Julianne Moore and Annette Bening play a lesbian couple in "The Kids Are All Right"

my only problem with this...

what the hell were they smoking when they came up with naming the kid Laser? Who names a child that?

Hmm, I'm gonna have to reserve judgement until I see the film, but somehow I'm not imagining much chemistry between these two.  I like both actresses, but they just seem like an odd pairing. I don't know, I'm sure they'll pull it off beautifully.  Plus, who doesn't love seeing classy, sexy, beautiful women in lesbian roles? 

I think Stuntdouble posed a similar question about lesbian moms in some long ago blog post, and my answer remains - Vivien and Cay from Desert Hearts!  A reserved, intellectual type and a fun-loving free spirit.  Nice balance.

On a side note - How funny that Wendy would end up with a woman also named Lisa.  I did not know that.  Sigh.. just the mention of Wendy & Lisa makes me miss The Revolution.

After the remake of The women I dont really  like annette bening anymore, and she does not match with Julianne Moore.. I think they should switch her with Maria Bello 

They should also recast the part of the daughter...Leighton Meester would be perfect, she look so much like julianne.

Regardless its great seeing such well known actresses portraying a lesbian couple!!

What do you get when you mix Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, and Mark Ruffalo in a comedy? .......... which I believe works better for the story.

Yeah, great cast and great director! 

I just hope Cholodenko is a little over films ending with every relationship in shambles due to death (High Art) or infidelity (Laurel Canyon)!  I don't needhappy endings and easy closure, but maybe not so unhappy... just this once?

I know a lot of gals loved the movie "High Art" but I found it depressing as hell.

I hope 'Wendy' of Wendy and Lisa fame produces a fantastic film with two power houses like Julianna Moore (who is one of my favorite actresses) and Annette Benning (who is always superb.)

If one of their characters ends up falling for Mark's character or dying, I'm going to lose it!!!!

my superhot girlfriend has two wonderful moms who she loves and adores and she was concieved through AI- we've talked about this before and she does not care at all about meeting her sperm donor. ever.

she is well above age now and knows many other adult ai-concieved people ... this movie seems a little unrealistic and heteronormative to me even though the author is a lesbian. i think its silly to think kids of lesbian moms will somehow always wish they could meet their donor...i mean thats why its "donor" and not "father". just a thought, although i love julianne moore.

Annette is still pretty for her age. And Julianne Moore, she's part of that 5% hot red heads. Move over carrot top, you've got some competition.

Higher Art was not an uplifting movie so I can't imagine this one will be either. And as Danygirl said, the whole concept seems a bit hetero normative. Nevertheless, It will be interesting to see what type of chemistry Moore and Bening have. I know personally, I find them to be a bit of a mismatch. But who knows. We may be pleasantly surprised.

Personally I think its GREAT!! any visibility we get in a positive light especially about "lesbian moms" with two strong Hollywood leading ladies...

It could be a great movie, and we don't see that kind of top actresses cast for a lesbian storyline very often, so I'll definitely give it a chance.

Extra point : Mark Ruffalo is awesome and underrated.

I like Julianne Moore... Annette Bening too..  I sure hope they can pull off a chemistry between them..hahaha...

I have always wanted to see Annette in a lesbian role so this is totally awesome AND for it to be with Julianne is just like the icing on the cake.
