"Battlestar Galactica": Onward toward Earth

I've spent the last several days reviewing the trials and tribulations of a certain group of humans as they trek toward Earth. I think watching Katee Sackhoff calling timeouts in Bionic Woman has made me long for more Starbuck. Well, that and rereading some of Malinda's blogs.

I was a latecomer to the Battlestar Galactica bandwagon and spent most of season 3 catching up on seasons 1 and 2. And now that I've finally caught up with the rest of the BSG world, I'm sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the return of the cylons. OK, to be honest, I'm waiting for the return of three particular cyclons.

Lucky for me, November is closing in fast, and that means we get to see more of Admiral Cain commanding the Pegasus in Razor. Here's just one of several very brief sneak peaks for the upcoming two-hour movie.

But the best news is that Season 4 of BSG has finally started filming and is slated for a January 2008 premiere. The new preview has been released by the Sci Fi Channel, and it goes a little something like this.

I don't know about you, but I can't wait to find out what's in store for our human heroes. Oh, and that one yet-to-be-revealed humanoid cylon. Anyone else dying to know who's not as human as he or she pretends to be? Here's one more little video just to tide you over until the frakking show starts up again. Trust me, you wanna watch it.

    I LOVE Battlestar Galactica

I LOVE Battlestar Galactica and I'm so excited for the fourth season...Thanks for posting the vids, I hadn't seen them yet and now I'm all giddy! Lucy Lawless is coming back for a few episodes as well, so that's awesome as well. January can NOT come soon enough (though it gives me time to re-watch the first three seasons again).

    November!!!

I can't wait for the mini-movie teaser in november to tide me over until the next series starts!  I only watch Bionic Woman for my fav Starbuck...

    All I can say is

The rumors better not be true that they are going to wait to show the final 10 episodes of BSG in 2009 so that the can squeeze more money out of the show without having to pay for a 5th season. I will be so pissed if they do that although I such a big fan I'll have no choice but to grit my teeth and bear it.

    Starbucks...not just for breakfast!

Thanks for the BSG update. Can’t wait for January. My flatmates where highly committed BSG viewers and I initially discarded the show as some shallow action/ sci-fi stuff.

Oh Girl! Was I wrong. I borrowed Season 1 because I suffered from insomnia for a while and thought it would put me to sleep-putting oil in fire-needless to say it kept me on the edge

and I watched Season 1 in nearly one go. (Well I took more time to slowly savor Seasons 2 and 3).

Smart show with so many different story layers!! Love Starbucks and her attitude…..so much better than the coffee…..sooooo much better..sigh!

    OOOOOOH! YUM!

    GREAT!

The BEST show on TV is coming back!

Guess I'll have to dust off the edge of my seat in preparation...

Re-imaginings are rarely good tv/movie fodder but BSG beats them all into a cocked hat for gripping viewing!

Plus, there's always the appeal of the lay-deez ;-)

    YUM!

    OMG...

I think I just found my new favorite show!

How come no one told me before about all these hot women running around in space? Or possibly worse, how come people told be and I didn't pay attention?

    Gods!!

That last clip of everyone saying Frak was tooooo funny.  I was trying to hold off watching clips so I wouldn't be so impatient.. but that didnt work!  I really hope they do the Cain/Gina storyline justice and it isnt just some flppiant thing.

I cannot wait until Nov.  This show is amazing on so many levels.  The character depth.. the storyline.. the strong women.. the music... camera angles... casting..   I miss Kat :-(

Vash, I do think the rumors are true since Jamie Bamber said it very angrily at Dragoncon (I wasn't there... but I read!).  Sci fi always f's up the good shows.. all 3 of them.

    VashtheStampede's picture

    I was at Dragon Con

I was at Dragon Con, which is where I first heard the rumor too. I didn't hear it live because I was at the Mythbusters' panel (as big a fan I am of BSG there was no way I was going to miss the chance to see Kari Byron live LOL), but it was one of the major buzzes of the convention shortly afterwards. I agree; the Sci-Fi Channel doesn't care about the fans and is only in it for the money (Farsacpe anyone); the fact that they are willing to jerk us around like this just to milk another year out of the show is all the proof you need.

