Anne Hathaway is one intelligent womanSome basic political algebra: If a hot woman is smart and a smart woman is for Obama, are all hot women for Obama? OK, math is not my thing — I’ll leave that to StuntDouble and her gang of Lesbian Scientisticians. But hot, smart women are most definitely my thing, which brings me to Anne Hathaway.
I’ll pause a minute while you catch your breath. Better? Hathaway was among the celebrities at the Democratic National Convention — was it really just last week? — as part of Hollywood’s Creative Coalition. Between appearances, she found time to share her thoughts about Obama with the Associated Press. What better time to examine what makes Anne one of AfterEllen.com’s favorite smart/hot women? Smart: Hathaway didn’t take Obama’s message of hope at face value. "I was kind of afraid of Obama the first time I saw him. … I’ve been burned by politicians before that I wanted to believe in and just didn’t live up to it.” Hot:
Smart: She listened to what the candidate had to say. "It was around the time that he gave his speech on race that I just said, ‘I can’t deny how I feel about you, Barack Obama. I want you to be the president. I want you in the White House.’” Hot:
Smart: She looked for proof that Obama understands what America needs. “I just heard the other day, he just paid off his student loans two years ago. So when people talk about financial issues and the high cost of education, he really gets it.” Hot:
Smart: Hathaway refuses to let a personal setback detract her from supporting her candidate. "My life didn't begin when my relationship (with Raffaello) began. I come from a middle-class Democratic family. I've had strong ties with the Clintons since they were elected. The most important thing for me is getting a Democrat in the White House. I keep thinking about Michelle Obama's speech... about our hopes and fears and not being afraid anymore." Hot:
Whew. Um, I know I had a point, but I can’t seem to remember it. Maybe you can help me out in the comments. Happy weekend. Submitted by on September 5, 2008 - 11:00am. |

Ditto... but hooray for smart, sexy women :D
Wow. I love politics...
Woo
yay for smart hot chicks!
Your point...
thelinster, is that smart women are sexy :)
I agree. Anne's really not my type, but her hot factor goes up because she doesn't simper. And her view that her relationship does not define her...yes, nicely put.
What's really attractive
What's really attractive is when a woman this young and smart gets involved and wants to make a difference. Think of all the beautiful Hollywood women who don't!

Woah
If I ever faltered in my love for Anne Hathaway...
I should be punished.
*grins*
But the fact that she's an informed voter is very impressive. If only the rest of the country were hald as educated as she is, then we'd have something.
Women + Politics= FOR THE WIN.
Smart and super sexy!!
Her being so intelligent makes her that much more attractive. But, I've always known Anne was smart, she definitely carries it in her presence.
Smexy Hathaway
