Julianne Moore and Annette Bening play a lesbian couple in “The Kids Are All Right”

I was pretty lucky in the parent department, but I have to admit that this thought gave me pause. Imagine having Julianne Moore and Annette Bening as your moms. According to a tip by AfterEllen.com reader indie, we’re going to get to see what that would be like, at least onscreen. Here’s the official synopsis of The Kids Are All Right:

Nic and Jules have raised two smart and wonderful kids, Joni.and Laser. When Joni turns 18, she and Laser meet their biological sperm donor father, Paul, and his presence in their lives causes friction within their family.
Mia Wasikowska (Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland) and Josh Hutcherson (Journey to the Center of the Earth) play the siblings who decide to find their lesbian moms’ sperm donor. Bening and Moore play the lesbian moms, Nic and Jules. The donor turns out to be cutie Mark Ruffalo. Well, not the real Mark Ruffalo, but the character he plays, Paul. Yes, it’s another lesbian movie about sperm donors. But the good news is that the writer/director for Kids is out lesbian Lisa Cholodenko (partner of Wendy Melvoin of Wendy and Lisa fame), who also wrote and directed High Art. No word yet on whether it’s a drama or a comedy, but let’s hope having Family Friends like Bening and Moore involved will raise it above the usual turkey baster yuk-fest – or yuck fest, as the case may be.

Does The Kids Are All Right look like a winner? If you could have two moms, who would they be?
