Mia Kirshner talks Hollywood and politics on Air America Radio

Air America has added another lesbian favorite to its line-up. The liberal radio network is already home to the shows of Dorothy Snarker's fantasy couple: Rachel Maddow and Ana Marie Cox. Now Air America is bringing Mia Kirshner to their "Pollywood" (Politics + Hollywood) show, Hollywood! Clout.

Kirshner is set to become a permanent guest on Hollywood! Clout each Wednesday to talk about social and international issues. She's well-versed on the subject, having spent seven years working on her book, I Live Here.

To compile the anthology, which highlights the plight of forgotten women and children all over the world, Kirshner traveled to some of the most forsaken places in the world. When the book was released last year, she told Publisher's Weekly:

It came about because of a gradual sort of feeling that I had, that the life I was leading was pretty limited. I didn’t feel like I knew enough about how the rest of the world lived. And I also felt like I just wasn’t happy creatively with what I was doing. So I did about a year of research and put this idea together: the combination of comics and first-person accounts of survival and trauma.

The motto of Kirshner's I Live Here Foundation is "Stories can change the world." She's hoping to take the stories of these women to an even larger audience on Hollywood! Clout. The show airs every weekday at 9:00 p.m. ET on Air America, or you can listen to the podcasts online.

Will you tune in to hear Mia Kirshner? You know it's going to be better than Lez Girls.

    loved her from the start

aw, i read an interview about her on the jane and jane magazine for jan/feb she's really good at what she does, and besides from playing jenny she's more than twisted psychopath lesbian, she's actually very sweet as a whole person :)

    I would

I would definitely tune in.  You can't judge a person based on their t.v. persona (especially on the L word) and I wouldn't mind learning more about her personal and political views.

I recommend to buy this compelling anthology, it's so powerful and such a great project. Though I have to warn that it stays with you for quite a while.

And Mia Krishner is of course wonderful! If I could, I would be tuning in ...

    Oh Mia!

Gosh, I'm so excited for this!

I actually went to see her at a reading for I Live Here at Powell's, she was absolutely charming and genuine.  And I Live Here is an amazing compilation.

    Kudos to Air America!

I am so in love with her...

I am so in love with her... but I don't know if that's enough to listen to talk radio.

Maybe if it's recorded and I can listen to it on my own time.

Wherever Mia goes, I will follow her. I meant that in a VERY non-stalkerish way.

The book is still on my wishlist

Mia doesnt cease to amaze me, first with an outstanding performance in The L Word, that made me hate such a sweet face like hers, now thats acting!

Then she came out with her spectacular book, which is getting nothing but good reviews and I cant wait to be a proud owner of. and now this, I just wish I could go on a humanitarian trip together or something.

Mia hun, join me on Habitat the next time, we'll have a blast!

    Nice to know that Mia

Nice to know that Mia Kirshner has a brain and a conscience! You know, in addition to being hot. Air America = pretty much my life.

    Mia Kirshner

Why, yes I will be or at least listen to some reruns of it. Mia is a brilliant actress,of course, I mentioned this before.   I saw her on Tavis Smiley show and she was talking about the book. I'm so glad she's able to do things outside of the acting genre. She seems like womyn with a heart of gold. She's not a fake person.

UPDATE: No, I'm not going to listen to her on the show as I tried loggin in just now. I have to pay to listen to Air America Radio. No thanks.  I'll check her book out though.

    Awesome!

I'm so excited! It's been a while since I've heard about her, so, this was definitely good news...and I love her voice. Mmmmm.

Wow, I had no idea she was

Wow, I had no idea she was politically motivated.

Despite her character decline in the L Word, she was always my favorite character in the first 2 seasons. I gravitated to Jenny's confusion and shyness & interest in writing,

Now it turns out she's a writer in real life! (with political/international convictions) I love this woman.

I wonder if she talks about Darfur or Uganda, or the refugee crises in Iraq whhich never sees the light of day in our media. (It's like saying "Voldermort" in Harry Potterville).

I'm in the middle of reading the Three Trillion Dollar War (which is a mindfuck) but I need to pick up her book. Too bad she's not gay in real life!
