TV alert: "Real World: Sydney" features bisexual cast member

Tonight's premiere of The Real World: Sydney (10:00 p.m. on MTV) introduces us to Shauvon Torres. She's 24; she's a sex columnist; she's a student at Sacramento State; she's bisexual. She's probably going to keep things interesting.

And you've probably seen The Real World, so I'll spare you the summary. When it first hit the airwaves, I thought the show was the coolest thing ever, but I eventually came to see it as the most incontrovertible proof that growing up is the coolest thing ever. The so-called real world, as envisioned by the series, is often just a shallow, selfish display of drama and whining, with the requisite hot-tub kissing scene thrown in for good measure.

But, well, Shauvon seems kinda cool, as well as kinda hot. Apparently she just broke off an engagement to a man who asked her to choose between him and her career. Reminds me of the time my sister's boyfriend asked her to choose between him and softball. You can guess how that turned out.

Reviews of the Real World preview hint at Shauvon possibly hooking up with another cast member, Isaac (sigh), and various bloggers have highlighted her sense of humor. I always say funny is sexy.

Anyway, here's a picture of Shauvon and Trisha, another cast member:

Tune in tonight at 10:00 for more fun times down under. And read Best. Lesbian. Week. Ever. on Friday for the full scoop.

    Oi vey... does everybody

Oi vey... does everybody have their belly button pierced now?

Can we please have some normal, non-plastic people on The Real World again? Someone really ugly would do the trick *gets audition tape ready*. ;0)

More to the topic, she seems pretty interesting as long as she doesn't just make out with the girls in order to sleep with the guys. God help me, if they had a proper girl-on-girl relationship on The Real World I think I'd faint.

    We just got done watching

We just got done watching the Real world. The one that is Bi is totally neither one of our types. Their is one dark hair girl cant remember her that we both would consider if we where single. Not the girl that was fron Iran or wherever she said she was from. The other girl.

    kelly anne...omg, so far

the other dark-haired girl is kelly anne...omg, so far she is really annoying! but she's definitely a cutie!
aaand, "that girl from Iran of wherever" is from new york. she was born in new york...her parents are from iran. shauvon and parisa seem to be the only ones w/ a decent head on their shoulders!

favorite quote of the episode was when kelly anne told parisa that she's irritating her, and parisa replied by asking her if she needed some ointment for that irritation. HAHA...hilarious! here's a cute picture of them being buddy-buddy:

Sydney celebrates a LGBT Mardi Gras. Trisha and Cohutta opt out due to deep moral struggles; Cohutta "just wasn't brought up that way" and Trisha feels that God is trying to tell her something ("don't support the gays"). KellyAnne stays behind to provide moral support. Actually, I think she just didn't want to leave Cohutta alone with Trisha.

Parisa, Dunbar, Isaac, and Shauvon have the time of their lives. Even when Parisa admits that she could be stoned by the entire Muslim community. Shauvon was insulted by Trisha's views and I believe she was going to come out but she was interrupted.

Cohutta and Trisha proceed to argue and treat each other like crap per usual... 'cause that's what Jesus would do. KellyAnne regrets providing her moral support as she endures "hell".

I wouldn't recommend this show unless you like watching people treat each other like crap.

I'm going to hold my opinion because I know that the "characters" can be misrepresented.

Score one for the secularist; this show produced an own goal for Christians.

I hope I don't have to tell you that Christians aren't all this ignorant.

I felt like she was going to come out then as well!!

Both my roomies are Christians, and they were yelling at the tv about how ignorant Trisha was...all I could do was laugh at how silly she was acting! I loved it when she started typing Bible verses onto the computer.

That Mardi Gras party looked like SO MUCH FUN!
