TV alerts: Big premiere night! "Private Practice," "Bionic Woman," "Life," "Dirty Sexy Money"I really hope you weren't planning to do anything but watch TV tonight. I'm cursing my Xanadu tickets. Nah, not really, but there's a lot to take in on the tube tonight! Let's get the obvious one out of the way: Kate Walsh has her own Private Practice starting tonight at 9/8c on ABC. I'm giving it one episode to impress me, and if it doesn't, I'm done, despite my abiding love for Audra McDonald.
Next, it's finally here: Bionic Woman premieres tonight at 9/8c on NBC.
After that, sit tight and watch the debut of Life (starring Sarah Shahi), also on NBC (10/9c).
I've already got the vapors. Last, we haven't talked much about Dirty Sexy Money (10/9c on ABC) here on AfterEllen.com — probably because there aren't many women on the show, though I'd say Jill Clayburgh carries the force of ten in her deceptively frail frame. The show stars Peter Krause as a lawyer who inherits his father's shady practice. More important, Time Out New York recently called it "the most deliciously lip-smacking soap since the early seasons of Nip/Tuck." Count me in. Oh, and Michelle Krusiec (Saving Face) is slated to appear in 5 episodes!

Bionic Woman!
I can't wait. Michelle Ryan! Woot!

dirty sexy money also stars
Tonight's TV
I wonder if Kate Walsh can get her job back at Seattle Grace...I saw the first episode of Private Practice a few days ago and I was not impressed.
The Nip/Tuck comparison is high praise, but the commercials for Dirty Sexy Money haven't intrigued me in the least bit. As tiff pointed out, the show stars transgender actress Candis Cayne--they've done a fair amount of coverage of it on After Elton.
Thankfully, I've seen the Bionic Woman pilot, so I won't feel too bad to skip it to watch the Democratic presidential debate on MSNBC. Hopefully, the debate will have bored me sufficiently in time for the premiere of Life.
Poor Kate
Audra McDonald
I know...
I know I've been saying I can't wait for Bionic Woman, and it is the truth. But I think I'll be DVRing it tonight and I'll watch it tomorrow. Halo 3 came out and I can't wait to play it on the big screen. That's right, I'm choosing Halo 3 over Bionic Woman, I just hope I won't be sleeping on the couch because of that decision.

hmmm
The vapors
LOL. I love the use of the phrase "the vapors". You've got to be from a Southern locale originally.
That picture of the Bionic Woman would give anyone the vapors, regardless of their preferences or hometown.
Okay...This sucks!
We have "Bionic Woman" with Katee Sackhoff - Thud! -(And, where's her photo in this blog???); "Criminal Minds" with AMC's Elizabeth Hendrickson; and "Gossip Girl" narrated by Kristen Bell ALL on at the SAME time...Life is hell!!!
Sigh. :(
And, Samaire Armstrong is starring in "Dirty, Sexy Money"...Whoa! Where's her picture? (No offense to Michelle Krusiec) She's sumthin' sumthin!
I like Private Practice so far...
Disagree with the naysayers about Private Practice. In fact I have done a 180 degrees turnaround from a comment I made in another thread.
I've just finished watching PP, and I have to say, I'm intrigued. It's quite different from GA. And Addison hasn't turned wimpy as I thought she might.
I'm giving it a chance. And I've always liked Amy Bremmenan(sp?). Really miss Judging Amy. Also Audra McDonald, who's replaced the previous actress, was rather impressive. She's definitely tough. I get the feeling the chemistry between her and Addison will be enjoyable to watch.
Finally, it feels more grown up than GA. And I fervently hope it won't have start having juvenile Mcnames that were so cringeworthy in GA!
And the debate begins...
The first epi of PP was definately better than the pilot but I felt the weakest link, after Dell because frankly he just should not be there with all his midwifery, was Addison which sucks. Now I'm just going to give Shonda the benefit of the doubt for about three epis and say that she's trying to get the veiwer onside with the other characters rather than let Kate carry the show all on her own, even though that's what we want.
I agree on Brenneman and McDonald. Violet, provided this stalking thing calms down, could be the most interesting character and though I didn't really feel the chemistry with McDonald and Walsh was any better than between Dungey and Walsh her scenes with Taye Diggs were bang on.
Honestly I like the characters but because they're all grown up their journey (to marriage and kids) doesn't interest me as much as the one on Grey's (to career and complicated relationships with married bosses). I think I'll just have to stick to the babies, or hope Callie moves to LA.
Oh and the episode names (In which we....) really really annoy me.
I wouldn't call it a 180 degree turnaround it's kind of looking coyly over its shoulder at us from the bar and maybe after another few weeks (/drinks) it'll spin round in its chair and shout "hey can I get you a drink".
I vote for Amy Brenneman's
I vote for Amy Brenneman's character to have a same-sex relationship. That'd keep me watching. =) I think it'd be believable. What was with the almost kiss thing with Addison?
The problem with this show is that it's just not believable that a random clinic would have dramatic health situations, like there were on Grey's, or ER, or whatever. If it's all about the relationship drama or something it might work, but that doesn't seem to be where they are going. And I am not going to be able to suspend disbelief to think that Addison is going to magically get that many freak cases.
I'd watch anyway
Audra McDonald
She's better when she sings too
