Prince Caspian" looks good...
It does look better and darker than the first one. I don't know how big a role Tilda Swinton has in this one, since they barely showed her in the trailer.
Sometimes I'm Aslan, sometimes I'm Lucy... depends on the day.
Prince Caspian
Prince Caspian is my favorite of the series so I am very much looking forward to this. The trailer doesn't do the story justice though -- So I am really hoping the movie itself does. It is darker than The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. :)

Love Narnia
Love the books, love all the older tv/cartoon adaptions & I loved the Lion, Witch & Wardrobe film (though admittedly it had it's faults...but still I'm just easily won over by any big screen version of the Narnia stories ;) )
I literally squealed out loud at work when I saw they had released the trailer for the new film. Can. not. wait. til it gets released!
I read Narnia when I was
I read Narnia when I was very young. I've read them all over and over dozens of times and every time I get something new from them. I also don't see the problem with the books being associated with Christianity - regardless of the author's intention that meaning is there for many readers, myself included.
Not sure how I feel about this trailer. For a start, the White Witch shouldn't be in Prince Caspian. I can think of one scene where they might shoehorn her in (inside Aslan's How with the werewolf and hag) but it could be for moments only. Why bother?
Don't get me wrong, I liked the first film. I'll probably like this one too. I also like nitpicking :-)
Prince Rilian
...brave, noble and intelligent, but easily misguided! Just make sure you don't go after any green women.
(green women? elphie? hehe)

This is on my must-watch list. I loved the first movie. I bought the book but I didn't like it so much..I think I would've appreciated it more if I read it as a kid. I'll give the books another shot though.
The trailer amped my excitement. :D
looking forward to this
Prince Caspian
I am so very excited about this movie!!!! I first saw the preview opening night of I Am Legend...
My result (fitting):
As Prince Caspian you are a noble, goodhearted but mischievous scallywag! Fun loving, you are admired for your easy going nature.
Duh me
Heh, that shot where they're on the beach totally made me go, "Hey, that looks just like a place in NZ". ...and then I realised. Oh well, I get there eventually.
I don't expect there to be too much Tilda - it's not as if Jadis actually features in the book (although of course the baddies are trying to bring her back).
preview good
