Fall TV: What's off your TiVo?

We're more than a month into the Fall TV season — time enough to figure out which shows we don't want to miss and which ones we miss on purpose. Sarah and Lori have been giving their week-by-week reviews of what they're watching in She Made Me Watch This, but if you're like me, you get so caught up in how adorable they are that you totally forget what they're saying. And some readers can't watch the vlogs for various reasons. So here's a slightly different forum for weighing in with your opinions of this season's series — after I weigh in with mine, of course.

Let's start with what was probably the show most anticipated by AfterEllen.com readers: Bionic Woman.

My one-word review: meh. The eye candy factor only goes so far. I just don't care about these characters. Even Katee Sackhoff can't hold my attention for an hour in a boring show. TiVo-worthy? Nope.

Private Practice

One-word review: improving. I haven't given up on this show yet and, of course, Kate Walsh has a lot to do with that. We have yet to see an entire episode that kicks butt, but none have sucked as badly as the first one. Story lines like the switched babies and the woman who couldn't have sex reflect the quirky brilliance we expect from Shonda & company. Others, like Addison's revelation that she doesn't masturbate, seem to be trying too hard. TiVo-worthy? Yes, for now.

Ugly Betty

One-word review: fabulous. I still love Betty. Only Ugly Betty can make me happy and misty-eyed in the same scene. In fact, I get grumpy if I don't get to watch it when it airs. It's smart, gay-friendly and a lot of fun. TiVo-worthy? Definitely, so I can watch it again.

ER

One-word review: discouraging. I've been faithful to ER throughout its 14-year history and dearly love Maura Tierney. Last year, I was sorely tempted to cheat. If something shiny and new appears on another channel, I fear I may give in to temptation. TiVo-worthy? I can't bring myself to say no.

Reaper

One-word review: huh? Maybe it's just me, but this seems to be the same story over and over. And it wasn't that interesting the first time, even with Missy Peregrym. Kill off the characters and let the devil have the show. TiVo-worthy? TiNo.

Pushing Daisies

One-word review: awesome. One of my new favorite shows, Pushing Daisies is campy, well written and unlike anything on television. And it has Kristin Chenoweth, Swoosie Kurtz, Ellen Greene and a new crush, Anna Friel. TiVo-worthy? Absolutely.

Friday Night Lights

One-word review: adrift. I got hooked on Friday Night Lights during reruns. But this season, the show seems to have lost its way. If the writers correct some of their missteps soon, I'm in. But they'd better do it soon. TiVo-worthy? For a few more weeks.

Others on my TiVo list are new shows Dirty Sexy Money and Chuck, both nice surprises, and, of course, Exes & Ohs. (And a shout out to the just-ended Mad Men — depressing, but compelling.) Plus returning shows that still shine: Grey's Anatomy, Dexter, Weeds, Brothers & Sisters and 30 Rock. By the way, I predict an Emmy for Alec Baldwin in last episode's scene with Tracy.

New shows that I want to like, but don't: Women's Murder Club, Journeyman, Cane and Moonlight (sorry). Old shows that I tried to like, but didn't: House, CSI, Nip/Tuck and reality shows in general.

Returning shows that used to be appointment television but are losing me: Desperate Housewives, Boston Legal, Curb Your Enthusiasm. Those that lost me last season: Men in Trees, Heroes.

And finally, three AfterEllen.com reader favorites that I haven't watched enough to judge: Aliens in America, Gossip Girl and Life.

The obvious omissions generally are shows I enjoy when I see them, but don't miss when I don't. Except for Big Shots. I couldn't even sit through a preview of that show. One-word review: why?

Your turn. What's on your TiVo? What's on your list of must-not-see TV? What shows have changed the most since you first watched?

I don't agree with you on

    I don't agree with you on anything! =D Let's make a list:

    I watch:

    • CSI (two more episodes for me)
    • Bones (always and forever)
    • Bionic Woman (Jamie Sommers, yes please)
    • Women's Murder Club (Angie Harmon, yes please)
    • Weeds (when it will air here)
    • Nip/Tuck (watching the first ep. after posting this)

And a whole sea of shows but these are the important ones.

