"Dead Like Me" trailer — a holiday treat

Seeing Pushing Daisies on the American Film Institute's list of the best shows of 2007 reminded me that I'd heard no recent news about another Bryan Fuller project: the Dead Like Me straight-to-DVD movie.

My quick search for updates uncovered the first trailer for the movie. The trailer itself needs some editing, but I'll take whatever I can get. Give it a look and let me know what you think.

"There's nothing passive about my agression."

    That scene cracked me up.

Great trailer! Or should I say "great teaser"?

I can not wait for this movie to come out...I loved the show and hated that it was cancelled...this teaser of the movie looks promising.

I don't know what I liked more the....there's nothing passive about my aggression.  or

    cameron king sister reference...candy...lmao

    Yes!

I am sooo excited =)  Really miss the show.

    Reggie

Gah! What happened to Reggie? She was always such a quirky kid, now she just looks like a regular teenager! I'm not pleased. I do like that they've had the characters age, though... I'm just not happy with the way Reggie is portrayed in the teaser (I'm still hoping she's the good old Reggie in the movie!!)

And is it just me, or was George's narrating a bit... off? I don't know. I'll give it a chance, and I hopehopehope the movie will be at the very least decent - Dead Like Me is my favorite TV show EVER.

    Hmmm...

... maybe Ellen Muth just had a cold when she narrated the teaser? Cause she sounds a little funny.

    I think

I think she always sounds like that: bored and congested...but in a good way...

Anyways, the movie looks interesting although the people replacing George and Daisy(?) are very different.

    Bliss's picture

    Daisy

Daisy was the only character re-casted.  It's the same person playing George :)
    deathbyblonde's picture

    Oh yeah

Heh, I actually meant Reggie, but I guess she's the same actress too.  Weird...

Oh man, I can't even concentrate on you post, though, because that picture of Starbuck is distracting me ;P

    .....

i dunno nothin can beat the series but it does look interesting....guess ill hav 2 wait til it comes out to see.......
    Bliss's picture

    Yay...

I can't wait to get my hands on this DVD.  I'm going to treat it as a stand alone.  Now, if they would do something withe Wonderfalls...

    I already miss Mandy!

I'm bummed out that Rube/Mandy Patinkin won't be returning.

    I always love the George/Rube interactions :-)

    Sweeet!

I miss the show so much. I hope the movie pulls it off well. Ellen Muth is a snarky little Goddess as George. I can understand aging , but NuReggie...WTF?
    Bliss's picture

    hey

It's the same actress playing Reggie.  I guess they could have kept her in glasses though.

"Dead Like Me" was a great show...

and Ellen Muth, the reluctant teenage Grim Reaper, is a lesbian.  Looks like only half the original cast signed up for the movie.  What happened to Laura Harris, Rebecca Gayheart, and Mandy Patinkin?  Ah yes, they are busy doing other projects.  Still, the movie looks interesting, if only for expanding the role of Jasmine Guy's character.  Looks like she got promoted from meter maid to full-fledged cop.

Anybody know the release date of the film?

    Bliss's picture

    Cast

Rebecca Gayheart left during series one.  I wished that Laura Harris would have come back.  To me, she will always be Daisy.  I wished that they didn't recast another actor for that character.  Laura Harris is on Women's Murder Club now.  I haven't a clue what Mandy is doing these days.

Lol, I'm a film graduate.  Can you tell?

That site has settled many an argument with my friends and I.

    Isn't Mandy in...

Criminal minds? I could be wrong, but he was the last time I saw him..

    No promotion

Jasmine Guy's character Roxy became a policewoman in season two.
    boywithmoonandstars's picture

    wow!

I forgot how long ago the show was cancelled and how much people change. I would never have guessed that is the same actress. And a big yes to Wonderfalls!

    I'll be buying this one

Loved the series and own both seasons on DVD so I have to get this just to complete the collection. Anyone seen a release date?
    JK_Singer's picture

    Question

I'm considering watching the series, but I gotta ask; does it have a proper ending? Or a "oh my god we got cancelled" ending?

    Anyone? ;)

    Depends

It depends on what you call a proper ending.  There isn't a cliff hanger or anything.

    My favorite scene:

Must... Tell... Everyone... I... EVER... Met!

I've been anticipating this since, like, FOREVER... and it looks like it's picking up where the series left off very nicely. Pushing Daisies reminded me how much I missed Dead Like Me!

No, the show doesn't end on a cliffhanger or really in the middle or a storyline or anything. It's pretty much like any other episode. Don't watch the if you're not into dark humor, though. And I mean way darker than Pushing Daisies or Wonderfalls.

    Thanks

    both of you :)

And yeah i was pretty much hoping for a non-cliffhanger ending (don't wanna witness another 'Popular' finale).

And dark humour is certainly not a problem..

And the latest release date announced is Summer 2008.

(Also note that Ellen Muth identifies as straight on her MySpace page. I haven't heard that she's a lesbian, though she did play one on TV in The Truth About Jane.)

    I love dead like me...

I will so be buying this on dvd. Probably along with the series, because I forgot how great this show was, and how much I really miss it. Thanks for reminding me.

    =D

I'm so excited for this even though it sucks that we won't have the original cast. Laura Harris as Daisy was perfection.

And that wasn't Ellen talking in the trailer/teaser surely? It must've been someone else as the teaser only seems to be a "mock up" anyways.

But yeah. =D I'm very excited.

    Sweet!

The trailer has me itching to see the movie. I don't care if it is going straight to DVD. With the serious lack of good writing these days, I still maintain that when this show went off several years ago, it was one of the greatest travesties in television. What more could one ask for in a show? Characters you can connect with, wicked humor, and did I mention George is hot? Oh well, television execs never asked me...

    I Miss You DLM!

Thanks so much for this.  I didn't even know a trailer was out.  I really hope its a good movie and not a let down.  :keeps fingers crossed:

I am bummed we have a new daisy and a new boss.  I love me some ass kickin Roxie!

I cannot believe that was Reggie!  Holy cow!
