Michelle Williams may be Oscar-bound for "Wendy and Lucy"The best testament to Michelle Williams' acting ability may be that I had to look up her character’s name from Dawson’s Creek. It was Jen — Jen Lindley.
Williams broke out of the teenage bad-girl role fairly quickly when she was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress role for Brokeback Mountain. Her performance was heart wrenching.
While her talent took a temporary back seat to her relationship with Heath Ledger in the wake of his death, independent film Wendy and Lucy promises to remind us why she got that Oscar nomination.
Williams plays Wendy Carroll, an unemployed woman who heads to Alaska with her dog Lucy in hopes of finding a good job at the Northwestern Fish cannery. Since she has no money, Wendy travels and lives in her worn-out Honda until it breaks down and Lucy disappears. The film isn’t exactly fun and games, but according to a Cinematical review after Wendy and Lucy was shown at Cannes, Williams’ performance reveals a new depth in her acting ability: Because the film focuses entirely on Wendy and her relationship with her dog, Williams has to carry the film entirely, and she does so remarkably… she’s grown tremendously over the past few years [and] she may finally be moving into a new realm in her career.
Spoiler for animal lovers: Lucy is OK. If you’re like me, you won’t see the film unless you know that. Take a look at the trailer and let me know what you think. Will you see Wendy and Lucy? Is Michelle Williams on the verge of major stardom? Will you ever be able to watch her without thinking of Chloë Sevigny?

Ah, Amy and Linda
my first true brush with lesbian film.
Michelle Williams is an amazing actress - I bawled my eyes out during the 8 or 9 times I watched Brokeback Mountain, but the first time I truly sobbed into my sleeves was when Alma looked out, saw Jack and Ennis kissing, and headed straight back into the house with that amazing look on her face. I just cried till I was dry. And I'm not the weepy sort. Perhaps it's me, but she has the ability to melt into her character, to the point where you don't see her anymore. She looks the same, but it's no longer her.
that one
immediately made it on my must see list after seeing the trailer. it has a "last days" feel to it. seemingly brilliant it's quite a risk havingthe movie on only one person's shoulder. if the trailer is any indication michelle williams WILL be nominated for an oscar again. and if she doesn't win for this one I dunno what she has to do....

Linster, you read my mind!
Despite all she has accomplished and all she has been through, I can never see Michelle Williams without heaving a sigh for Chloe Sevigny. That segment of "If These Walls Could Talk 2" could have been written about me and my friends in the 1970's and Chloe could have been the intensely compelling little butch who changed my way of thinking about so many things!

Great to see her!
It's great to see she's back :-)

Taking off - the novel, coming soon. Starring Katie, a lesbian in London...
In the meanwhile, read reviews of films and books with lesbian/bi characters and/or taking place in London at www.takingoff.org
Oh, wow.
I didn't even think to make that association between ITWCT 2. She's really matured into an acting force.
I read somewhere that Wendy and Lucy is only eighty minutes long, so I can see where the script is dependent upon such an actor to carry it.
Looking forward to the screening, =).
Inkblots.
I really want to see this!
Michelle Williams
She has always been very
She has always been very talented like all of the kids on the creek.
Lucy
Indie films are love
This movie looks incredible. From the trailer alone I can guarantee that I'm going to love it which I can say definitely does not happen very often. Can't wait for it to come out.

Interesting...
..to say the least.
I have always thought she was a damn good actress. Even on Dawson, she really brought a lot of depth to Jen. She was my favorite character.
She has proven herself on stage, TV and film. I wish her much success but I really hope she doesn't become a huge world wide phenomenon. I'd like to see her emulate Jennifer Jason Leigh's career. But with more frequency. Or maybe Naomi Watts. A go-to actress who will take any role, big, small or whatever, and just run with it.
awww doggy. this looks
awww doggy.
this looks like a good one. I've always appreciated her acting ability and I'm happy she's starting to get some recognition for her role choices.
Puppies!!!
Thank you for the spoiler. Much appreciated. I'm the same, I can't watch a film without knowing whether the animals in it are gona be okay or not. "Year of the Dog" screwed me up real bad 'cause I didn't know "that" was gona happen.. ah, but that's another story. I can't wait for this new film! Sounds a little like "Into the Wild" which I found mesmerizing. Cheers.
Sounds cool
I have to admit, I only know her from If these Walls Could Talk and Brokeback Mountain (never been a Dawson's fan) but in both of them she was rather good :) Can't wait for its release^^
I guess I am like you...
... 'cause I was ready to miss out on this movie if the dog wasn't okay - and I think Michelle Williams is great and deserves all the praise she can get, so I definitely want to see this. I'm just a really big animal lover, and can't stand it when animals are hurt, killed or simply dies in ANY way.
So thank you very much for that little happy spoiler. :o)
That's right, I said it!
