Kristen Wiig goes glam for "V Magazine"
We already know Kristen Wiig is quite a character, but this is a new approach, even for her. The latest issue of V Magazine features an interview with Wiig along with some very unique looks, including Brigitte Bardot as a Geisha, Frida Kahlo in Bollywood and Carmen Miranda as a Vegas showgirl.
You must admit, the woman looks good with fruit on her head. And even though V is definitely a style mag, Wiig vehemently disagrees with the assertion, made most recently in Vanity Fair, that a woman has to be pretty to get a laugh.
“I think that if you're funny and people respond to you, it shouldn't matter what you look like. I guess I don't believe in ‘have tos’ when it comes to that kind of stuff," she tells V.
According to Saturday Night Live costar Jason Sudeikis, putting on new characters comes naturally to Wiig — mainly because she lived so many lives before SNL. He told the magazine, “She’s had a bunch of crazy jobs and crazy haircuts and has lived in about a dozen cities. And there’s always a time when she’ll say, 'Well, when I was a florist,’ or ‘When I sold peaches on the street,’ or ‘When I went to massage school…’ She’s a journeyman who can start a sentence from any number of non sequiturs.”
Not surprisingly, Wiig is going the way of successful SNL-ers before her — to the big screen. She has a dramatic role in the upcoming All Good Things and is featured in the comedies Paul, Despicable Me, How to Train Your Dragon and Ass Backwards. And, of course, she’s in the SNL skit-turned-movie, MacGruber.
If the movies are hits, we may not be seeing Wiig on SNL much longer, which would be a shame for the show since she is its funniest cast member. But her star definitely is on the rise — and I look forward to laughing with her all the way to the top.
For the rest of the interview with Kristen Wiig, check out the current issue of V (so far, the article is not online). What is your favorite Wiiged-out character?

I adore Kristen Wiig
For some reason, these pictures remind me of this video where she's reading excerpts from Suzanne Somers's book of poetry (hilarious in and of itself.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unD2bzhDkLk
I love the characters she creates on SNL. For me, nothing beats the one where she's singing with the mutant baby hands and a forehead that would out-Tyra Banks Tyra Banks. Kristen Wiig needs to be in everything.

That Lawrence Welk Sketch...
makes me laugh so hard that stuff comes out my nose.
I also like the surprise party sketch (though the original was the best and all the follow-ups have been a bit boring).
She is intrinsically funny. Kind of like Amy Sedaris.
She is the only reason I
Gosh, I'm so in love with
Gosh, I'm so in love with her. This spread is AWESOME!. Definitely the most talented and funniest person currently on SNL.
And she's so cute! :)
brilliant
She really is the only
LOL
I love the Target Skits.. Just to damn funny, yup it is a shame.. seems the real funny ones always end up leaving sooner then later and then we have wait and wait for that someone new to come along and catch our funny bone attention... and as for the comment the Mag made only a pretty woman can be funny.. I say well step back and take a historical look.
Carol Burnette ( My all time personal Fav BTW ) is not what you would consider a drop dead georgous woman , but she was/is a sheer genious of comedy.
The Late but very great Gilda Radner original SNL Funny Lady and greatly missed. That wild cray hair of hers was to funny in it's self.
Imogene Coca ( for the really young watch National Lampoons Vacation.. Aunt Edna ) She was an Comedic actress She had her own Show, was on alot of the Live comedy shows in the late 50's and 60's but when she was teamed with Sid Ceasar it was comedy magic ! Very Funny Lady great at the Improv.
Cheri Oteri Another SNL Allum, Her potral of Arianna Cheerleader, Cass Vanrye co host of Morning Latte, and the Addited Prescrition woman..OMG to funny
Molly Shannon What more Do I have to say except every Character and her stint on Will and Grace.
Basically what I am sying is these woman are beautiful in their own ways, but as we all know not considered what the so callled Beautiful People Magazines type for their spokes person or female lead for a Romantic Comedy....
I just dont get why it is okay for a man to be what I consider butt ugly and the poster child of sitting on the couch eating a corn dogs and watching midgit wrestling, can get a leading man role, get a hot looking babe and his character be complete a 90 lbs wuss or arogent over weight Butt munch or vice versa !!
But the if the woman is not considered a 10 or atleast a 9 1/2 She is not going to get the GQ man or GQ woman if ya wanna get technical ..in the movie ??
Well that this was just my opinion...:)
favorite!!
One word.
Penelope.
(kristen wiig is love)
Love her!!
I love her so much and just like most of the other posters she is really the only reason we watch SNL anymore, her and the very rare times when Amy Poehler and Tina Fey show up. Favorite characters would have to be Penelope, the target lady, the nervous travel lady on weekend update and her singing with Fred A. on weekend update!!