    I still love Boston Legal

I still love Boston Legal and Grey's Anatomy. These shows are as good as ever. I also like Bionic Woman. I still watch Private Practice but I'm not sure if I like or not. I used to watch Desperate Housewives but I don't like it anymore and I hate all kinds of reality shows.

    i took off

the bionic woman after a few episodes...i REALLY wanted to like this show but even the hotness of michelle ryan and the flashback to my childhood couldnt keep me into it

i havent watched an episode of survivor this year. this is normally one of the shows that i do watch faithfully but i just cant be bothered...the same can be said about the amazing race..im just not going to watch.

what IS on my Tivo right now is pushing daisies...while i still wish wonderfalls was on this show is a fairly good substitute.

ANTM because i just cant turn away for some reason. its like a trainwreck every week.

the show that is LOSING me quickly is greys...same storyline different season

    Haha, Bionic Woman's Music...

It feel's like person choosing the music for Bionic Woman stole a lesbian's iPod. First Brandi Carlile and then Ani. It made me snicker knowingly a little and no one understood why i was laughing during a love scene.

But as for the shows, I still am watching Bionic Woman, I adore Boston Legal (maybe because I live in Boston, GO SOX), SVU is by far my favorite TV investigation show (in the US, Wire in the Blood is amazing) and Heros, Grey's, and Ugly Betty are obviously on my TiVo. I'm also still watching Blood Ties to see what happens, for the eye candy, and for the squishy vampire feeling that fills the Buffy void in my life.

I quit Bionic Woman the show

I quit Bionic Woman the show just did not live up to its dark edgy pilot episode. Infact there ant one show one this list that I watch. Fall TV was just one big let down. Scratch that GOSSIP GIRL and LIFE! I still love and watch these two shows.

    Off my TiVo

that I don't have a Tivo is besides the point but ...

I don't watch Private Practice anymore, no matter how much I love Kate Walsh (she was one of my five hotties for the AE hotties-list), the weird storylines just creep me out, dead-sperm-donor, please!

30 Rocks has never been on my to-watch-list this season because I can't stand the funny guy, whatshisname? Not my kind of humour.

Bionic Woman has grown on me, plus the last episode was just brilliant with Jamie Summers posing as a British student. So there was a British actress faking an American accent faking a British accent and she pulled that of pretty well. I was chuckling all the time. But this might just be my Brits-loving ways.

I lovelovelove Pushing Daisies in all its quirky glory! Oh, and I listened to the Harry Potter Books millions of times as Jim Dale's voice puts me to sleep every night.

I also adore Sarah Shahi in Life and even like her sidekick (oh, no ...was it the other way around ^^).

Heroes gets the benfit of doubt as the first season was just brilliant, but any more characters and I might lose track of waht's acually going on, plus ... they did such a good job bringing them together last season and I don't see that happening this season.

Brothers & Sisters is still on although Ally McBeal annoys me but her sister is just adorable. I actually cried on Sunday when she got her kids taken away from her *Sob* (I never cry because of a TV series)!

The jury is still out on Aliens in America, Greys Anatomy, Weeds and Reaper. Sometimes they are trying too hard or its just gets boring from the repetition of the same pattern over and over again.

Wehell ... that's it so far.

    Still on my season pass

On:  Nip/Tuck, Pushing Daises, Heroes, Bionic Woman, Life, Tell Me You Love Me and Weeds.

Off:  Journeyman, Exes & Ohs (I tried to like it but I find it annoying), Womens Murder Club and Californication (after 2 episodes).

My Tivo is gearing up for: Terminator: TSCC, Lost, 24, The L Word, SON, Jericho and The Tudors.

    EH.....

I feel a bit ehhh.. about this whole fall. I was really excited for Heroes, but if I go back to Feudal Japan one more time!.... I find myself not looking forward to each evneing of TV, but instead thinking,, oh what's on tonight? hmmmm probably nothing that important...

Still watching- Bionic Woman (why not? And I stil have hope it will get better) Journeyman (ditto, plus it's like of like SVU how they incorporate real events, the Unibomber and the guy who jumped out of the plane)

Over already- Chuck (boring!), Life (what the frig is up with this weirdo?)

