New "G.I. Joe" film makes the most of guns

Interesting thing about G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra: the reviews have been vicious. Yet, very few critics have actually seen the movie.

Honestly, though, I’m not sure I care all that much what the reviewers say. Here’s why:

In case you don’t recognize her, that’s Sienna Miller as The Baroness. You remember The Baroness, don’t you, with her raven hair and her leather outfit and her, um, guns?

Trust me, Miller uses those guns to full effect in Rise of Cobra. Take a look at this clip.

Miller isn’t alone in her hot, kick-ass ways, either. On the opposite side of the law stands Rachel Nichols (Alias) as Scarlett, part of the elite G.I. Joe team.

Scarlett and The Baroness have similar tastes in fashion.

Here’s Scarlett in action:

I know that clip is random, but I can’t be too critical when a woman looks that good in camo pants.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra opens August 7 — check out the film’s website for more info.

Are Miller and Nichols enough to get you to the theater for this one? Or do you need more than women with big guns to entice you?

    Uh, what?

That looks extremely terrible, judging from the few minutes in the clips. Bad script, bad acting, lame plot... Oh what the hell, the ladies look frikkin' awesome! I may have to watch it with the sound off to avoid slitting my wrists due to dialogue like, "Get out! Nice shoes," but I'll probably suffer through it to see Sienna in tight faux leather.

I'm the rainbow-coloured sheep of the family.

    Same here

That one line was enough for me to judge that this movie probably isn't going to be that good. But maybe I'll still watch it for the women...

    I need...

... more than hot chicks in leather and big guns. Yeah, the eye candy is nice, but so would having an actual plot. I'll probably wait for the video.

Enough for me, I love action

Enough for me, I love action and Rachel Nichols.  No one should expect a great plot, just enough to keep the action going.

    I feel the same

I'm a big fan of over-the-top action movies, and Sienna Miller as the Baroness is seriously making me want to dye my hair black again haha.  I'll definitely see this movie when it comes out, bad acting and poorly-written script notwithstanding

    Meh....

Not my cup of tea... They can do better than that. It's weird; there hasn't been a good Hollywood script for a while. The only thing we seem to get out of the dream factory is mediocre graphic novel adaptations...

    red head

Where ever there's a red head I'm there!

I'm one of the few people

I'm one of the few people here on earth who actually likes Sienna Miller yet I still don't think she is right for this part. Famke Janssen would had been prefect! awe-well I still can't wait to see this popcorn flick.

    -I speak in random thoughts

    LesBiDJ's picture

    Mmmm

Famke Janssen is indeed great in these types of roles, not to mention how gorgeous she is, but I'm afraid that, with her being cast as the bad girl again, The Baroness would have just ended up being Xenia Onatopp 2.0 haha

    I thought of Famke too

I thought of Famke too for this role, but as she's already been in X-Men and a Bond movie, its action franchise overkill.

I will see the movie, being a huge GIJoe fanatic from childhood

    Not enough for me..

But I'm really cheap. I might rent it when it's on dvd. Or maybe I'll just watch clips on youtube and look at stills from the movie.

Am I the only one who giggles when I hear the name of the movie? I can't believe they called it "GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra"....why yes..I am mature.

    Rachel Nichols

Didn't Rachel Nichols play (or was supposed to play) a lesbian character on TV somewhere? Her name jogged an old memory some where...

    Alias rumor

You may be thinking of a rumor that Rachel's character on Alias was a lesbian. That never materialized, though. If that was it, you have a great memory!

I know this movie will be

I know this movie will be mostly crap. Every trailer I see seems to promise that. And then I catch a few frames of Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols, or both (I think I recall seeing a clip of them fighting!), and I'm convinced to go see it. Or at least watch it when it comes out on DVD.

Oh, hormones, why must you betray me?

    Alcy's picture

    I will see it...

since I loved G.I Joe as a kid, my brother and I had a whole heap of the action figures and I watched all the cartoons. So I will definitely go and see this for its '80s nostalgia value.

And of course the two beautiful ladies in leather. I am shallow and I don't need anything more than hot chicks and big guns to enjoy a movie! I'm not expecting Oscar worthy material here, just lots of fun.

    80's Nostalgia!!

Good point!! Besides, The Baroness is a crazy woman who will cut a bitch. I love it!!

All I need is the promise of

All I need is the promise of hot chicks and action to watch a movie.  It looks like they've supplied both.  Surprisingly enough, bad acting doesn't really phase me (at least not in movies that have hot chicks and action).
    monica_ca's picture

    Of course I'll see it.

I'm 26 and grew up LOVING GI Joe...I was so obsessed as a child.  Even without the lovely ladies I would be seeing it.
    Brutal_Romance's picture

    oh well its The Baroness

and everyone knows you cant say no to The Baroness.

watching this makes me wana run around screaming COBBRRAAAA!!

I have a feeling that Thunder Cats would be on the way after this, I really hope they dont butcher it. 80's cartoons got enough insult from Transformers alone.

    Julie_328's picture

    Hehe

Those are exactly the same reasons I don't care what the critics are saying and will be throwing away good money and suffering through a completely brainless film (if it is one) if I have to. ;)

Oh, that Baroness looks good...  And with glasses - doesn't that just "up" the sexiness factor in her case??  :P

    are you?'s picture

    one word:

    sienna. that's enough for me.
    happykt's picture

It reminds me of Transformers 2

GI Joe reminds me of Transformers 2, which was one of the worst movies I've seen in my life, and I've seen 1,000s of them.  The only reason to see this film would be the eye candy.
