Geek out time, fangrrrrls! The trailer for Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World dropped this morning, and it’s everything your comics-craving, action-adoring, video game-vibing, rock-roaring hearts could ever desire – especially the adorable Mae Whitman as half-ninja/full-lesbian Roxy Richter.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World tackles the “seven evil exes” story-arc from O’Malley’s graphic novels, in which Scott Pilgrim must defeat Ramona’s former paramours – one of whom is her college girlfriend – to win her love.
It just so happens that the ex-girlfriend/Pilgrim battle is also a Bland Ann Veal vs. George Michael Bluth fisticuffs of epic Arrested Development proportions. To think that those two were almost pre-engaged!

I’m not sure how much of Roxy’s backstory we’ll get in the film, so I’ll just go ahead and tell you that she’s Ramona’s fourth ex, and an accomplished artist with a wee bit of an inferiority complex about the fact that she’s only a half-ninja. She’s an integral part in helping Scott secure the Sword of Truth, and I actually don’t want to tell you about her ultimate defeat because it is one of the best sight-gags ever, and I just hope the film gets it right. (And that the everyone in the Audience used to own a Sega.)