Old shows I'm loving more and more- brothers and sisters, 30 rock

Old shows I watch but always wonder why I wasted the hour: Desperate Housewives, ER

I just can't wait for Lost to come back! And of course the L-Word

Wow we lesbians have ALOT of different likes!

    "Imagi-naaayaaayy-shunnn..."

    1. I love you for not liking “reality” tv and for having the tubes to write it here.
    2. Is ER still on??  Jesus fuck... DIE already!  I mean, have a little pride, NBC…
    3. I may have judged Pushing Daisies too quickly.  Was annoyed by the VO in the pilot but I may go back and watch subsequent epis (I’m probably biased, tho.  Not sure anyone can do the ‘death’ bit better than Six Feet Under or even Dead Like Me.
    4. Nip/Tuck – I watched the first…. 2 seasons?  Maybe some of the third?  To quote my favorite lesbian witch, “bored now…”
    5. Mad, mad 30 Rock love.  Alec Baldwin TOTALLY deserves an Emmy for that scene.  His forte is, and always has been, comedy.  Dude sucks at drama, but he ALWAYS brings the funny (“schweddy balls,” anyone)??
    6. Big, fat YES to “Weeds” (which is the only other show from your list I watch)!

Goddammit.  I just realized it’s 9:40.  I missed something I like on tv, right??

    :(

    leaves to check tv schedule....

Whew!  Never mind!  (how could I forget South Park)??  Half hour to go: “Terrorists have attacked our imagination!”

Plus, I *hafta *see whether Kyle sucks Cartman’s balls….

    er

Agree with most of your picks, but I already gave up on ER when I saw that preview with Abbys kid being rushed in. Is there a cast member who still has all their limbs, hasn't had their chest cracked, or been dragged away from treating a loved one? THHHPPPPPPPPPPPPPPT!
    CaliSky3's picture

    Bionic Woman

I'm not exactly sure what everyone's expecting from this show, but I like it. Than again I don't spend every waking hour near the TV or watching TV. I see things or episodes here and there and so far it's kept my attention. Plus, I can't get over how hot the two ladies are. Plus, it's the first ever show that I watched where the main characters are virtually all women. I love that fact. As long as it doesn't turn into a straight-people-soap-opera in scifi land it has me.

As for ER, that show needs to burn and die. Why is it still on? The show doesn't change, the characters don't change, -- it's boring! I'm going to be in the medical field and let me say the show is unrealistic even for an ER. -Rachel
    dypole's picture

    Well! I'm glad you asked...

I do less Tivo-ing and more watching online, and I have to say, I'm a bit surprised by how my viewing priorities have turned out.

The shows most important to me are the ones I watch live, namely:

    1. Bionic Woman. I know everyone is hating on this show, and I have to say that I was severely bored during the last episode (was it just me, or was the heterosexual chemistry incredibly...forced?) but the show still has enough awesome elements--hot women, ass kicking, shadowy organizations, biological warfare, biotechnology, Katee Sackhoff--to keep me interested.

    2. How I Met Your Mother. It's on notice, though, since it's been incredibly unfunny the past few weeks.

    3. Heroes. Also on notice, for being mind-numbingly boring.

    4. 30 Rock. What a fantastic show. Every week, it manages to pull at least a few laughs out of me (no easy feat), and it's enough to make me skip the last half hour of...

    5. Ugly Betty. Now, I stopped watching this show about 3/4 of the way through the first season, but I am absolutely hooked right now. The writing is dead-on, every character and storyline is developing wonderfully, and even I gave a little squeak of joy when Cliff took hold of Marc's hand. Adorable!

    6. Grey's Anatomy. Speaking of shows I never though I'd pick up again! I feel like I've had a relationship with this show for the past few years, and I needed a break from it last season to fully evaluate the importance of our bond before I could come back and renew my love for the drama of Seattle Grace.

As for shows I don't make sure to watch live, there's The Simpsons and Family Guy (two animated comedies I can't do without), Reaper and Cane (both of which I am behind on), Dirty Sexy Money, Weeds, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, South Park, The Office, and Pushing Daisies. I haven't even given up on Private Practice yet, either, though it's way on the back burner.

