A princess is the top pin-up for British lesbians

My favorite European website, EurOut, alerted us to the news that, according to a poll by dating site gay-parship.co.uk, the top pin-up for British lesbians is Princess Beatrice. And boy was she surprised.

Actually, Fergie’s daughter, who turns 21 in August, usually looks a bit wide-eyed, although whether she is innocent depends on which tabloid you read. Sadly, much of the British gossip seems to be about Bea’s weight. God forbid a beautiful young woman in the public eye should be anything but skeleton thin. Just look at this pair of auburn-haired lovelies.

Second place went to Peaches Geldof. Um, OK.

I admit to not knowing anything about Geldof other than who her dad is; but she seems to be a sort of British Paris Hilton, "career"-wise. I trust our UK readers will enlighten me about her appeal.

Sienna Miller took third place, a well-deserved honor any way you look at it.

But here’s another view, just in case.

Rounding out the list are British model and TV host Tamara Eccleston and American model and actress Elizabeth Jagger.

I’m sure all of these ladies are lovely and deserving of their lesbian admirers. But with all due respect to the poll participants, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?

Did you forget Rachel Weisz?

Lena Headey?

Keira Knightley?

are WAY younger than you and I, based on their selections. Also, I'm thinking the list was open to any famous British women (or half British...or living in Brittan), not just the actresses of note on YOUR list (that I would also pick regardless of where they live)!

At least, they strike me as surpising choices/a touch conventional. I do like the look of Elizabeth Jagger though.

Kate's gorgeous and you can see her in an oversized jumper with a mug of tea, which helps, but she's a bit "straight" ^^ ' Lovely, with more evident personality than some of the other ladies here perhaps, but not different from them in the "looks like an amazingly beautiful straight woman styled for hollywood category". I could share a pint with her though...egh, I feel like I am digging myself a hole >.> besides, show me a gorgeous, yet straight, butch looking woman and my statement falls apart :/

I like women who do not fall so easily into the glib and somewhat empty "talented and beautiful" tag that seems to follow every celebrity namedrop in the US. It's so bereft of context that it becomes a meaningless "don't sue me" provisor.

Anyhow, I think they are all very pretty (though I don't get Princess Beatrice at all; she looks like the kind of *girl* my brother would date) but I don't think I'd find any of them attractive apart from Elizabeth. Half the trouble is that I like people who are honest about who they are and you get very little impression of that trawling through media celebrity: isn't that half the problem with actors and sycophants?

All of the actresses that were put at the bottom were women I would have picked over ANY of the others. How they could omit Kate and Lena I don't know. Those two are at the top of my list.

I'm British, so I know/like lots of British stars, but my biggest crush (British or otherwise) is Emma Watson. I agree that the poll seems wierd. Peaches Geldof is indeed a sort of Paris Hilton type - nothing to recommend her in my book.

Mmmm Winslet and Weisz, my two most favorite actresses. I'd pick them over anybody any day.

But Peaches Geldof is actually pretty cool, she works for this magazine called Nylon (my favorite) and she's really fashionable and silly. She's pretty much a dork.

I'm in the UK and none of those that made that list would be anywhere near my list. I have no idea who they questioned but Lena, Kate & Rachel would be my choices and I suspect many others in the UK would agree. Peaches seriously....why? It's not even about looks but when I think pin-up, those ladies do not spring to mind.

The only problem I have with Princess Beatrice is that she always looks stunned. Her face is usually in the same position. Her weight is perfect though, she looks awesome so when I add that I think she looks 'hungry' because of how her mouth and eyes are so wide and 'non-blinking' please don' think I'm making a crack at her weight.

Peaches Geldof is a waste of space...and it's thanks to her father and whoever photographs Paris Hilton&the other has beens that she's inherited that.

I like the look of Tamara and Elizabeth, but I'm not a fan of the fake tan on Tamara!

I'd go with: Rachel Weisz, Lena Headey, Rachel Shelley, Nigella Lawson and Laura Fraser. I seem to have a soft spot for gorgeous brunettes. =D

I can only assume that there are about five women signed up at girls.parship.co.uk and they're all Sloane Rangers, and that's why the results are so strange. I'm sure that a survey of a larger group of lesbian and bi women would reveal a much more prosaic top five than the odd collection above!

I´m sorry but someone made that up, no one cares or knows very much about her in the UK nevermind being a lesbian favorite and seriously, she looks like a royal/ inbread person.

I cant imagen too many people here thinking "dam!" and before people get offended, do you really think a list which involves Sienna Miller would have Princess Beatrice as the number one pin up??. In fact all the woman mentioned on the list are not all that popuar with the general public.

There must be some mistake in translation, like, this list is women who gay men think lesbians would be attracted to or something. Although, to be fair, I would think gay guys have better taste.

Trying to figure out the demographic of lesbians the poll must have targetted: readers of Heat & Hello? And probably under 25, or maybe even under 20 :)

Otherwise it's hard to understand the results. Even for a younger demographic, I'd choose Alexa Chung (TV presenter) who's dead cool, over Beatrice or Geldoff.

And for an all ages lesbian poll, I'd select Winslet, Weisz, Blunt, Headey & Tilda Swinton over anyone else.

Sienna okay she's fit, but I thought every one hated her after the whole Rhys Ifans thing?

I agree Lena really needed to make the list. Disagree with Keira though, she may have the face but her body isn't in the least bit womanly. Now Nigella on the other hand, that's a woman.

Zoe Tapper (Mina in Demons) is my newest fave. How can 6 episodes be counted as a series though?
