Kate French and Kristanna Loken are bodies of art

Auto-Straddle’s Daily Fix (which you should add to your blog reader immediately) linked an interview from Inked magazine that features two lovely L Word ladies, Kate French and Kristanna Loken, and the tattoos they love.

French, who got her first tattoo when she was 17, has lyrics from Ryan Adams’ song “Blue Hotel” inked on her ribcage: “Go on and rain down on us because I give up.”

Her favorite tattoo, however, is the one on the inside of her right arm: “Remember to breathe.” No doubt, that came in handy when she was under the covers with Jenny.

Most of Loken’s tattoos are symbols from voodoo, which she says got a bad rap because slaves who practiced the religion used to put hexes on their owners.

Has anyone seen Michelle Rodriguez lately?

Several of Loken’s tattoos have come as a way to celebrate finishing a project. She didn’t mention if she has an L Word-related tattoo, but she did talk about how the show helped her be more open about her sexuality:

I really enjoyed being a part of that show because it showed same-sex relationships in a semi-normal atmosphere. Being open about who you are and who you choose to love is vital for our generation. My sister is a lesbian and she's always taught me that you can love whomever you choose. When you're bisexual, you're not one or the other, so you kind of get discredited by both [straight and gay communities] but I've gotten letters from girls who've said, "Thanks so much for telling me how you feel. Now I feel normal." And that's great.

Also featured in the interview are The Big Lebowski’s Bree Turner and Eve Mauro, who will appear with Will Farrell in Land of the Lost this summer.

    Thanks for putting that pic up, I was thinking the same thing! Lena's got more tats than any celeb I've seen! When's Inked gonna interview her, I wonder?

    I love this Lena quote about her tats from a recent interview:

    What's your favorite tattoo?

    LH: I like them all really. I've just had my back piece finished and I love that. It's a big piece on my back with peonies and swallows. It's got a lot of movement in it, and it's just something I'd always wanted to do. It goes from my lower back, it sort of curls around my womanly shapes, and then it just comes up around my shoulder.

    Where did you have that done?
    LH:I had that done in Brooklyn in New York, by a friend of mine called Chops who has a shop called Hold Fast. He's now moved to Portland, but he came to stay with us, and he finished it off for me here in Los Angeles.
    How many hours under the needle was that?
    LH: I'd say seven, on and off. But I fell asleep during the last one. I find it incredibly relaxing.
    The pain doesn't bother you at all?
    LH: Sometimes, on various bits, on various parts of my body it does, but Chops is really wonderful. He's very fast and he's one of the most lovely men in the world. He did Rob's arm, and he did a couple of tattoos on Bobbi. We all went round to Bobbi's for dinner and he brought his tattoo kit. We had dinner, and then we had a little bit of ink.

    Color me stupid, but I had no idea Lena was so heavily inked.  That casts her in a whole new light for me. Yummy, tasty!

    In sugar rush, she has this sex scene, and her tattoos are amazingly hot in it.

    I vote for her every year in the hot 100, but she never makes it :(

    Good Lord, Sarah Jane looks so much like her brother with short hair.  You can almost forget they are siblings while watching her as Saint.  Love the pic of her and Jemima too.

    Loved Sugar Rush and love Primeval, Hannah Spearitt is so cute.

    Tattoo wise I just got my 8th a few months ago, a cupcake on my left inner wrist.  My gf got her first two within the last few months and I love them on her, it's so sexy especially she waited for years so she picked really well.  The large dragon on my lower back was what attracted me to her over 8 years ago, she spotted me dancing on stage with a backless top and she loves dragons so it's what caught her eye.  So tattoos are wonderful in my opinion because they helped me find my soulmate!

    Sara Quin (my um, future wife) has gorgeous tattoos. Then again, I think anything's gorgeous on her. I'm not a big fan of word tattoos, and tattoos in Chinese do tend to make me laugh a bit (do you guys REALLY know what they mean?). I also tend more towards less girly tattoos. BUT, Lena Headey's tattoos are always amazing. She manages to take flowers and butterflies and make them into gorgeous, fierce aggressive pieces without them looking stupid. and the colours look so amazing on her gorgeous skin.

    I was thinking the same thing about Chinese words as tattoos. I don't really know what to think about Spice Girls' Mel C Chinese version of Girl power, inked 女力. Literally means woman/ strength... But it looks good on her though

    Got my first at 18 and then as soon as i can afford another (and sometimes even before i can) i'm under the needle again...right now i've got nine and plan on hitting double digits sometime really soon...i went to get one in austin tx and was thwarted by an astounding lack of talent in that city, literally every place i went said they couldn't do it, when my shop (shout out to redemption tattoo in cambridge MA) had already told me no problem...soon, so very soon....

    I read Inked's interviews with Dita Von Teese and Scott Weiland the other day :)

    Right off the top of my head: Lena Headey, Sarah Jane Potts, Kat Von D, Natasha Kai - some of my favorite tattooed ladies. I have an appointment to get another tattoo in 2 weeks... Heh.

    I really can't help myself around tattoo'd ladies. Or around tattoos in general. If I don't stop getting them I'm going to be even more broke than I already am. I just love tattoos so much, it's tragic. All of these pictures were quite spectacular. Thank you ladies. :D

    I think she has the most beautiful tattoos in the world!^^ she has like 13 tattoos (but small ones). My favorite is the "This too shall pass" one or maybe the "float" one, written on a side of her neck.
