Bisexual women get some love on "Millionaire Matchmaker"
If you are the kind of person who can spend an entire rainy Saturday in your pajamas with nothing to entertain you but your TV and a plate of brownies (don't judge!), then you know the high value of Bravo's reality programming. It's a delicious mix of of gays, friends of gays, employees of gays, panels of gays, professional gays, wannabe gays, famous gays, housewives from every corner of the country, and all-inclusive train wrecks. Unfortunately, Millionaire Matchmaker is the exception to Bravo's rule, as Patti Stanger always seems to tie gays to the train tracks.
So, imagine our surprise when Cupid-to-the-rich decided to hook-up a bi-curious divorcee with a woman on this week's episode.
Meet Tricia Cruz, a "free-spirited 38 year-old ... who is thinking about switching teams and dating women."
Tricia is recently divorced, and now that she's back in the field, she's remembering an experience she had in college with another woman, and thinking she might want to turn that into a lifetime of experiences. Patti wonders if maybe she's still reeling because her husband cheated on her, so now she's going to go in the complete opposite direction, in terms of penises.
Patti is usually pretty good at giving dating advice, but mostly it's stuff like, "Stop talking so much and let her get in a sentence." Or, "Stop staring at her breasts." Or, you know, "Do not take your garbage truck on the first date and make her haul rubbish." Followed by, "We're calling her right this minute so you can apologize for taking your garbage truck on the first date and making her haul rubbish."
Fortunately, either Patti or Matchmakers' producers realized she was out of her psychological/intellectual league with Tricia, so they set up an appointment for her to talk to a legitimate professional.
Tricia: To me it's not if you're female or male, but if you're a good person.
Dr. Nikki: So here you are at this potentially new stage of your life. What you want to do is be authentic. Is my authentic desire to be with a woman? Then I want to learn to do that. Or I want to be open to do that. And that includes all your feelings, your hopes, your dreams, your fantasies. And I think it's brave. And I think it's wondrous that you're opening to this possibility.
At her mixer, Tricia chooses to go on a date with a woman named Tyler. Sadly their date is so super-awkward that Tricia calls Patti during dinner to tell her she's not feeling any chemistry at all — which is a bummer, because they go roller skating and then have dinner on the rink. (If it's followed by brownies, it's the perfect date!)
Her one date with a woman convinces Tricia she's not really interested in women.
That part's too bad, but also it's how real life works sometimes. The good part is Dr. Nikki's advice, and the fact that Patti and her team were open to setting Tricia up with a woman. It's nice to see bisexual/bi-curious women being treated with respect instead of being treated like drunken spring break mishaps caught on tape.
Did anyone catch Millionaire Matchmaker? What do you think of Dr. Nikki's advice?

Yeah, Tyler wouldn't have been my type either, but that doesn't mean I'm not into girls. Just not into one girl

Bi and pansexual women in the media
This is the first episode of Millionaire Matchmaker I've ever seen, so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised that one of the women who were to go to the mixer to meet Tricia identified as pansexual. In my personal experience, coming out as pansexual was really difficult, so, to see a rather positive, albeit brief, portrayal of another woman who identifies this way on TV was refreshing.
Overall, the episode was just OK. I was a bit disappointed that, in the end, the "Millionairess" rejected the possibility of having a relationship with a woman just because her first date with Tyler was lacking chemistry... Other than that, I was just a little annoyed that Patti seemed to want Trish to pick a side - I believe that she said something along the lines of wanting to give Trish the opportunity to choose whether she wanted to be with men or women. However, the Doctor's advice to be "authentic" certainly made up for any of the shortcomings this episode may have had.

