Chyler Leigh: the newest shade of "Grey's"The new doc at Seattle Grace has already turned McDreamy's head.
We met Lexie at the end of Grey's Anatomy last season, although we didn't know much more than the fact that she and Derek flirted at the bar. Then, in a callback to Grey's first episode, she showed up as one of the new interns. This season, we learned that she's Lexie Grey, Meredith's half-sister. And the actress who plays her, Chyler Leigh, is quite the hottie.
I first noticed Leigh on the short-lived series Reunion, but she's been acting since age 14. When she was cast for Grey's, she had to scramble to catch up on the show.
What is it with actors who don't watch television? Leigh's addition to the cast is just one of several changes Grey's creator Shonda Rimes is making in order to bring life back to the series after what many fans — including me — considered a lackluster third season. Lauren Stamile, who played Kate Jackson in the "behind the scenes" TV movie about Charlie's Angels (I may have been the only person watching), will join the cast later this season in a recurring role. Edward Herrmann also will appear in a few episodes as Norman, the world's oldest intern.
For Leigh, the question most often asked is who Lexie will hook up with, McDreamy or McSteamy? Leigh says that when she does get involved with someone, it's not the one everyone expects. I know who's at the top of my list.
What do you think of the new season of Grey's so far? Is Lexie a good addition to the mix? What's your prediction for what's next on the show? Or have you quit watching? Submitted by on October 10, 2007 - 4:01pm. |

Am I the only one that finds McDreamy's penchant for much younger women, (not to mention that he is in a teaching position to these women), anyone else find this creepy? Personally, it makes my skin crawl. He's not only an attending surgeon, but he's head of the department. That makes him eons older than his first year interns. Yuck.

I've always gotten the impression that Meredith and Christina are somewhat older than a lot of the interns. Meredith seems to have struggled with the decision to go to med school and we know she went to Europe for a while before taking the plunge, and Christina had already gotten a Ph.D. from Berkeley (not to mention her BA from Smith) before she went to med school. Furthermore, Meredith's parent's didn't split up until she was 5, so she is *at least*, though probably more than, five years older than Lexie. So I don't think there is anything too gross about McDreamy and Meredith (or Christina and Burke for that matter). Both actresses are also in their late 30s.
The student/teacher thing is another issue, but it's not like these characters are impressionable young things. Inter-office romances about in every field. And why only complain about the women potentially being taken advantage of? What about George and Callie?
Ahhh..
I did not know that. I didn't watch the first season, so despite knowing the ages of the actresses, I did not know that their characters had that much history behind them.
So, they aren't as young as I thought, but even given those added years, Shepherd would still be icky (for me) older than Meredith, and thus, uber icky older than Lacie.

And...what?
Pretty girls are inapproriate?
Well, I would think it's up to the women who actually work for AE to decide what is "appropriate subject matters for AE".
I, for one, quite enjoy reading about pretty girls...
Sigh..
If I'm not mistaken ...
Sarah addressed this not so long ago. I believe the rationale was that there simply was not enough lesbian/gay entertainment news to blog about, and so anything was fare game in the blogs.
I think it was a good decision.

Anyone who trades liberty for security deserves neither liberty nor security -- B. FranklinWell...
...it certainly doesn't hurt. But, in all seriousness, you couldn't be more wrong in your suggestion that Grey's lacks a solid LGBT connection.
While the show doesn't boast a regular LGBT-storyline, it has featured stories about a pre-op transsexual man ("Where the Boys Are") and has a recurring minor character (Joe), who tries to adopt a child with his boyfriend, Walter. And, most importantly, perhaps, the show features out-actor, TR Knight...so I'd say that qualifies as a solid LGBT connection.
Moreover, outside Seattle Grace, the cast has been as vocal as any TV collective (sans, maybe, the cast of Ugly Betty) on LGBT issues. Grey's stars Sara Ramirez (again: swoon), Kate Walsh and TR Knight are in new PSAs for GLADD's "Be an Ally & a Friend" campaign.
I hope that Shonda Rhimes continues to do more, but let's not overlook what is being done.
But
So why does the show never get mentioned here then?
My sentiments exactly
Chyler Leigh? I luv her!
Chyler Leigh? I luv her! maybe she really hasn't done much work but hey she is cute. Still not even Angelina Jolie herself could get me to watch Grey's....ok maybe.

