Emmy nominees, possibly maybe

As you've probably heard, earlier this week TheEnvelope.com leaked a short list of Emmy nominations. The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has made no comment on the list's accuracy, choosing instead to remind academy members that they have signed a confidentiality agreement (the Academy will mess you up, Emmy voters!) and also reminding the public that nominees won't be officially announced until July 19.

I don't know why it matters, really — we're used to hanging chads and other forms of disenfranchisement in the U.S., so what's a little spilled ink among TV fans? Plus, who really tunes in for the nominee announcements anyway? (There's a motivating factor this year, though: Kyra Sedgwick will be one of the announcers. Won't it be weird if she has to announce herself?)

Anyway, whether these nominees are guesses or sure things, I'm happy to post some photos. The Emmy Awards ceremony airs Sept. 16 at 8/7c on Fox. (Visit TheEnvelope.com for the full, unverified short list.)

Man, I hate to beat a dead

Man, I hate to beat a dead horse, but... I can't believe that Battlestar Galactica doesn't even get a nod for drama series. Lost? Boston Legal? Bzuh?

(I love both those shoes, but best drama? Not so much.)

    Dexter

I love Dexter. Michael C. Hall is so good in the lead that I forgot all about David Fisher after the first few minutes. Plus, his girlfriend is Julie Benz, who played Darla in Buffy.

But I agree that Elizabeth Mitchell should be on the list. Why, though, didn't you post a picture of her? Or Tina Fey? Dang, Scribe, you're slipping.

    Joy

Lordy, I hope Jamie Pressley wins for Earl. IMO Joy is what makes that show watchable. Although, I have to say that Vanessa Williams is brilliant in Ugly Betty.

    For some reason..

For some reason I do not like Teri Hatcher at all. I really don't want her to win. I do want Kyra Sedgwick to win though since she is an amazing actress.

Democrats are sexy; no one ever says "that's a nice piece of elephant."

Good thing I'm not the only one...

that doesn't like Teri Hatcher! I don't like her character, even though she has done a pretty good job with the lines... but I still don't like her! I prefer Felicity Hoffmann any time!  And I also think Kyra Sedgwick should get some kind of award. I hope they show it here in Germany.

    Looking Forward

Wow, that picture of America Ferrera...wow...um, right click, save image as....wow.

The girls from Desperate Housewives always seem to knock each other out of Emmy contention. And man...why does the last season of Weeds seem so far away?

I feel bad for Kyra Sedgwick...I think she could have walked on water in "The Closer"'s last season and I'm not sure she'd have a chance against Edie Falco.

    At any rate, I'm excited.

    Can I get some Love?

I know this is preliminary, but what about Big Love?!!  I think a best supporting for Chloe Sevigny is absolutely necessary and will be a HUGE oversight if she's not included.

    DH is comedy?

Am I the only person perennially confused on how they decide which shows are comedies and which are dramas? There's comedy and drama in both Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy, but they are in different categories. I'd personally put them both in drama. I mean, dramas usually have a bit of comedy but less the other way around.
