in defense of her statement and the person who is annoyed about straight woman wanting to be lesbian icons...I was at university with her in England, and my house mate was a good friend of hers. She wasn't famous then, but well known for being beautiful AND swinging both ways...

She may have settled on one swing of the pendulum or the other since then, but it could explain her 'soft spot' for lesbians...!

My admiration for Rachel Weisz goes a long time back but my god, the last photo totally killed me. :o)

Not only she's a beautiful, JEWISH, BRITISH lady, her intelligence pours from every inch of that beautiful face...

She's got the biggest right to be a lesbian icon and the fact she not only embraces it (in her case I believe she truly does) but also wants to star in some proper L film...my god, I can die happy if that happens.

I don't think Sarah Waters' Night Watch has been made into a movie yet.  Of course, we could always just readapt Fingersmith every year with different actresses.  That has to be the best lesbian novel/movie of all time.  Or we could lock Sarah Waters in the dungeon and threaten her with the addled ramblings of Megan Fox until she writes another lesbian novel specifically so that Rachel could play in the film adaptation.

Whoa, will I never forget my first experience drooling over Rachel.  I had to see the movie a second time because I didn't remember anything about it due to my being in a full on daze.

And that black and white picture of her above.  Well, let's just say, I'm drooling all over again.  Sheesh, some people just win the genetic lottery.

Rachel Weisz gets me every time her style, grace, accent. I'd watch her through anything even if it was directed by IC. Bi/Gay/ Straight, I don't care she is still one of my favorites.

She would love to play gay until...she actually does and then she'll probably pull an Olivia Wilde and complain about it limiting her growth as an actress.

You just know, don't you that Oivia's dissatifaction playing a  "bisexual" had less to do with overwelheming lesbian outpour and reaction to the character 13 being bisexual than it had with Wilde's deep seeded homophpbia.

I don't even know why AfterEllen continues to hype her cause I don't find her attractive, and I love "the beautiful".

And when did Rachel become a lesbian Icon? Did it happen when she made Whiteout or what?  She did made Whiteout right? Doesn't matter cause she's another one.

But I'm also of two minds when someone not gay gushes about wanting to be a gay icon. It's great when people are tolerant and open-minded, but I don't like the idea of gay being just another trend.

She's great for roles of strong women and  excels from majority of other (big) hollywood actresses of her age.
