“I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With” — well, who doesn't?

No, this isn’t a personal ad, but if I ever sign up for match.com, I will totally use that headline. I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With is an indie film starring Jeff Garlin of Curb Your Enthusiasm plus two of my favorite funny ladies, Sarah Silverman and Bonnie Hunt.

The plot of Cheese — Garlin plays an actor/improviser named James living at home with his mom and looking for love — doesn’t get points for originality, but the movie got positive buzz at last year’s Tribeca and L.A. film festivals. Part of the appeal is that Garlin, who also wrote and directed the film, makes himself the butt of jokes and takes advantage of the comedic styles of his costars.

Silverman plays Beth, the counter girl in an ice-cream shop, who encourages James with a conversation full of sexual innuendo and an invitation to go shopping for kinky underwear with her. (Thankfully, the shopping trip is part of the film.) Making Beth the lecherous flirt is a welcome twist on the usual macho courting ritual.

In contrast, Hunt plays Stella, a slightly awkward schoolteacher who shares James’ love of jazz. Stella is more suited to James, but not as titillating as Beth — although we apparently get to see Hunt in a tight leather outfit. Sounds good to me. I love me some Bonnie Hunt, no matter what she’s wearing.

Other cast members that catch my interest are Amy Sedaris as a school counselor and Gina Gershon in a cameo that reportedly is hilarious. The movie opens in limited release this week; if you get to see it, please tell us what you think. Meanwhile, here’s the trailer.

I'd heard about the film in passing...

and who doesn't love sarah silverman...

i saw the trailer on apple.com (good for learning about a lot of films you wouldn't usually hear about...)

and i laughed my ass off.

that doesn't happen often with a trailer.

so i'm definitely looking forward to this.

    Me

and who doesn't love sarah silverman...

    Me.

She lost me completely, utterly and absolutely at her bit about dead African babies.

No, I do not need to be schooled about satire. I read "The Devil's Dictionary" at 14, somehow managed to get through "Huckleberry Finn" without my head exploding, and plowed through the cooking suggestions in "A Modest Proposal" to get to the good stuff at the end.

Swift was making statement. Silverman - lord knows ...

Which is too bad because I adore Bonnie Hunt.

    And...

...what is up with the fact that Jimmy Kimmel, who, to put it bluntly, is a homophobic, misogynist jerk, is her boyfriend?

P.S. I really like Bonnie Hunt too.
