Famke goes down on "The Farm"Before I drop this piece of saliva-inducing news, let me be clear that it falls firmly in the rumor category. In fact, only one site in the vast conspiracy of internets mentions this tidbit — and relies on an anonymous source for the info. So why am I telling you? Because I’m testing out the whole “create your own reality” concept — and this is a reality I really want to create: Famke Janssen in The L Word spin-off, The Farm.
Six Degrees of Everything reports that Janssen plays an inmate in the 20-minute video that will be presented to Showtime in hopes they’ll develop The Farm: Although we don’t have a confirmed sighting by one of my sources Famke Janssen was supposed to have been on set [in Vancouver] playing a prisoner being shackled and getting interrogated. The name Famke was confirmed when one of my sources heard "That’s a wrap for Famke" and the presence of Famke Janssen was talked about by a bunch of extras who had run into her in the make-up trailer. A commenter followed up with news that “we can be sure that Famke is in it” because she was spotted with her dog at the Vancouver airport the week of the shoot. Um, OK.
Not exactly bubbling with credibility, is it? But my fingers definitely are glued in the crossed position until further notice. In case your brain has been on break like mine has, here’s a brief overview of what we know for sure: The Farm is about a women’s prison for felony offenders and stars Leisha Hailey. She continues her role as Alice Pieszecki, who now is incarcerated for reasons unknown, but probably related to what and who goes down in the final season of The L Word. (I said “goes down.” Heh-heh.)
“The Farm” refers to a section of California’s Humboldt State Farm and Prison for Women, sort of like Emerald City was in Oz or the G-Wing is in Bad Girls. The other wing featured in the series is called “The Jungle.” So far, this is the one and only picture we have of the set.
According to Six, Alice initially is assigned to The Jungle. However, another inmate assigned to The Farm wants to “be with her home girls” in The Jungle, so she and Alice trade places. And nobody notices? OK, Ilene. Whatever.
Word is that
Melissa Leo, aka Helena Peabody’s ex, plays correctional officer Helen Miller. Leo is listed in the cast for The Farm on IMDb, so this rumor actually has a bit of substance behind it. I hope we get to see the rest of that tattoo.
Although I remain skeptical about this project, I have to admit that I like these casting rumors. I like them a lot. And for now, I’m adopting a daily practice of visualizing Famke Janssen as a lesbian prisoner. It’s the least I can do for the world. Assuming the reports are correct, what do you think about The Farm cast so far? Who else would you like to see in prison with Alice? Is anyone else hoping Peggy Peabody will stop by for a visit?

Why would IC want to have the setting for the spin-off in prison? I thought that an American version of "Bad Girls" was already in the works. Does IC really think that we need/can support two women's prison shows like that?
BUT! If Famke is there, I don't care WHERE it's set...I'll be watching :)

Ican't remember where I read this. But the last i herd was that the American version of Bad Girls is put on hold indefinitely. I think the creators of the original one were having issues about signing rights over to Alan Ball.

If those Famke rumors or true I might just die. I mean it was already enough for me to have the spin-off be about Alice, but to add Famke to the equation is like shaping chocolate to look like a bunny. You don't really need to do that to make the chocolate awesome, but its even better now that you did.
Also, this won't be the first time that Famke plays a lesbian (assuming that she will in The Farm). Has anyone else seen Eulogy? Its pretty much the greatest movie ever.

I'm not the only one who thinks that the L word spin off set in a women's prison is a bad idea. I can't even stand the British version of Bad Girls, I certainly don't think we need to set our sweet Alice in the American version.

I read that original blogpost differently. wasn't it written that alice is "sent to “The Jungle” because one of the other inmates on her bus wants to be “with her home girls” in “The Jungle” and the warden won’t give her what she wants on principle. So she has to swap places with Leisha, I mean Alice."?
The way I understand that is that Alice was supposed to be in the farm, but cos that other girl wanted to be in the jungle and the warden won't let her have her way that girl gets sent to the farm and alice is the substitute who in return is sent to the jungle.so of course people notice. sounds like the warden is responsible for the switch unless I totally got that wrong.

though it would be great if this were true i find 1 loophole in your sources quote...extras do not mingle with actors or actresses in the hair and makeup trailer. Extras stay in a holding area until they are needed and do their own hair and makeup unless a specific look is wanted, then additional hair and makeup people go to the holding area and beatify the extras.
also i am intrigued by the show especially the Laurie metcalf rumor but I just think this show is a big rip off of Bad Girls, just look at the character names and descriptions...

Wow trusting that Ilene will keep Alice's character the same, then this should indeed be a comedy right? if so, i'm down with it, it sounds great! Alice in prison! holy crap this should be good....sad tho cause obviously she won't be with Tasha...but i'm sure some funny stuff can be done here...I hope Angela Robinson is going to be the primary writer/director cause she's AMAZING!

Alice's/Leisha's spinoff is about her going to jail? so does this pretty much mean that alice kills jenny? if she did, i'm sure there's some explanation...or not. sometimes l word just doesn't explain some things...
BTW, i'm not really a fan of blondes, but from the pic above with all the ladies wearing black dresses? TINA is looking sooo hott! ever since last season, i've been amazed how i never paid attention on how gorgeous is...maybe it's subtle beauty...or maybe she just got much more hott..
