TV alerts: "Women's Murder Club," "The Search for the Next Elvira"

The new ABC crime procedural Women's Murder Club debuts tonight.

Everyone's talking about Angie Harmon, but I'm more interested in Laura Harris (Dead Like Me).

And I'm also more interested in Elvira, who graces (haunts? sorry) Fox Reality tomorrow night (at midnight, natch) in The Search for the Next Elvira.

Lest you think it won't be campy, here's some assurance: The judges will be in drag. I'm off to set my DVR!

    I agree..

Being a big 'Dead Like Me' fan, I will probably tune in just for "Daisy."

    They gave away the first

They gave away the first episode of "The Search for the Next Elvira" free on iTunes, and it was maybe the funniest reality show I've ever seen. Between the two drag queen judges and the frequent use of really bad sex jokes, campy might just be an understatement. It's actually made me wish that I got the Fox Reality Channel.

    check it out!

Nothing like drinking beer and solving a murder mystery with your girlfriends!

If the writing is good, this could work.

    Will Be Watching

I saw the teasers for Women's Murder Club and I must admit that it has peaked my interest.  I will surely be tuning in.  Here's hoping that it's worth it (but with Angie and Laura... hmmmm... I won't even begin... *smiles*)

I must say that this site is turning me into a TV watcher.  I'm not one for TV at all but I find that with all the write-ups, TV schedules, etc on here that I have been tuning in to a few more shows (ok, ok, I admit it, I've even drawn myself up a schedule - there... I've confessed).

My prior TV viewing consisted of CSI Miami nightly and Dexter on Sundays.  Let's just say it's not just those two anymore.  Hotel Babylon has become a must-watch for me as of lates.  Life seems to be taking root as well.

    Laura Harris just...swoon.

Laura Harris just...swoon. Not only is she beautiful but I think that she is a fantastic actress, as her religious arc on Dead Like Me showed. The Canadian one are always the cutest.

    Women's Murder Club

Bah, it's gonna take forever and three days to get here. I can't get interested... can't... can't....
Damn. Mind doesn't work over certain matter... =P

And I wish this dig-up-the-80's-and-chew-on-it's-carcass thing would get done with.
While some remakes and new takes on the good stuff of yore hit the spot without trashing the source... most times it turns out a caricature of a feint of the idea of the source.
Err.. yeah, Elvira's one of those classic good stuff that should be left very untouched in my book =)
But really, if it got to Elvira, what won't get caught?

    Women's Murder Club

I hadn't seen the pilot beforehand, so tonight was my first exposure to the show...a few moments notwithstanding, I was pleased. I'll definitely watch again. It helps that all the members of the club are cute.

    Smokin' Angie...

Women's Murder Club was actually pretty good, will definitely watch again next week. And Angie Harmon, she was totally smokin'. Apparently, she's one of those ladies who just keeps getting hotter as she gets older. My only complaint is that she's too thin; her body screams 'eating disorder', although it did send me a couple of other messages, as well...

    Marybeth Louise Hutchinson!

Call me a dork, but I squealed when I realised that was the girl who played Marybeth in The Faculty. She was sensational in that movie. My three all-time biggest girlcrushes are in that film as well- Famke Janssen, Jordana Brewster and Clea duVall- and yet Laura Harris totally held her own. I am really looking forward to seeing more of her work. :)

    Elvira RULES.

I don't care if it's just a short-lived reality show, I'm just BEYOND thrilled to have Elvira back on TV. I was fortunate enough to interview the Mistress of the Dark recently, and it was difficult to maintain control of myself. I'm a life-long horror movie fan I grew up watching Movie Macabre, and talking to her was a bit like talking to Jesus. :D When asked why she thinks she's such a favorite amongst the gay and lesbian crowd, she gave an interesting response:

"Gays really appreciate strong, powerful women who are both sexy and strong as opposed to some with no cajones. In a way, strong women are very androgynous, in a different way from David Bowie or someone. They’re androgynous in a way that they’re real sexy but they don’t cave in and become girly-girls. I think gays, whether they’re female or male, also share this sense of androgyny and that’s why they share this bond. It’s hard to explain and I’m on way too much caffeine here."

    Like I said, she rules.