However, I hold a very special place in my heart for two shows that I am absolutely addicted to: America's Next Top Model and Gossip Girl. I literally lock myself in my room during ANTM, while Gossip Girl has essentially become my obsession.

...see, this is why I need to go back to school.

    I skip around.

Each week what tv I watch depends on what mood I am in...plus remembering when a show is on.  lol  I get tired of taping shows because life happens and I seem to never get around to watching what is on hold and waiting for me.

But somehow, each week I seem to catch Life with Sarah Shahi.  And I am liking what I see.  Tonight's eppie was a special treat as it focused on Sarah's character and we got to see yet more layers of her and what her story is.  But I have a feeling what we saw tonight was just the tempting tip of the iceberg.  The show doesn't disappoint.

    Twstdtrinity's picture

    Mahh

I'm so bored of the Reaper! I thought the first eppy was great but now the show is becoming sadly redundant.

I'm so enjoying My name is Earl, Life, Grey's Anatomy, Blood Ties (Oh god Christina Cox is amazing) and Chuck (It's one episode away from boring me).

I've been really intrigued by Tell Me You Love. This show shouldve been on years ago.

I barely watch a whole hour of Heroes, I still tune for ER but only because of Maura, I want to stab the writers of Smallville, and if you watch only 10 minutes of Private Practice, catch it after each commercial break, it's quite tolerable. Same goes for Bionic Woman.

Oh, I miss my TiVo (well, PVR).

I had to choose between TiVo and pocket money this year (student life...), so I'm a slave to basic cable. However, I'm currently watching:

Grey's Anatomy- I just started watching last year, and I'm having a love/hate relationship with it right now. Callie's mental paralysis is irritating.

CSI- 'til Sara's gone, and then my roommate will finally get to watch Ugly Betty.

SVU-for now... How fantastic was Cynthia Nixon?

Ugly Betty- When I can... I love it. How cute were the boys together this week?!

House- It's an sarcasm lover's treasure chest.

ER- but my interest is waning with Weaver gone and Abby in the same messes as always.

and... I'm missing these shows alot (due to night class): Private Practice, Criminal Minds.

    Life

Please give Life a chance.  Oh please oh please oh please.  I can't articulate the all consuming love I have for this show, and God knows it needs all the attention it can get.  Check it out if only for the Shahi.  No mullets here, promise!

    Bionic Women

I really really wonder why everone is dissin' this show so much. I don't get. Ok i admit i just saw the Pilot episode and read lots and lots of review. It wasn't just bad, wasn't a pure Hitshow either. But seriously does anyone remember Xena's first season? By the Gods, now that was really really bad! And i love this show.

I hope that Jamie and Sarah have to get to know each other a bit before the good stuff begins, hopefully. :D

    People want the instant wow

People want the instant wow factor these days I guess :( They forget that shows like BUffy and Xena pretty much would have died a quick death these days if based solely on their first seasons. Some shows need given a chance. Somteimes it takes a season to find a groove and get where your audience is coming from and what they want. But no, these days it seems...if it's not blowing off your socks by the second episode it's gone by episode 6.

Just look at Firefly. A show that could have been amazing...thrown aside because they didn't give it a chance like they did Buffy. Wonderfalls...very quircky, with great reviews, but not given time to allow the audience to catch onto to how good it is.

Bah, who the hell would try to write for TV these days with so much crap being allowed to go on forever, and with so many truly original shows falling under the knife.

    fanatic rant

The premiere episode was so freaking fantastic and the character Sarah Corvus played by Katee Sackhoff was so yummie she makes it almost impossible to like the star character um.. Jaime Sommers played by Michelle Ryan.

Whats the problem with the show? Not enough Sarah Corvus is the main reason that and the ultra cheesy ''save the word from politically correct terrorist.'' storyline. Oh and what happen to the tough independent call the shots gal Jaime Sommers we saw and loved in the premiere episode? Now she needs a team to help her uh... train? TRAIN!?! She's the freaken Bionic Woman! Why would she need help training??? The show is just stupid and lame which is a good thing for us fans of Sarah Corvus. Think about it, if we demand more Sarah and less Jaime sooner or later they would get the clue and fire Michelle and pay Katee whatever she wants, Or just cancel the whole thing either way is good.

