Melissa George leaves "Grey's Anatomy"Breaking News: Actress leaves Grey's Anatomy, amicable feelings abound. Yep, Melissa George has confirmed that she is hanging up her scrubs and parting ways with Seattle Grace.
"It was my choice," she told E!'s Michael Ausiello. "I love the show so much. I've made some beautiful friends. I love T.R. Knight. I love Patrick Dempsey, Justin Chambers … I adore Ellen Pompeo. I think she's a strong, incredible woman. And Katherine Heigl is the most beautiful creature on Earth." That's quite a different song than the noise of discontent we usually hear from the Grey's set. Maybe it's because her story only lasted eight weeks. A Grey's insider told Ausiello, "Melissa's arc came to a natural end. Everyone at the show adores her. We're genuinely sad to see her go." A natural end? Genuinely sad to see her go? You mean she's not being banished to the Parking Lot of Post-Sexual Discovery, never to be seen or heard from or mentioned again? Gosh, that must be nice. You probably remember that George's character, Dr. Saddie Harris, was originally written to be bisexual, but aside from some ambiguous comments about her past with Meredith and some mild flirting with Callie, nothing ever came of it. George admits that even by Seattle Grace's warped measuring stick, Sadie was dark and twisty, and that her addition to the cast after the unceremonious departure of Dr. Hahn kind of made her a doomed character. "She was very difficult to root for," George said. It's not just Sadie who's hard to root for; Grey's Anatomy on the whole is a shell of its former self. When ABC brings in Private Practice to boost your ratings, you've got a serious problem. A passenger from the Titanic celebrates after a successful leap from the ship. Er, I mean, Melissa George makes merry at the Golden Globes Usually I would ask how you feel about George leaving Grey's or if you're excited that Jessica Capshaw has been cast as a love interest for Callie, but really the only question I have is this: Is anybody actually still watching this show? Oh, my...
I'm so NOT missing this show...
And I'm very glad I've stopped watching after Brooke Smith's departure.
Writers seem really clueless this season.
*rolls eyes*
Me too
This used to be my favourite show
Something went very wrong somewhere during Season 3, and it's been going downhill ever since.
I remember being so excited about Callica...Well, until it all went horribly wrong. Haven't watched it since.
It's a shame really, because it used to be a really good show.

Who doesn't blog these days?
eurOut for all your European queer needsThe shell game with the blondes...
will not lure me back.
The show as a whole is going down the tubes this season.
Its like the suits are dictating the storylines.
And don't think it cannot happen...it was happening for years with their daytime shows and that's why the soaps were sucking for so many years and Bianca couldn't catch a break.
Finally the daytime suits have backed off and things on the soaps are getting better.
Someone is seriously screwing with GA this television season and its unwatchable.
Best subject line ever!
re: Well said, Pyewacket!
So NOT watching anymore. Not even Kate Capshaw NAKED could bring me back...
(Okay, okay - just a peek at the recap pics of that. Just to keep my lesbian standing and all.)
Aww man, what is happening
Aww man, what is happening to this show :(
Why is Izzy a loony now? I loved her so much, then Shonda RUINED her rappour with George and generally screwed over her wonderful personality by making them sleep together.
We're finally seeing a nice Alex but its overshadowed by the crap around him.
And now all this shiz with Callie being supressed as to showing her attraction yet again.
I'm still watching
I love Sara Ramirez and as long as she's on the show I will continue to watch.
I TOTALLY saw Sadie's exit coming. As soon as she and Meredith had the talk about them not really being the bffs that we were originally led to believe. I thought the only purpose of divulging that information is to open the door for her to leave. If she was brought in to primarily be Meredith's bff then if she really isn't, then what is her purpose (especially since none of the interns are allowed in the surgeries, and there would be no Sadie and Callie hook-up)?
Im actually sad to see her go. I don't like to see characters just leave....especially when they haven't been developed. I thought it would have been a good turn for Sadie if they made her and Lexie good friends.
I LOVE Dr. Arizona...She had me from the Heelys....lol. I hope she becomes a regular and I hope she and Callie develop something.
I'm with you on this one
as long as Sara Ramirez is there, I'm watching and, you know what? enjoying!
It's sad to see Melissa George leave, even so because I adore her cenes with Sara...
for the other hand, it's clear that Callie's sexuality is not something they putted there and forgot it. She is still feling atracted to weman and I love it.
I loved Arizona too! She
I loved Arizona too! She kind of reminded me of Sydney Heron, who I also thought was awesome. Her storyline reminded me of back when Christina doubted Sydney's abilities in surgery and went to Burke, then Sydney put her in her place. It was pretty much the same thing I think. As much as I love Bailey, I liked that Arizona called her on her behaviour at the end.
I think she and Callie would be a pretty good match, they could both be silly and serious with each other.