Pronoun Game everyone! Hee. Dr. Yang is sooo the top of this 'ship.
I Hope
I'm hoping that they pair Lauren Stamile's character with McDreamy because one Shepard-Grey pairing has been plenty enough for me.
Greys Anatomy
I like Lexie and the new season so far. I think Meredith's behaviour towards her sister is a little extrem. I'm very glad that Burke is gone but I miss Addison.

Lexie...
The jury's out where Lexis is concerned. Can't say I'm too impressed with her acting so far.
And yes, Meredith *is* really annoying. But isn't that what she's supposed to be?
And I'm totally over the McDreamy, McSteamy lark. Sounds so high school...bleh.
well....
a) i'm not a fan of lexie. she seems like too much of an airhead for me what with being completely clueless and trying to reach out to her sister in the middle of trauma situations and acting all thirteen year old boy awkward around her. i can't stand clueless-ness in people.
b) the pairing with christina seems unlikely. firstly, christina's merideth's "person" and since merideth wants nothing to do with lexie, i'm sure christina's loyal enough to have her back. second, lexie is one of christina's 'numbers'; she doesnt even like them, let alone date them. third....well, like i said, i dont like lexie, and i love christina, so on that basis alone it shouldn't work out that way. then again, don't quote me on any of that. the soap opera antics of this show never cease to surprise, which means there's no telling what'll happen next.
and on a sidenote, i really don't like callie (sara ramirez). i really like the idea of her (being that she's mexican and not stick-thin), but her character's just...ugh...weak and slightly psychotic. i can't really think of any other way to say that...but it is frustrating.
mmm
all i'm looking foward this season on grey's is hearing some of the new tegan and sara songs haha.. that'd be excellent
i just can't stand meredith anymore..
we want more izzie!!!!!!!!!!
Don't get sick
Interns and residents spend about 85% of their time at work. Sometimes they get to sleep, not often. I've never understood the wisdom of having some sleep deprived doctor caring for sick patients, but that's the norm. So, is it no surprise that these young doctors form emotional attachments (drama) with the people they work with each day and night. Sometimes I find GA annoying, but there really is a small thread of reality that runs through GA. Egos have to be fed and hospitals are full of emotional entanglements.
I hope the new season finds a rhythm soon. Maybe I just miss Addison.
I have yet to watch the
I have yet to watch the second episode of the season, so my opinion may change from that or from future episodes, but... I don't like Lexie. At all. She annoyed me so much on the first episode. I don't really know WHY she bothers me, but like... when she told Mer that she was her sister while in the middle of a trauma - that was obnoxious. There are things I don't like about Meredeth, either, but these characters are supposed to have flaws and quirks.
Christina is, by far, my favorite character (hence the icon lol), although I like Callie pre-marrying George(etc, etc) now she's starting to drive me a little nuts.
I love Grey's, but last season started to lose my interest b/c it became such a downer (I miss the humor of seasons 1 & 2!) - I really hope they bring back the humor and amazingness to this season *crosses fingers*

I kinda like Lexie
Last season ended with a lot of them being slightly exhausted from the drama in their lives and she brings something fresh to the mix. Most of the characters are still recuperating and I think we needed a character and a new storyline to focus on while the others gather their strength.I find the prospect of her hooking up with McDreamy incestuous and trite and I really don't see Shonda Rhimes going there. McSteamy is a different story, for him she could be the next big love after Addison, but again I don't see that happening because it doesn't make for a lot of drama. Not even to think of it from the perspetive of two estranged best friends being involved with two long lost sisters. Plus she's already got the whole sister drama to deal with. I thought for a second that there might be something between her and a George that can't got back to Callie but can't go forward to Izzie either.
She's pretty, but I haven't
She's pretty, but I haven't really warmed up to her.
I love me some Cristina (I would have married her!), Bailey and ADDISON. Oh Addison, I miss you. You're not happy in LA with those weird people. Come back hooome.
Ha, i wish Lexie and
Ha, i wish Lexie and Cristina would get together and mix it up a little..lol but i doubt that will happen, its probably Alex....blah men!