This show only has one thing in common with XENA and thats the Sarah Corvus potentially reformed physco killer character.

    What I'm watching

Shows I love and never miss:

-Exes & Ohs and everything else on Logo

     -The Ellen DeGeneres Show

     -ER

     -The Office

     -Life

Show I try to watch every week but don't go crazy if I miss it:

     -30 Rock

Shows I DVR so I can fast forward through the boring straight characters' scenes to watch the gay characters:

     -Degrassi: The Next Generation

-Ugly Betty (though I just started watching it and may end up liking the whole show)

     -Brothers and Sisters

Show I used to watch every week that now has apparently sold its soul to the devil in a desperate attempt to better its ratings by dumbing itself down and turning itself into yet another horrible idiot straight guy show (i.e. Two and a Half Men, Rules of Engagement, etc.):

     -How I Met Your Mother

About ER - I think this show is absolutely still worth watching.  I really don't understand all of the people who keep talking about how "old" the show is and how it should be put out of its "misery".  Have they even watched it recently?  It's still better than 99% of what's out there.  Few TV characters are in the same league as the wonderful Abby Lockhart.  I've loved watching her grow over the past few seasons (although recent events have me worried).

Now that I think about it, something that I think has contributed to the negative attitude towards ER are NBC's embarrassing commercials for it.  They make the show look like a ridiculous, melodramatic soap opera.  If I didn't watch the show and just formed an opinion of it based on the ads, I'd think it was terrible too.

    maylith's picture

The shows I am watching, new and old.

Big Bang Theory - As a geek girl at heart I find this show on the edge of cute. It's also nice seeing out actress Sara Gilbert in a recurring (though heterosexual) role. It's also the only 30 minute pure comedy on my list and I am enjoying it enough to keep watching.

Weeds - Third season, and this show keeps rocking along its quirky path. I'll watch this one until they stop making it.

Heroes - I thought this sophomore season got off to a slightly stumbling start, but its picking up now. And while the eye candy is great, so are the characters and story.

Chuck - Yep, showing my street geek creds again. Plus, Adam Baldwin is one of my favorite male leads. He seems best at playing characters who least deserve to get the girl. Besides, I'm gorwn up enough to admit that the eye candy here brings me back each week. I especially adore that cute little weeny waitress girl outfit and hair!

Reaper - I am still watching, and see a couple signs that they may develop some of the potential darker story lines that have arisen. There are problems, but I do see potential. Let's hope it's realized.

Eureka - It's over for this year, but I love this quirky little show. Can't wait for season three.

Pushing Daises - Caught the first two episodes and have two more TiVo'd. I like it, I really do, but its tough to get all my shows in, and this one has fallen aside. I'll catch up soon and hope it continues the success of the first two episodes.

Bionic Woman - I'm still watching this one, and seem to like it more than most. Thats not to say its perfect. It could really use some tightening around the story lines, but the eye candy is at least fantastic. I think it's better than ST:TNG was its first year by far. I think in many cases, the public and the networks don't give some shows the time they need to grow in to their potential. I am very glad this show is darker and more character driven than the original.

Blood Ties - What can i say? I love me some Christina Cox. From "Better Than Chocolate" to "FX: The Series" she's one of my favorites. Luckily this show is good too.

Stargate Atlantis - Another Geek girl friend of mine got me hooked on the Stargate franchise. I dove through her collection of DVD's a couple years back and have been with this franchise ever since.

Battlestar Galactica - Won't start for awhile, but can't wait till it does. Also looking forward to "Razor" which will be here soon.

Sara Connor Chronicles - Starts in January. I've seen the pilot and I am really looking forward to more. I think television is the perfect place for the terminator franchise right now and Summer Glau is certainly more pleasing to look at than "The Arnold"

The L Word - Also starting in a couple months, its kind of like rubbernecking at an accident on the highway. You know you shouldn't look, and you've been cursing the delay its caused in your life, but you can help watching! Plus, there's always that catchy theme song... :)

Jericho - I enjoyed the first season, and glad to see it will get 6 or 7 more episodes to tie up story lines and potentially get another season. Another one that starts in 08.