I was kind of getting used to seeing Sadie around, but I probably wouldn't miss her when she goes.
I completely agree. As long
I completely agree. As long as SaRa is in it, I will watch, and I never expected Sadie to last very long anyway. They already said from the begining she was being cast for 8-10 eps, so what's the news? And all the spoilers said nothing would happen with Callie, so no surprises there either...
I'm not sad to see her go but I didn't dislike her. As long as her exit is better scripted than Erica's... *rolls eyes*
And I'm glad Callie's begining to be herself again. During the whole Hahn fiasco she was just awkward... I love the Callie - Mark dinamic now.
i still watch...and then i cry
i hate to say it, but i just can't stop. it's like a car accident, you just gotta stare. i have to say though, i think that the show is done. i'm guessing that it will be cancelled very soon. ever since the middle of last season things have been going downhill. and i can't help but get the feeling that all the callie/intern flirting is to try and retain some of the lgbt fanbase after the hahn fiasco. also, i hate that they have christina and meredith fighting and all the new doctors like every episode piss me off.
why am i still watching this show again?
buh-bye
I really won't miss the character of Sadie, and I'm certainly glad Callie won't be getting mixed up in another doomed romantic entanglement. I'd really like to see her develop professionally, especially after that conversation with Bailey after she broke her nose. That would be a nice shift, to actually talk about a character's career.
Ever since Brooke Smith was booted off the show, I refuse to watch Grey's on ABC.com or on tv. and I would stop altogether if not for Bailey still being awesome and Mark and Callie's friendship. The rest of the show sucks. I imagine soon they'll mess up Mark and Callie and Bailey's screen time will dwindle further....and so will my interest.
heely's...
that was the best moment of the episode for me!
of COURSE i'm still watching! why wouldn't i? not watching because one character left? silly...unless that was the only reason you watched to begin with. then, it makes sense. but i've been there since season 1, so i'm hooked for life.
not even mary mcdonnell
I agree
ANGER!
Boooo
she'll be back
I'm pretty sure she will be on this week's episode. I just hope she doesn't get the same send off as Dr. Hahn - that was dumb.
There is no stability on this show - just when you get attached to a character they mysteriously disappear. I wish I wasn't so addicted to this show. :(
btw, you're dumb.
this
Such a fan
I was a big fan of GA and it was, like, one of only 2 shows I would actually sit down and watch (the other: Battlestar Galactica!) while everything else had to hit the DVR first. But I kind of stopped watching so religiously over the last year and some because the show just kind of started to get really weird. Plus, there is only so much Meredith and Derrick same ol' relationship blah I can handle for four years straight.
And now, to make it worse, they can Brooke Smith. Brooke Smith! She's, like, one of the strongest character actors out there right now! Girl knows how to work it and I was pleased as punch when she showed up on GA, which now seems like it wasn't so long ago. And now she's poof, gone. :(
Patrick Dempsey made it pretty clear on Ellen that he does not toe the company line about this, by dragging out the card ABC wanted him to read from about her dismissal.
Shonda Rhimes and that robo press statement... c'mon, really?
And now I've just read that Melissa George is leaving but I don't know what's rumor and what's fact. And over on Ugly Betty, Rebecca Romijn has been reduced from cast regular to guest star?
So maybe this all has nothing to do with anything and it's just a whole lot of bad timing. I'm sayin'... it still stinks, though.
I used to like it,
because it was something, special.
but the way the Callica story line ended (or not ended).. that just ended the show for me.
Then my girlfriend tried to convince me that something new with melissa + callie is one the way. I told her, I dont believe that they will go through with it. and so they didn't.
and izzy sleeping with a ghost. please. thats just so out of place.
whatever...
i coudl care less. She was supposed to flirt with Callie but all we got were random doe-eyed looks and a lint removal from her hair. She was supposed to be BFFs with Meredith and suddenly 'i wish we were bestest friends like before wha ha' happint?!?'. So no. I don't care that she's leaving; i'm jus tupset that they built her up so only to do nothing with her character. Grey's is fuckin up this season.
Also. I'm not really caring about CalZone either because we all know she's only obsessing over blonde whores because she misses Hahn. That's what I will continue to believe in my brainal parts.
I got a dick like a mule...with a big dick.
It's sad to see her go. I
...
this show should make room
this show should make room for something people are interested in watching. a show that treats its storylines and characters well. MOVE ON GA! Get canceled already!

I'M STILL WATCHING!
Dood, FRICK!
WTF is going on with this show???
Are they still f-ing up this badly on the Callie-on-girl storyline? As much as I would hate to actually see it happen, they should stop right now. Cut the lifeline and let us dream of OTHER days when the flirting between Callie and Sadie was still cute.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Too bad
I was getting my hopes up for Callie/Sadie, this news made me very sad.
I still watch GA every single week and I still love it.. The one thing I don't like is Callie's storyline, it should be much better. And the comes and goes characters.
