Why Wanda Sykes rocks

We recently told you about Ellen DeGeneres' schooling of Oklahoma state representative Sally Kern on her show. But that wasn't the half of it. Ellen's guests that day included Wanda Sykes and Danny Noriega (American Idol), so it felt like the gayest show ever. (No, Wanda is not necessarily gay. Or at least not out. No comment.)

Anyway, here's a clip of Wanda on that episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She talks about everything from Sally Kern to Obama vs. Hillary to how you know you're getting old:

And if that's not enough to make your day, here's a snippet of one of Wanda's stand-up acts (thanks for the tip, Beth!) — the audio is out of sync, but it's still funny:

Funny, smart, cute ... just plain awesome. She knows how to take a joke just one step further, and that stuff cannot be taught.

BTW, if you're not watching The New Adventures of Old Christine, you're missing some quality time with Wanda! Here's that clip of her character, Barb, talking about a collegiate fling with Christine:

    Wanda Sykes rocks...

Because she always had.  The woman is honest, even in the face of the sad truth, and yet doesn't allow herself or others to take life too seriously.  Wanda Sykes is simply one of my favorites.

    Wanda

I love Wanda! She and Kathy Griffin are the two of the funniest comics out there right now. I really love how Wanda is able to distill a situation down into a hilarious sound bite brilliantly.

I LOVE Wanda! That "get hit

I LOVE Wanda! That "get hit on by men" comment as a negative certainly adds to the case of her being possible gay.

You should see the latest episode of "The New Adventures of Old Christine." Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Wanda go on a marijuana hunt. It was their best episode yet!

    Me Too

I also love Wanda Sykes and Kathy Griffin. They are two of the most outrageously funny women ever. I can think about Wanda and start laughing. She is just so sarcastic and spot on about most topics she chooses to discuss.

    AE recognizes Wanda's Comedy skillz

She's got her stand-up acts on dvd too so you can see all the Wanda you want.  she's great isn't she. It's nice to see AA peeps supportin' LGBTQI community. I just don't think enough famous people of color stand up for their POC LGBTQI/LGBTQI period at all.

    She's got my love !

    I didn't know...

That she had her stand up out on DVD! Well, I was going to the rental place today, I guess I know what I want to look for. Thanks for the info.

    A Dangerous Woman

Wanda's wit is so fresh and sharp that she oftens leaves me in tears, laughing so hard that I cry.  Some of her performances rock so hard that they should set of richter scales; she truly is a comedy genius.   Her (gay) friendliness and realistic takes on the state of things is so refreshing and inspiring.  Way to go Wanda!!!

I love it when any comedian

I love it when any comedian talks about the absurdity of being against gay marriages. For some reason it's even nicer when it's a guy talking about it, since a lot of guys are so afraid of being thought of as gay.

Here's Louis CK talking about gay marriage.

And on topic...Wanda Sykes' protest against the ban in alcohol after 9pm was great. XD

    I watched her comedy

I watched her comedy special a while back; "Sick and Tired", I think it was called. I thought it was okay (and in no way am I trying to take away from her awesomeness), but I think she's at her best when she's just...being. I like to see her on talk shows interviews because she just goes, line after line....quick, clever.

I haven't seen many episodes of Christine, but the few I have, Wanda was hilarious.

    I credit her hustle...

but she's always the same to me. "Curb...", the J.Lo-Jane Fonda movie, "Pootie Tang", "...Christine". In her defense, other stand-up comics are equally one-dimensional when they turn to acting.

I gotta say, it's hard not

I gotta say, it's hard not to love Wanda. Very funny.
