"Mutant Enemy Day" on the picket lines

Ever wonder what would happen if Joss Whedon sent out a call to action? The answer appeared in the form of 400 actors, writers and fans walking the WGA picket lines with Whedon this past Friday, including Buffy writing alums Drew Goddard and Jane Espenson.

Sarah Michelle Gellar brought doughnuts.

Summer Glau and Nathan Fillion reminisced about Firefly.

And Eliza Dushku was there, instead of filming the new show Dollhouse, which is being created for her by Whedon.

Obviously, Dollhouse is one of the many shows on hold until the strike ends. Not that Dushku isn't keeping busy in the meantime. She's set to star in a new independent film called The Thacker Case, based on the 1983 death of Kevin Thacker, a repeat drunk-driving offender found dead in an alley behind the Marshalltown, Iowa police station after an arrest. Dushku will be playing a young attorney assisting with the wrongful death case.

Filming on the indie flick started last week in both Iowa and Los Angeles. Clearly Dushku managed to squeeze out a day off to go support her friend Joss out on the picket lines. Would it be too stalkerish of me to try to find out when she'll be filming in Iowa, just so I can go catch a glimpse?

    All Hail Joss

I just hope that Joss continues to use his awesome powers for good, and not evil....

     400 people??? Now that's power.

And I appreciate any post that allows forces us to put up pictures of Eliza Dushku, purely for research purposes of course, in case we forget what she looks like!

MAN!!  I wish I coulda been

MAN!!  I wish I coulda been there, and not across the seas in the UK!!  Damnit!  This post was clearly an excuse for excessive Eliza-age, but I am not complaining :D.  Joss is the man!  May he continue to be awesome for a long time to come!

    I give.

Clearly you're on to my scheme.  At least it was a good excuse, no?

    It is an excellent

It is an excellent excuse!!  But quite frankly is there a bad excuse for posting Eliza pics?  If there is I'm yet to find one!!

    Go Joss...

It just goes to prove what a great guy Joss must be in order for 400 of his friends to come out to support him and the rest of the striking writers.

It's posts like this that make me wish I lived closer to Los Angeles, so that I could be there to show my support as well.

    mmm

I must confess, I am not much into the Buffy genre as a whole. However, they do seem to cast some FINE ladies. I also applaud their incorporation of lesbian storylines.

That last pic of Eliza is breathtaking!

    Uh ...

I don't think SMG *eats* donuts. Maybe she bought them for everyone else, and just took small, short sniffs every 2 minutes.

I smile, I grin, when the gal with a touch of sin walks in
I hope, and I pray, for a Hester to win just one more "A"

    joss in boston

Joss will be at an event supporting the WGA strike in Boston Friday Dec 14th.

The event starts with a talk by writers at 12pm at the Meeting House of the First Parish on Church St near Harvard Square. Seating is first-come, first served.

This will followed by a rally outside the Harvard Lampoon building.

    Joss & comp.

I had to come back in here today to look at the pics again.  I wish there had been one of SMG delivering the circles of joy.  I hope I never meet Joss in person, I admit I'd use his friendship to hang out with the women in his life.  I mean he's pretty rad himself but as soon as his entourage strolled by, I'd be lost to him.

    Joss

I really think Joss could take over the world. I wanted to be at this picket so badly and just reading the list of writers/actors who were there - sounded like my wildest dreams come true lol I would do anything to meet Joss Whedon and the idea of marching shoulder-to-shoulder with him overwhelms me... it would be such an honor to show support in that way.
Ugh. I wish I could have been there. It looked like so much fun (there's a fan documentary being put up in parts on youtube).
