2008 calendars: Who do you want to help you pass the time?Believe it or not, 2007 is quickly winding down. The new year will be upon us before you know it. As a result, I am currently trying to decide which new calendar will adorn my sparsely decorated cubicle in the coming year. Really, the idea of shopping around for a new calendar is the fault of Sporty, Posh and the rest of the Spice Girls. They will not be adorning my walls, but news of their new 2008 calendar is what prompted my train of thought.
Sure, they're not horrible to look at or anything, but the two-month reunion tour will be more than enough Spice Girls for me. A full 12 months would just be overkill in my world. Paris Hilton has a 2008 calendar too, but any time spent with her would be too much for me. Instead, I'm thinking something more along the lines of Battlestar Galactica or The L Word. The only problem is, while my cubicle is sparsely decorated, I have room for only one 2008 calendar. And frankly, the options are almost endless. So, instead of shelling out my hard-earned cash for something published by someone else, I decided to create my own calendar for 2008. And what kind of blogger would I be if I didn't share my latest brainstorm with all of you? (A non-working one, that's what kind.) So, for your perusal and enjoyment, here is Siege's 2008 wall calendar. January — Melissa Etheridge
Her voice alone would keep me warm on a cold January night in the Midwest, and frankly, it has. Oh, to be the lucky farm girl who gets to curl up next to this every night. February — Drew Barrymore
Isn't she just the kind of girl you can see handing out little heart-shaped candies on Valentine's Day? I'm guessing they would be a bit more risqué than the ones I buy at the store every year. March — Angelina Jolie

Curling up on a nice soft blanket next to a comforting fire with a cup of hot chocolate is one of the best ways ever to spend a cold winter's day. Add a healthy dose of Union, and it becomes an official cure for cabin fever. December — Katee Sackhoff
Why does Katee Sackhoff adorn December? Because I think it would be a blast to ring in the New Year with the woman who brought us both Starbuck and Sarah Corvus. My calendar
What a fun game! I always used to get a calendar on the first night of Chanuka. When I was a teenager, my mother used to get me hot guy calendars to shore up her hope that I wanted them.
Here are my picks. Mostly, they don't have reasons because I don't have time to come up with them. The standard reason is "because she's pretty."
January - Jodie Foster (my gf's bday is in January and I'm certain this is who she'd like to look at all month).
February - Angela Bassett (with arms prominently featured)
March - Mariska Hargitay (with short hair)
April - Jordana Brewster (my birthday is in April -- as is Jordana Brewster's -- and she is what I want)
May - Lucy Liu
June - Cate Blanchett
July - Paget Brewster
August - Simone Lahbib and Mandana Jones (as Helen and Nikki)
September - Tina Fey
October - Emma Thompson (perhaps from Dead Again)
November - Kate Winslet
December - Erin Daniels
Mom rarely bought me calendars...
But when she did, she bought me Star Wars calendars. :-) Or she let me choose my own, which usually resulted in Charlie's Angels or Cagney & Lacey. My mother should not have been surprised when I announced I liked girls.

June - Lena Heady - mmmmmmmmmmmm....
July - Mandana Jones - I'm not the biggest fan of July, so she'd help get me through it.

September - Tori Amos - always makes me think of school ...
October - Lucy Lawless - typical, I know, but I wish I could pull Xena off for Halloween.
November - Famke Janssen - I am very grateful for Famke.
December - Rachel Griffiths - makes me feel merry.

Yeah Eliza Dushku all the way. I couldn't find a calendar that included the gorgeous Ms Dushku so I have pink on my wall. Infact I have a pink calendar and a pink poster.

Couples Calendar
I'll definitely be spending 2008 counting down 'til the end of the Bush presidency, so what better way to celebrate that than to have a calendar of my favorite lesbian couples (both real and fictional)...who in the new year, and hopefully under a newly elected Democratic President, will have the same rights extended to them as other couples.

I spent a wee bit of time
I spent a wee bit of time tracking down some photos I thought might work. Oh it was such a chore! Some aren't really safe for work and some are a little ginormous so click at your peril! Well, and enjoyment as well! I'm missing a few people, but lots are on Siege's calendar so it's ok. Carla Gugino and Eva Green would be nice though... I've left off Ewan McGregor and some other favourites since it was hard enough just picking women.