    Farscape

Yes indeedy I was talking about Farscape :-)  Boy did they screw that up.   I really dont have a #3 show they screwed up cause as much as I love sci fi... they show alot of shit on there.  But I stuck an extra show in there incase they screwed up another :-D

I really need to get to dragoncon.  It seems like a ton o fun.

    airlocks

I'm scared to watch the preview since I haven't seen the last couple of eps of season 3 yet, but that last video was frakking awesome. They should have added, "if I want to toss a baby out an airlock, I'll say so," though, cause that's the best line ever.

    All Three of Them

"Sci fi always f's up the good shows.. all 3 of them. "

That would be Farscape in those three, yes? Oh, Aeryn Sun, so many more stories to tell.

I have to think that the ratings system does a very bad job of tracking Sci Fi shows.

There seem to be a lot more of us out here than the networks realize.

    Laughtrack's picture

    Ratings

The networks are desperately trying to get the numbers for those shows that are recorded via DVR/PVR/TiVo to count as ratings. The ratings for shows such as BSG go up a lot when you do, in part because of the change from Friday to Sunday night for this particular show.

    So say we all ...

    CyberWoolf's picture

    Yup

As I mentioned in my reply to Vash that I just posted... they certainly did a good job of screwing us Scapers.  I mean really.. who cares about quality programming when you can just buy right to rerun old shows or make really bad movies??

    Laughtrack's picture

    Who's a pretty admiral then?

Please visit this site for some great promo shots from SciFi of the upcoming RAZOR movie featuring a very flirty Admiral Cain with a brunette version of 6 named Gina.

    FRAK YEAH!

I saw the promo for BSG season 4 and now I need to touch myself!

I love this show so much and its going to kill me when it ends - absolutely devastate and decimate me!  And where did you find that yummy picture of Starbuck in uniform?  I love it.  I can't wait for Thanksgiving to be over just so we can zoom to that Saturday and "Razor".  I don't see why we fans can't do a letter writing campaign - not email, the old fashioned way - to get Sci Fi to air all the episodes next year.  If all of us, including the sci-fi nerds, banned together I'm sure we can make Sci Fi do some serious rethinking of that craptastic idea.

    "WE'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!"

    I CAN'T FRAKKIN' WAIT!

    +1 million

That last promo was ridiculously awesome.

    OMG Battlestar

i don't have the words to express how much i love this show.

i can't wait.... please have a vblog about it.. pleeaassseeeeeeeeee.

More women on tv should be as complex and interesting as the women on this show.

    Vanessa V.'s picture

    BSG + Videoblog + Karman !

"i can't wait.... please have a vblog about it.."

I second that. Would love a videoblog on it, and Karman HAS to be in it. She cracks me up, plus, i'm sure she's "geeky" enough to not only love the women and the story, but to also enjoy those battleships!

    We'er going the wrong way!

AH! That second trailer with Starbuck screaming just pulls my heartstrings! Whenever Katee's characters start crying i just wanna crawl through the TV screen and hug them.

and in the first trailer is that starbuck yelling "she's a loose canon!" because pot....kettle

    Battlestar Webisodes Now Showing

Don't forget that they are playing 8 weekly Battlestar webisodes between now and when Razor airs in November. They are only a couple of minutes long each and the first one aired last week. They are available for viewing on the scifi.com website (only for US viewers) but you will also find them uploaded in the usual places. After the hiatus from hell they are a welcome BSG fix.

Thanks for the article and the videos. S4 is going to rock.

    i am so excited

that this show is coming back. damn near every woman on the show is gorgeous and captivating in some way, but i have to admit to having a special weakness for starbuck. sigh.

and this news about sci-fi splitting the season into two really doesn't surprise me?.why? because i'm a huge fan of farscape, and i was totally gutted by what they did with that show. withdrawing support for the show after committing to further seasons was so underhanded. bottom line: sci-fi stands out among the networks for really not giving a damn about the fans of their shows, and for being concerned with quantity over quality.

if sci-fi is splitting the season, i will grit my teeth and bear it, but i really wish the producers of galactica could've made this show somewhere else. if premium networks like hbo or showtime did space opera, could you imagine what the creators of the show would've been able to accomplish on a network like that?
