Jennifer Beals returns to "Lie to Me"

Dear Jennifer Beals,

Hi, it's us: your lesbians. You remember us, right? Even though you're not playing gay anymore? Of course you remember us; you're always out supporting us in one way or another, aren't you? Well, we're just writing to say we support you too, and when we heard you were returning to your role as Assistant U.S. Attorney Zoe Landau on Fox's Lie to Me next season, we were so happy!

OK, actually we were 75 percent happy and 25 percent sort of conflicted. Or, you know 60-40. Actually, it was more like half and half.

We are happy that your character is coming back in a more frequent recurring role, because that means the audience obviously liked you a lot. And why wouldn't they? Zoe Landau is a power-suit rocking bad-ass with a commanding exterior and a little bit of sappy, gushy goo underneath. We love you like that!

Also, we are happy because some people predicted that after The L Word you'd be relegated to the Lifetime Movie Network. And it's not that we don't occasionally spend a Sunday in our pajamas, eating ice cream straight from the container while being captivated by the harrowing tale of a wife who gets pregnant by her dentist while under anesthesia, but is then forced to incubate her baby in prison after running over her husband's mistress with an SUV because she was also the cheeerleading coach who cut her daughter from the team.

OK, that's a lie. We never do that. But sometimes our girlfriend does it, and we don't judge.

What we're saying is that we're glad you are having success on a major network.

The reason we're conflicted is — well, there are two reasons. One, you make Lie to Me about fifteen-times more implausible. Not your acting or anything. Thing is, the show already asks a lot in terms of suspension of disbelief — which is fine. We totally believe the stuff on Bones could happen — but then you come sassing onto the screen and we're supposed to believe that you were actually married to (and are possibly still in love with) Cal Lightman. Is it the accent? It has to be the accent, right? Because you're about eleven levels hotter than him. Also, he's kind of a prick.

The second reason we're conflicted is, we just really like to see you kiss girls. The way you just give yourself over to it, all tender but aggressive, open-mouthed, tongues clashing, heavy breathing, Feist crooning in the background, head tossed back in ecstasy until the moment you — hem hem. Sorry. It's just, well:

Right? Are we right? Kissing girls is awesome!

Anyway, the point is, when you return to Lie to Me on Fox on September 28th, we'll be watching. And if you ever decide to try your hand at Lifetime, we'll watch that too. We'll watch you in anything, forever and ever.

Ask Cal Lightman; he'll know we're telling the truth.

    Why this JB? I have tried and tried with this show, and I just can't stand it! Oh well, I can record it and fast forward through all the scenes without her in them.

     i guess i made my point? also i actually think the guy from "lie to me" is handsome - and sexappeal doesn't only come from looks, but mainly from appearance and acting, i guess (judging from the above pic too).

     It helps that I also really like Lie To Me.

    And I think Cal is a handsome chap- not conventionally- but yeah I can see where the appeal is... sort of. That being said: Cal vs Tina? I think we know who wins ;)

    yes it is hard to see her play a different role but shes a great actress so therefore I will watch her in everything.

    BTW, I just finished watching Devil In A Blue Dress, in which she starred in.

    and as crazy as your lifetime plot sounds, or maybe that's just me, I wouldn't be suprised if someone from this wonderful network will probably read that and go.."hmm...now that's just a brilliant idea for a show".Ahem, not that I would know what's on Lifetime anyways. lol But yeah, I think my wife(though she doesn't quite know it yet) will do well attracting audiences no matter what network she's on.

    ahh loved the article ;) I'm so glad she will be back on lie to me.. I pretty much watch the eps that shes in. I will of course watch her in anything ;) even a crazy plot on lifetime. I just wish we'd see her even more. Missing the L word like crazy!

    OMG were you reading my mind or listening in to my conversations?! LOL...

    I admit, I totally love love love JB! I'm thrilled she'll be back on FOX, but the show leaves much to be desired. If not for her, I'd never tune in. And yes, it's so hard to believe she could've ever been married to Cal. One word: Ew.  She's always been SO much hotter than her male co-stars... another thing that has always been baffling to me.

    I miss BETTE... I miss TIBETTE... their chemistry will never be duplicated! I'm hoping Ilene won't make us wait forever to see them again.

    So... until then I guess I'll tune in because frankly, she's gorgeous and an amazing actress and like you said... she supports us... we shall continue to support her!

    I would watch her do anything, read the phonebook, the obituary page. I'd be even happier if she was wearing a power suit, or a tank top, or that infamous off the shoulder number from Flashdance or perhaps Lady Godiva's outfit...

    How could we not watch her forever and ever??? Even if it means seeing her kiss icky boys like Cal Lightman :P

    I kinda like Lie to Me. But I definitely enjoy it a whole lot more when she's on it ;)

    I will watch anything with Jennifer Beals in it....and if her role happens to be an alpha-female, type-A personality, incredibly sexy power suit wearing role, I will tape it. Hahaha I hate this show but my God is Jennifer gorgeous and talented.

     

    Also: totally cute first sentence, "hi it's us, your lesbians." We totally ARE her lesbians! :)

    To be honest before TLW I didn't even know who JB was cus Flash Dance was before my time. But ever since the pilot episode I have loved her! I love watching her interviews, just that softly softly way she speaks!

    I like Lie To Me, though I only tuned into watch her, and am sooooo happy she is gonna be returning but am I the only one who has the fantasy that she might run off with one of the other female collegues of Hal??? I'm sure it isn't just me!

    I'm glad Jennifer is back on tv, I just really wish it was on a show that had a chance. This show is boring. I just can't see it going on for more then 4 weeks. How many times can an actor say he's lying, his eyebrow moved, geeze its just boring.

    Will I watch you betcha. Maybe they will give Jennifer some real lines, have a few real plots and then JB can carry this turkey for a few seasons.

    Maybe I'm just superficial as hell. Watching Jennifer play second no 4th fiddle to this goofy dork(no disrespect Cal Lightman) is hard, really hard. I want to see her on an edgy show where she is the lead and maybe at least a hint of bi. Yep I'm just superficial as hell. sigh....

    I don't watch this show because I think The Mentalist does it better, but I really like her style in this picture. She looks awesome. The lighting looks nice too.
