“Battlestar Galactica” begins its final countdownThe good news about the final 10 episodes of Battlestar Galactica, which start Friday, Jan. 16 (Jan. 20 in the UK), is that most of our questions will be answered by the end of the series. The bad news is that most of our questions will be answered by the end of the series — because that means it will be over.
This isn’t the time for new viewers to get on board because, well, you can’t. All I can say is that you should get the DVDs and start from the beginning. Battlestar Galactica is one of the best dramas on television. The show took risks in terms of character, story and imagery — and viewers have enjoyed the payoff: a remarkable show.
In case you just need to catch up on the first half of Season 4, you’ll be glad to know that the DVD was released last week. The real reason I mention it is because I had to show you the cover, which apparently should read, “Gah … Lactic … Uh.”
Spoilers from the first half of the season follow. At the end of the midseason break, the Colonials finally reached Earth, only to find a wasteland. That leads President Roslin (Mary McDonnell) to question the prophecy that she would lead the people to salvation and refuge on Earth. Since she may be dying of breast cancer, it’s not the best time for a crisis of faith.
In the next 10 episodes, we will find out what happened to Earth and if any life forms (beyond plants) remain. We’ll learn whether humans will have to find a new home elsewhere. And, of course, we’ll discover the identity of the Final Cylon. Even people who don’t watch the show want to know.
I can’t tell you who that last Cylon is, but based on what we already know, I feel safe saying that if it’s a female, she will be one hot android.
We’ll also find out what happened to Starbuck during the time she was supposedly dead. _
Sci Fi is making it fun to guess with “You Will Know the Truth,” which periodically provides clues to the series’ mysteries. The last clue appears right before Friday’s show. And, of course, cyber-land is ablaze with theories. (One of my favorites is that Dirk Benedict will show up as God.) But one of the best things about BSG is that we have no idea what the answers are. Our personal theories could be right — or something may happen that we’ve never imagined. The network also released the 13-minute video Catch the Frak Up! that is worth watching even if you remember every detail.
Will you be watching when BSG returns? What is your theory about the Final Cylon? Will you keep saying, “frak” or go back to regular swear words? Friday’s episode of Battlestar Galactica will run 3 1/2 minutes over, so set your DVRs accordingly. Submitted by on January 15, 2009 - 2:00pm. |

BSG returning
BSG
Can I wait?
I have only just finished watching the third season, but I can't wait for new episodes.
Actually I can wait as I want to marathon the entire fourth season when it comes out on DVD.

Who doesn't blog these days?
eurOut for all your European queer needs“Battlestar Galactica”
This is one of my favorite TV shows the I TiVo and watches it live at the same time.
I do the same.
Video
Ah well, I should probably finish watching the first 3 seasons, first.
Sigh
Sorry about the video. Unfortunately, many of the UK sites block US viewers, so the best way to find it is to go to a UK video site and search "Catch the Frack Up." Hopefully, that will get you to it.
Thnx!
Found it. Loved it.
Wish they made The Titanic that short...
I can't frakkin wait...
I love this show!
As for the fifth cylon, it best be not some random character...
The fifth
As much as they've built up the fifth cylon, I'd be shocked (and really disappointed) if it were some random character.
I'm also really intererested to see what they do with Earth.
Finaly
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! for posting the 4.0 cover!!!! I can't wait for more starbuck!!!!!
I really hope they wrap up the Baltar story pretty quick. I'm frankly tired of him steeling screen time from Katee, Lucy, and the others.
Don't shoot! I'm a friendly! We're all friendly! So lets just be... friendly!-Starbuck (Battlestar Galactica)

where does the good go
someone who will remain nameless .. got me hooked on this show.. to the point that i am actually saying "what the fraking hell" .. more often than using the real words.. it will be interesting to see how they tie everything up in the end .. im just hoping someone shoots Baltar.. that guy annoys the crap out of me. ..
gotta love the season 4.0 picture though.. we dont blame you Lee.. we would all be looking at Starbucks chest too ; )
About frakking time
BSG!!!
You bet I'll be watching.. wide-eyed and eager! I've never been so excited about a show returning.
io9.com posted a fun article about their favorite BSG fan theories, and here's a link to it now:

For the longest time, I thought Roslin was the final cylon but, unless RDM is lying, it can't be her because she's in the Last Supper picture. Speaking of that picture, has anyone else noticed what appears to be an extra foot (or something) underneath the table? Look between Kara's two feet, and you'll see it. Kara and Helo's feet are present and accounted for, and based on the placement, it doesn't appear to be part of the table or bench. What the frak is it? Am I'm crazy? Is it really there? Is it a hint? Felix Gaeta lost a foot, so...? No, no, I'm surely out of my head.
Anyway, we'll find out soon! *twirls*
Frak Baltar
I'm the final cylon!
well, i wish i was.... cause then i could hang out with grace park like all the time. lol She's gorgeous.
But, yeah, i love this show. it's simply awesome. The thing i want most, though, when it ends is for the rebel cylons to be okay. lol... throughout the last three and a half seasons, i've been cheering for the cylons. "Be Aggressive, Be, Be Aggressive!" lol
Does anyone else like the cylons better than the humans?
Frak Me!
Seriously.
I have gotten a lot of fun out of my Caprica Six alter ego. It would be a shame to hang up the platinum wig and red dress.
Here's hoping BSG lives in syndication and fandom forever!
Mmm...yummy Starbuck!
So excited!
I am so fraking excited for BSG to finish :D I'm tired of the cliffhangers and the teasing, I'm ready for the end!
BTW, if anyone has been watching the webisodes, it has pretty much been confirmed that Gaeta is gay, which for some reason made me really happy. The poor guy needed some love, and he has it! Dunno how much of it will carry over into the second half of the season, but at least it wasn't played off as a big deal in the webisodes, just a fact. Maybe that is why it made me so happy.
I'll actually be on the road with the family traveling back up to school, so I'm not sure when I'll get to watch the episode. Hopefully Hulu is quick to put it up the night of (no TV or DVR in my apartment).
Ohhhh Frak!
Boo! I just very responsibly downgraded my satellite package and now have no scifi! :( I'll have to watch on the internets on Saturday.
This show is so amazing. I got my ex-wife hooked on it, and BSG is really the only reason we even speak with any regularity. The txts have been back and forth about it all week.
I'm so frakkin excited. And did some of you see on Bruch with Bridget that Rebecca Drysdale is a huge BSG fan? Yes. yes. and um, more yes.
Btw, my money is on Dualla for the last cylon.
Battlestar The Best
BSG has consistantly been one of the best shows on TV in recent memory. The writing is superb, and the characters complex. I for one will be sad to see it end.
