Fox shuts down "Dollhouse"Oh, Echo, you tried to save the world but couldn’t save yourself.
The Hollywood Reporter just announced that Fox has canceled Dollhouse, which was miraculously renewed for a second season after poor ratings in Season 1. Even though the numbers have been up, especially in DVR and online viewings, Fox essentially hung the anvil over Dollhouse when it pulled the show from November sweeps.
For now, Fox promises to air the rest of the series, staring Dec. 4, making Jan. 22 the series finale. Let’s just hope that nobody wipes the network’s memory before they make good on that promise. We’ll keep you posted when more details emerge. Submitted by on November 11, 2009 - 5:00pm. |

Though I'm sad to see a Joss Whedon creation get the ax, I must say I've never been all that taken with Eliza Dushku's acting.

Why does Joss insist on putting his shows on Fox? They all get cancelled eventually before it reaches the glory point. It should have gone to sci-fi channel or something.
I hope he goes back to firefly, but that's just wishful thinking. (Or at least serenity 2).

Eliza Dushku cast as the main star was a mistake. This show probably would had made it if they cast someone like Shannon Elizabeth, or Tabrett Bethell as their star.

Waiting for DVD
While I count myself as a Joss fan, I have never watched a single episode of "Dollhouse." I only got into "Buffy," "Angel," and "Firefly" after they were cancelled, so maybe now I'll catch up on "Dollhouse" on DVD.
I wonder what would happen if Joss made a show for HBO or Showtime. Even more sexy, violent good times, perhaps.

I tried to like Dollhouse but couldn't
I like Eliza, I adore sci fi but I couldn't get into this Dollhouse, despite watching almost every single episode.
I hated the fact that men and women were mindless body slaves, under the control of an evil corporation. I thought that the premise of the show was creepy, sad, and gross and suspect a lot of other people thought so too.
Slavery by any other name is still slavery -- that these 'dolls' has their memories wiped was depressing as hell.
But that was the point :)
But that was the point :) You weren't supposed to like the 'slavery' you were supposed to root for the Dolls getting out of there, and for the instigators to come to their senses and turn it on its head.
Maybe most people just havn't got the ability to open their minds and see a little deeper :/

Just because I perceive this show differently than you, doesn't mean you had to insult me by calling me narrow-minded. Maybe you have to practice being a bit more open minded yourself.
I watched every episode of DH and didn't like it. I found it sad, depressing and pointless.

I liked this show for being different, slavery or not...they were getting to the good stuff finally and this is what happens?
I hope Joss learns his fu*king lesson and stops dicking around with networks. He and his projects deserve cable or Hollywood money already. I guess this means that Dollhouse comic book is coming sooner than I thought. Sigh. He already has my money why does he need more?!?!!?

one of my favorite show's
is gone. Due to Fox and how they run things. But alas ratings were not so good. But it was the dl'ed show on itunes and they didn't count women like me who watch shows online or tivo'd the show. Really dumb.
