Catching up with the cast of "The L Word"Every autumn for the last six years, lesbians everywhere have crowded around their computers for pre-season L Word training. Whether it was the Spoiler Dig, the Speculation Sprint or the Great Shipping War, we all came together with a common goal — to survive another season of our favorite Sapphic soap. This year there will be no pre-season training because the ladies of The L shimmied off into the sunset — or, you know, drowned — after their sixth season. They may be far away from WeHo , but they're never far from our hearts. So, we thought we'd take a few minutes to catch up with The L Word cast. Where are they now? Well... Jennifer Beals will be returning to Fox's truth-telling drama, Lie to Me, on the second episode of the season, "Truth or Consequences," on Oct. 5. (Note: the episode was originally scheduled as the third of the season, but it has been bumped up.) Here she is as U.S. Assistant Attorney Zoe Landau, sitting in on a meeting with her ex-hubs.
And here she is playing my-briefcase-is-bigger-than-yours with some dude who will obviously lose the game.
Beals also has a small role in the upcoming apocalyptic action flick Book of Eli with Denzel Washington. Check out the trailer and watch her cry. Book of Eli hits theaters Jan. 15, 2010. The other half of the Mighty Tibette, Laurel Holloman, appeared on an episode of ABC's Castle last week. Holloman's screen time was limited and the scene was pretty bleak, what with her husband getting thrown off a building in the first ten minutes.
On the plus side, you can check out the patented Holloman head-nod and eye-roll in the clip below. Mia Kirshner, Rose Rollins, Pam Grier and Kate French participated in "Pillow Talk" last weekend at the House of Blues at The Showboat in Atlantic City. Gosh, they're still cute. (Rose Rollins, call me!)
I can never remember the name of the Nikki/Jenny ship, but whatever it was it's better than the ship Kate French's character was on when she bonked Chuck Bass on last season's Gossip Girl.
Out, proud, full-time employed Clementine Ford graces the cover of the October issue of Curve.
Inside, she talks about her mom, about making the transition to daytime star and about her girlfriend, Linda Perry. Reflecting on her time with The L Word, Ford said: Well, not to be all crazy feminist and whatever, but there is something really incredible ... take the lesbian thing aside — so much of the crew were women, and being in that environment, working with so many strong women, was so empowering. It made me feel really positive. On whether or not she would date someone like Shane: That's funny [because] I think I have. I think we have all dated someone like Shane — and been someone like Shane at some point. There's people out there who would have some stories about me that are not great.
On what she does in her downtime: I'll tell you a secret — and she might get mad at me but I don't care, print it — Elizabeth Keener who plays Dawn Denbo, loves America's Next Top Model. We text each other about it. You can watch a behind-the-scenes video of the photo shoot at the photographer's website, here. And you can check out the October issue of Curve for lots more photos and the full interview. Oh, and speaking of Shane, Kate Moennig's doctor drama, Three Rivers premieres on CBS on Oct. 4. How are you filling your time this autumn without The L Word pre-season training? Submitted by on September 28, 2009 - 6:00pm. |

Strangely, I don't miss TLW
Psst...neither do I
But truthfully I never got into the show until Shane and Molly hooked up. Before that I was in and out for the first two seasons. Then Erin left the show I just lost all interest. The show just had no appeal to me.
I realize it was a milestone because of the content and all. But if this was the best we could do, then why even bother? I'd rather watch Exes & Ohs. At least that show doesn't make me feel guilty afterward.

Jennifer Beals in the movie Book Of Eli
Ok so Jennifer Beals gets a small role and that means her name is not on the main opening credits. I'm disappointed. I'm surprised Mila Kunis got a bigger role over her. (I dig Mila a lot). It's difficult to get a major role w/ a Big star like Denzel. I'm proud of J.B. I'm not going to watch BOE,too violent. I'm surprised Denzel took the role.
I hope Jennifer B will get bigger roles than that one she is playing in BOE. I'm crossing my fingers.
Thank Goodness Holloman's screen time was limited
She doesn't look too good from this photo. Now where's that girl who called Cheri Jaffe "shriveled and old" Here's one for you darlin'!
Technology Will Lead To The Demise Of Civilization As We Know It.
Wow, yeah...
What happened to her?
She does look better during the actual clip at least, but I guess playing a guy's wife role does not bring out the best in her???
She is playing a woman who
She is playing a woman who just lost her husband, so no she's not going to look all done up. However, this picture is a bad shot, as she looks fine in the clip I saw on Youtube. Also, she is about 38 years old so she isn't all that young to begin with.
I think she's a great looking woman.
I know that you must feel that...
You personally need to defend Laurel from her detractors but it isn't necessary. Lasurel is =fine and isn't fazed by us who don't find her attractive.

Jenny/Niki ship was Jenniki :)
Mila Kunis
good god !! she is so hot!! especially when she slid on those shades
...im soooo drooling right now =)
Nice to see the women, and
for the most part looking even cuter than in TLW! (I guess Laurel Holloman was purposely made to look bad? Or is it ABC? Not being Bette's wife?)
That clip to see Jennifer Beals was more than I want to see of that movie......Love Denzel Washington but not like that, and Beals in a bit part? No, no, no.
Did everyone see him in Inside Man with Jodie Foster? Good film, and she plays a great role.