Hope Shonda has something better prepared for Callie, she deserves it.

the show demeans white women, boosts blacks.
Hopefully Katherine Heigl will be able to escape soon. The entire purpose of her storyline is to make her look silly and delusional. All of the white women are made to look ridiculous in order to give black viewers a big laugh.
Melissa George is way too talented for that show.
say whu??
have you watched this show lately? they're all retarded!!
and as a black viewer who used to religiously watch this show with her black friends and family on her black tv screen sitting in its black entertainment center, i can most assuredly tell you that none of us are laughing.... least of all the entertainment center.
what a ridiculous comment...

All the chief ever says nowadays is, "We're number 12. 12." And then proceed to weep and moan and avoid the issue. That's his contribution to every episode lately.
*points to icon* No, I'm
*points to icon* No, I'm not watching. I'd really like to. I LOVE Sara Ramirez. But I just can't.
Grey's is so whack!
Thanks for asking, because
Thanks for asking, because i was just about to write: "i dont even watch this show anymore!"
it sucks. its no where near as good as it used to be. Obviously someone on that set has a problem with same-sex characters, Even bi characters, Which is pretty sad, and stupid.
i never really got to know this character leaving. i was waiting and waiting for something to happen, but nada!
i'll even say this, i wouldn't be surprised if Callie left.
i always thought that it was pretty rude of Katherine to say she didn't want to be nominated because she didn't think the writers really gave her anything to work with, but now i understand her. The writers are totally screwing up this whole show. Especially Izzie speaking to a ghost. and i wish Christina and Meredith was shut the hell up and get together already!!!!!!!! :) thats just wishful thinking for me.
but i mean c'mon, they act like they have feelings for each other. lol.
Nope
I stopped watching this show awhile back, and given the scraps of information I've picked up here and there, I'm pretty darn happy. I think that Grey's has officially "jumped the shark" with their Izzy sleeping with dead Denny storyline. The chief still whines about being #12, and certainly Meredith and Derek will break up soon because of some commitment issue. *eye roll*
Hopefully Sara and Chandra leaves the show before it completely tanks and they are forever associated with it.
"That which you believe becomes your world."
Amen to that!
Amen to that!
Melissa George is smart
btw StuntDouble the caption for the second photo is simply genius lol
Gray days on grey
ugh. disappointed. still
ugh.
disappointed.
still watching even though its going nowhere. i just like to see all their pretty faces.
HE'S DEAD!
Eh. I won't be missing her
greys
Definitely still watching!!!
Ahh!
It does get harder to watch by the episode...
I'm still a fan..so I'll just see where all of this is going...
Give Grey's a Break
I've watched the show since day one, and of course, this season they're a bit off, but this is too much. first, pp was switched to after grey's to save pp - last chance before cancelation, and not the other way around. also - say what you say - grey's still one of the most watched shows out there.
but the most important thing -i think most people are too hard on grey's. give the show a break - they gay community got their hopes too high before callica, and then when hahn left - they're picturing it as the worst show on earth. i don't in any way have anything nice to say about how they let hahn go, but people - give grey's a break. i think it does do a lot of good for us - i mean, callie didn't just go back to go men, instead, she's seriousely exploring that side of her. and she said to mark that she's not ready to date again, so they are giving her a grieving time over hahn. it's not like they're de-gaying her! and look, she's exploring herself on the hot intern front (sadie) that is hilarous, but she's not ready to get involved again, and she's a bit intimidated by sadie and the intern thing, and now she's gonna get more serious with arizona. i mean, did we have any other top network show that allowed a charecter to explore its sexuality like that (3 girls?) and yes, it's a side storyline, but callie have always been a minor charecter. so i think that we need to give the show a break - callie is perhaps the only openly bisexual women who's actually dating and exploring that side of her in network shows - specifically - one of the most watched shows. so lets give it a break. i think a lot of the anger comes from people who only started to watch the show for callica and are now just upset. but this show is still an ally usually - callie is openly admitting she's a bisexual every week and talking about it. and personally, i never liked hahn - i thought she was a bitch, and cringed when they made her gay - its just reinforced the stigma about gay women as men hating, unhappy women, who are total bitches. i didn't think they had chemistry either. they fired her badly, yes, but still, i still believe they way they deal with callie's sexuality on a weekly basis is good for us on the whole. its not just a sweep thing, when they de-gayed her afterwards. she's still very much a bisexual.
nonetheless, i do hope they drop the whole danny izzie thing soon, its just pathetic - he's dead!. i do hope the show will get back to its original roots again, it was a great show until this season.
Another character leaps off into the sun
I liked Sadie and her crazy personality! I don't understand what Melissa means that she was hard to root for after Hahn left.. I don't see how?
So is it confirmed or anything that T.R. Knight will be leaving the show?