The first questons i had
The first questons i had were how long ago was the divorce? Has she had time to heal possibly with the help of a therapist from it? Maybe through that process she would answer some fo the curiosity part and not drag some unsuspecting soul into her confusion.
It's not all about her,but about her dates too.
Yes, it's TV and all about ratings, but this is for the viewer who now thinks it's okay to try ONE out.Ack! Thump the tires and such.
I totally agree with
I totally agree with Adrianne Curry
I saw the episode and liked it
it wasn't the fact that she had no chemistry with Tyler that made her say i'm not into women. It was the fact that she told Patti that during a conversation with Tyler about how did Tyler know that she was into women, made her realize that she was just into men.
"Come On Then Get These Good Done Debbies"
This episode:]
The minute tricia was introduced it was easy to see that she was just hurt by men and so she was trying to run away from her feelings of being betrayed. Tyler was sexy and sweet. On the date,Tricia was disappointed when tyler acted like like a girl as if she forget she forgot tyler had a vagina! :] Stick with men my friend and good luck.
Also the other millionare guy was really sweet, but Im sad he didn't pick mylie who was so beautiful and had way more to offer than HEIDI! lol:]
Just Saying
I'm just saying that i cannot believe she didn't pick Brittany Rae... i mean come on! I would totally pick Brittany!!! She needs better taste but glad she figured out things. I'd hate to see her lead on anyone.
I loved the other date, they went well together! :)
????
Did anyone else notice that Brittany from Tila Tequila's Shot at Love, season 2 attended the mixer for the millionares?? Besides the girl above me? haha
She commented on how adorable the farmer guy was.
Someone's takin' advantage of the reality tv scene, haha.
When I play doctor, I play to win.
Well ya know
Well, in that case
can I have Tyler please? That date sounded puuuurfect.
"their laughter was more touch than sound."
I don't watch this show.
I will probably never actually watch this show.
But I absolutely love Tyler, and would very much like to thank my dear friend for telling me about this, so I could drool over Tyler.

Speakin of Bisexuality
I really enjoyed watchin this show! Hot Tyler indeed.
Just wondering, has anyone seen any good bisexual vlogs or blogs out there...?
I haven't seen many.
Cheers!
I'm addicted to this show
I'm addicted to this show even though Patti is sooo awful sometimes. I think she means well, more or less, but all her crap about "What, you want to marry a bisexual? She'll just leave you for a woman!" And when she was telling that sweet, mild-mannered Midwestern guy "Oh all gay guys have sex on the first date, how can you avoid it?" Ack! Makes me embarrassed to be straight. So it's good she set this lady up, but passing over a gender because of one blah date? Couldn't that just as easily have happened with a guy? Oh well.
If there are other Bravo fans about, does anyone else wonder that the hell the point of Kell on Earth is? I watch that too even though it seems to be just a bunch of people in an office griping at each other.
She wasn't bi or even a straight women who wanted a woman

Is Tyler trans?
I saw the episode with Trisha and Tyler. I thought it was a good thing that the show profiled a female-female date, but it was disappointing that the date didn't go so well.
Is it just me, or did Tyler seem more trans than lesbian?
The vibe I got was way more transboi than lesbian. That's no problem, but it does change a little bit how you view the entire date/episode.
I agree with the other posters that just because Trisha didn't click with Tyler doesn't mean she wouldn't like to date other women. Personally, I don't consider "bicurious" a sexual orientation. I just means someone who is curious about sleeping with the same sex. Bisexual is a legitimate sexual orientation though. I think Trisha was too quick to dismiss her feelings for women. She had after all, according to the show, had a lesbian fling in college. Of course, it is she who knows what she feels the most so we are really all just speculating.
I hope they do another show that features a female-female couple and that the real, "gay women" are older, professional type women and not 20-somethings. I have no problem with 20-something dykes, but I do think they are what society stereotypical thinks of lesbians - short, spikey hair, dude's clothing, body piercings, tatoos, frequent "women's bars"...I'd rather see a professional woman who is more suburban America, loves sports, goes to the country club and happens to be a happy and confident gay woman. They'd have no qualms about showing this sort of gay man. I guess they can only profile the people who are willing to be on camera and the mainstream lesbians might not want to do it.
Anyway, thanks for posting a story on this.
More Trans Than Lesbian?
More like trans and lesbian, butch-as-gender, third gender butch etc. Oh, they're still dykes. And they're not really portrayed that often on TV.

Pink roller skates don't work!
The reason the date with Trisha and Tyler didn't go well was that Trisha expected Tyler to put on pink and white roller skates. What self-respecting butch would want to do that? She did do in and in turn felt uncomfortable with herself and the date just was a disaster...
Also, I think it was too high-pressure having the two of them alone in a big empty roller arena. They should have gone to the beach, gone for a walk and a bite to eat. I hate big, cold, and dark arenas. It's California for goodness sakes...they should have hit the broadwalk or frolicked in the sand and surf.
I thought the date at the flower farm was nice. They could have done something like that for Trish and Tyler. I always think outdoor dates are better...especially if the weather is great.