Wish you would give updates on the L Word actresses EVERY month! We fans don't get tired of hearing about them. But, what about Leisha? I read she's doing a horror film. Would luv to hear more about that. She and Cam (UHH) are working on their 2nd album too. Who knows when that will be relesed. It should be great.
Erin Daniels recently had a baby boy and Rachel Shelley had a baby girl, but we don't hear much about them.
You mentioned Mia Kirshner being in Atlantic City last week. Thought Mia was still in Malawi on her project. Would it be possible to date your blogs so we have some sort of timeline to refer to when looking back on your blogs.
Thanks for the updates.
yeahh I heard about Leisha
yeahh I heard about Leisha doing that horror movie to, I think it's called Fertile Ground?
Don't argue with my superior wisdom, okay? -Dana Fairbanks <3
That's it!!
For the life of me I couldn't remember where I had seen the character who accuses Nathan of being her "Baby Daddy" on One Tree Hill...
...It's Kate French!
*slaps forehead*

I haven't watched an episode of tlw since the finale. That's really saying something because I used to have a marathon at least once a month. I really still cannot watch any of the old episodes because the last season was so terrible. Its going to be awhile before I do. Seeing these girls makes me miss it, but I cannot get the finale out of my head. Damn Ilene Chaiken she ruined my favorite show.

L word marathons...
I hear ya--I used to have tlw playing ALL THE TIME when I was home working and since season 6 I've had to give it a rest. It actually makes me sad to watch the first season when all the potential for goodness was still swirling around.
I'm spending this fall completing my own lesbo-centric screenplay. I have written a full season of a great story & look forward to self-producing as well as pitching it to hollywood executives, so maybe we can have a whole new gay "soap" to enjoy soon...
Kate French
Is appearing on the CW's One Tree Hill as the b*tch whose ruining everything haha aka Renee.
Let's get one thing straight, I'm not.

of the L Word...was not crazy about the writing.
But, it had its good points (hot women). I do miss the girls, it's nice to know what they are working on.

I miss seeing these beautiful women
I am sad the show is over but I am also happy more gays are in mainstream shows this Fall. I miss seeing some lesbian sex on TV. There is really nothing anymore. Lesbian sex on TV=more sex for me with my partner. Score! You can score maybe $1,200 if you share your Coming Out Story at www.shedate.com. Hope to see you there with thousands of other lesbians who have shared. 3 days left to share (9/30).

So did Rose Rollins fall off
Yes!
How AMAZING does Rose Rollins look in that picture? Hot damn.
I hope we see her in something new soon (there's the Girltrash! movie, right) because she is just too talented and too beautiful to go unnoticed.
The trailer for Book of Eli looks pretty amazing--I'm not a big fan of that genre usually but Denzel, Mila Kunis and Jennifer Beals?! Yes, please.
Sufficed to say, I miss the actresses of The L Word but I don't miss the show at all.

laurel holloman
I gotta admit that I'm not a huge fan of Laurel Holloman's acting style [covers head with hands]. She was OK in the L Word, but her more dramatic roles as Justine in Angel and in the clip above seem a little forced. If I had just found out my partner were killed, I wouldn't be calmly making tea. I'd be raging and in denial. Or at least pretty damn distant.

clementine and kate SO
clementine and kate SO DATED. or at least hooked up a few times.
just sayin.
Agree!
really?! yeah she was on
awww...
How I miss TLW girls so much. Everyone remain hot... not to mention, Rose Rollins certainly leaves me with my mouth agape... :-P
And guys... give Laurel a break-- she's HOT, period. Sandy Allen is a deadman's ordinary housewife and not a movie exec like Tina Kennard. C'mon that's what make-up artists get paid for... ;-)
And oh, way to go JB!!! :-D
I don't get it..
All this bitching and complaining about The L Word.. I don't get it!
Okay, there are quite a few things to disagree on: unrealistic representation of lesbians, unresolved/screwed up storylines, awkward plot devices..what else is new? It's a freaking tv show, for frak's sake. It's not exactely supposed to be realistic. It's a place where everything - or almost - is idealized and if you take that certain element of magic away, you also take all the fun out of it. So, we should be grateful we even had a lesbian tv show on air.
Peace out..
;)
Mia is looking beautiful as always, but Rose Rollins... wow *drool*. Tasha wasn't my type but Rose is looking mighty fine *blows kisses*

Why wasn't OUT in AC covered by AfterEllen?
I'm happy to see that AfterEllen at LEAST mentioned Out in Atlantic City but was extremely disappointed that AfterEllen did not cover it like it normally does for other lesbian-centric events. Granted, it was only the first year the event occurred but I don’t understand the oversight. They had several L Word cast members, first posing with fans at a meet-and-greet for about an hour, and then the same cast members chatted with fans in the form of a Q&A. They also had Lori Michaels, a relatively well-known lesbian performer, host the Q&A as well as the after-party. Was it not “big” enough?
I went and it definitely could’ve been better attended. We need to encourage companies like Harrah and cities like Atlantic City that it’s important to cater to our community, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it is economically sound to do so. AfterEllen, being the arguably most influential lesbian website, could’ve helped the event with attendance had there been SOME coverage. Plus some rather outrageous dialogue occurred at the Q&A. If AfterEllen had one of their many MANY brilliant writers there to cover the event, it would’ve resulted in some amazing (and funny) articles.
