Kristen Wiig gets "Bored to Death"

I have a crush on Kristen Wiig.

I know I’m not alone. Her Saturday Night Live characters like the Target Lady and Penelope have made her one of the most popular SNL players in recent years. In fact, Wiig has appeared in more sketches this season than any other cast member.

Her impressions are spot-on as well. Wiig’s Nancy Pelosi has gotten the most airtime, but my personal favorite is her take on Suze Orman.

For now, Wiig’s roles outside of SNL have been limited, but I make space on the DVR whenever I see her name. So I’m delighted to see her in the teaser for HBO’s new comedy, Bored to Death.

The premise for Bored isn’t new (a writer and detective novel fan moonlights as a P.I.), but if the lineup in the trailer is any indication, we’re in for a treat.

Besides Wiig and Bored to Death lead Jason Schwartzman, I spotted Parker Posey, Ted Danson, Zach Galifianakis — and New York City. That’s a lot of star power for 40 seconds. Others slated to appear include Bebe Neuwirth, Sarah Vowell, Olivia Thirlby and (squee!) John Hodgman. And Bored’s writer is Jonathan Ames, a very funny writer whom I’ve heard on The Moth podcast. I am so in.

What do you think? Does Bored to Death spark your interest?

    I have a confession

I have a crush on Kristen Wiig too! I think she was in so many sketches because she's the only woman on the cast last season, all of he other women were "featuring." What's up with that? I guess so many of their women have been moving on to their own projects.

I actually have a confession to make. I've had a crush on her ever since she was on the Joe Schmo Show. Does anyone remember that/willing to admit to watching it? It was a fake reality where the sweetest guy ever was featured. He thought that he was on a real reality show and all of the other contestants were actors and everything was staged. Wiig played Dr. Pat and I remember looking forward to every moment she had on screen! I was so psyched when I learned that she was going to be on SNL! Looking at her imdb page, I guess that was the beginning of everything. I feel like I witnessed hotness history!

    I'd watch it IF

Krisen Wiig was the lead, not mopey-ass Jason Schwartzman.

    Pass.

    Wiig Crusher

When I saw her Hot Air Baloon skit I nearly wet myself and then made it my mission to find every skit of her ever. Suze is hilarious.

Only thing I liked about Knocked Up was her and that was before I knew she did SNL.

What about Kristen Wiig's Lesbian reporter on SNL????

Who else adores Kristen Wiig's bumbling, tongue tied lesbian reporter character??? The one that tried and failed to seduce Scarlet Johnsen and Jaimie Presley when they guested on the show. I really think that character should have her own show!

    LOVE that character

I have such a crush on Kristen Wiig it's ridiculous. My girlfriend just rolls her eyes whenever she's on TV or I talk/obsess about her.

I really hope this show is good!

    AH!

I'll definitely be watching.  I love the whole cast!  I've loved Jason Schwartzman's acting ever since I saw I Heart Huckabees (yah, I have really weird taste).