Lost - I still watch, though sometimes I don't know why. Although I do love learning about the back stories of the characters and how they relate to each other, I want to know more about the island and its back story which we hardly ever get. Each revelation about the island only brings more questions and they don't feed us answers quickly enough. Plus, if they truly are back in the known world, we won't get to see Evangalne Lilly showing off her sweaty guns!

    Shows

    1. Put me in the no more Bionic Woman camp. Caty wanted to ditch it and I agreed. *sigh* So much squandered potential there.
    2. I'm kind of excited about Pushing Daisies, it seems to perfectly strike that balance of juggling disparate elements successfully.
    3. The Office. For some reason I just can't get enough of this show. I suspect that it's because of Angela. Her cat episode had me both mortified and laughing so hard that I tweaked a thorasic muscle.
    4. 30 Rock. Like last season it just seems to get better and better every week. They need to bring back Isabella Rosselini.
    5. Bones. This is perhaps my overall favorite show on right now. I'm less interested in the crimes than I am in the characters themselves. The writing is quick and clever, the dialog always fresh, and I just love that ginormous lab where they all work.
    6. Friday Night Lights. I watched all of season 1 online because Malinda Lo had recommended it so highly...and it did not disappoint. This year it lost me with the first episode and I jumped ship.

The best two shows are on Showtime

    Yesterday was a good day!

I got off of work early, went home and made chili for the mass of people (20) coming over for various Halloween activities.  After all the work was done, I had about an hour to sit and relax and I realized I hadn't watched Dexter or Weeds this week!  Oh, the conundrum!  What to watch?  Both shows are drastically better than any on network TV, but which to choose?  Any show that can give me Mary Louise-Parker doing a booty "brick" dance, that hits a home run with every episode (although I could do with less of Matthew Modine and more of Shane at the crazy school) is alright by me.  In the end I chose Dexter, though, because it has taken the promise of last year and run with it.  I love the brother/sister relationship of Deb and Dexter, and Dexter's wicked, internal asides always make me laugh.  It hasn't been as bloody this year, perhaps one of the reasons why it didn't get noticed during award time last year, but the story is more compelling.

They are on my TiVo, along with Keith Olbermann.  Damages was on, but it's over now.  I also TiVo My Name is Earl, and The Office.

There's no time for anything else, I usually catch up on the treadmill, borrowing season dvd's from friends.

wow i think we are watching different shows:)

New favs,, tila tequila, califonication, bionic woman (totally love the interaction between the two bionics and the kick ass fight scenes)

    TiVo'd

This'll be fun.  Okay, TiVo'd shows:

Smallville - Great show that's only gotten better as the years go on.

ER - I don't care what anyone says, I love ER.  There's a reason the show has lasted so many seasons - Because it's a good show.

Heroes - The show really has its ups and downs.  Some episodes can be great, others far too boring.  Some interesting new characters this season though.

Weeds - Its just the perfect show.  Full of action and not too long.

Friends - I'm a Friends junkie who should just buy the series DVD.

Bionic Woman - I thought last week's episode was awesome.  I don't see the real need for the 'hate' of the show - I mean, its the first season and they have to build plots, tension and stuff so it's not going to be action for the whole hour.

Life - I'm really surprised I'm sticking with this show, as I am not a fan of police dramas.  I hope it doesn't get canceled, I've heard it isn't doing so well in the ratings.

The Colbert Report - Full of truthiness.

Kid Nation - Love it.  Great idea for a reality show.

Survivor: China - First season I've watched Survivor in Years, its actually one of the shows I look more forward to.

The Amazing Race - Starts Sunday, woooooooooo!

Life is Wild - I'm behind on the show but I thought the first episode was okay.

And last night I watched Nip/Tuck for the first time and liked it.  I'll add that to my recorded list too.  :)

Edit: How could I forget House?!  Yeah, love House!

    no Tivo here

so I use the alternative - downloading off the net the morning after.

    Shows I watch regularly:

    • Cold Case
    • L&O CI
    • L&O SVU
    • Pushing Daisies (the only newbie that hasn't disspointed me yet)
    • Grey's and PP (but losing interest fast)
    • CSI
    • Heroes
    • How I met your Mother
    • Aliens in America - new comedy on CW, highly recommended
    • Journeyman - although I'm not very impressed
    • Desperate Housewives - only intermittently

    Shows I download:

    • Bionic Woman
    • Californication (that just ended this week)
    • Dexter
    • Samantha Who

Shows I'm ashamed to admit I still watch:

    • Moonlight
    • Bones (because I watch it soley for Emily Deschanel)

    no tivo here, dont really

no tivo here, dont really see the point, network shows i miss i can just watch online and i only watch a couple of shows on showtime which always replay throughout the week but my list isn't very long :

i'm still on the bionic woman train even though i dont understand why they keep trying to set jaime up with guys when she has bigger things to worry about. but i have an intense love for michelle ryan and will continue to watch, ven though i agree with the comment that all the hetero love seems forced.

i love smallville with a passion, completely tired of clark and lana but it's my favorite show by far so i will always love it. the fact that erica durance is on the show doesn't hurt either haha.

i'm becoming a bit bored with grey's but im always by the tv after smallville anyway so i switch to abc and watch.

i'm loving Life, last night was the first time i've missed it because i was out trick or treating with my best friend (he's 3) but i plan to watch it online after work.

this is the first season i've watched house and im surprised i never watched it before, i love how brash he is and if it werent for olivia wilde, i would have never found one of my new favorites.

and the love of my tv life, Dexter. i've watched since the first episode and LOVE it.

I'm sorry, but "Exes and Ohs" is terrible!!

I've tried to like it, and I've recorded it on my DVR faithfully, but it's so incredibly boring and the characters are people I would never be friends with in real life.  Also, is it supposed to look super-"campy" like it was recorded at my apartment, or is it just poorly done?  I know that Logo owns afterellen and that Michelle has columns on this site, etc., but I can't read this post and not throw in my two cents about how disappointing it is that this show is, in my opinion, unwatchable.  I really really tried to like it.

    Pushing Daisies

Awesome post, linster! How do you have time to do anything but watch TV?!? My only gripe is the qualification of Pushing Daisies as "campy," because it's not. It's whimsical (to the point of being excessively twee), but campy it is not. The Love Boat? Campy. Search for the Next Elvira? Campy. Dynasty. Ugly Betty. Daisies is cute, it's cloying. But there's a knowingness, another level of irony, that is absent, and that's why I made it only 2 eps before taking it off the TiVo!

I dumped Bionic Woman for gossip girl the first week and

    I haven't looked back :).

    Old shows I'm still watching/recording:

Prison Break (crazy, fast paced...love it), weeds (the only thing wrong with it is that it's only 30 minutes long), L&O SVU (although last week, the ep was a little too preachy for me), ER (It was the show that started during my freshman year of college. I'm just trying to see it through), Grey's (eh..it's alright), Friday Night lights (i'm was perturbed by the non-self defense, not going to the cops things, but I'm hoping they can redeem themselves)

    new shows

gossip girl (i dumped Bionc for it early on). life (i actually like it. I mean sarah shahi's pretty good even with her clothes on :)), Dirty Sexy Money (i like it ok when i'm watching it, but i'm 3 weeks behind and it's beginning to feel like a chore to get caught up), Tell me you love me (i can't figure out why i watch this...i think because there's nothing else on), on and last but not least is...Private Practice (i'm on the edge right now...waste of talent. Amy Breneman's character is too weak...the same things I dislike about Grey's, but put up with, i dislike about this show. not too surprising)

i watch house, how I met you mother, big bang theory (engineering humor, ha!) when i can...but i don't make an effort to watch it.

If i had more time i'd probably watch brothers and sisters, maybe Ugly Betty (i love america ferrera), but I don't.

i never got into Deparate Housewives, chuck, reaper, the office, scrubs or Heroes. i've tried watching Pushing Daisies, but I just can't.
