Movie poster roundup: "Get Smart," "Mamma Mia!" and more

I'm once again brain-dead on a Monday, so I thought I'd post some pretty posters.

Get Smart (Anne Hathaway) — She gets smarter in every version of the poster.

The Forbidden Kingdom — A Jackie Chan movie, but I'll be focused on these two.

Jolene — No, it's not based on the Dolly Parton song, sadly. No matter how much the poster may seem to suggest that.

Mamma Mia! — Uh, Meryl's body has been folded into an untenable position, but I like the feather boa!

My Blueberry Nights (Norah Jones, Rachel Weisz, Natalie Portman) — Yes, please.

Penelope (Christina Ricci, Catherine O'Hara, Reese Witherspoon) — Yes, please, again!

Savage Grace (Julianne Moore) — Eeeek. I love Julianne, but I'm pretty sure this movie is going to creep me out.

Vivere — Whatever it is, I want to see it!

Now I'm not only brain-dead, but I'm also itching to see a movie. Gah. Mondays.

    Vivere! Go see it!

    This movie is amazing!!!

Pretty euro-style, I guess, but Angelina (dir) and Judith (dop) make such a good team... I love the kind of retro mood and the soundtrack and besides it's got beloved Hannelore Elsner... sigh...

    Vivere

Actually I’m wondering, that afterellen hasn’t stumbled over this film before. It’s the newest film of Angelina Maccarone, best known for Unveiled and ‘Kommt Mausi raus?’. Hannelore Elsner, the woman at the right, meets Francesca, the older one of two sisters, when she is on her way to Amsterdam to find her younger sister. Elsners character is a lesbian and Franscesca falls in love with her.

    oh!

I don't think any of us knew that. Thanks for the tip! Funny how you can sense "gay content" from a poster. ;)

    What are these movies

What are these movies about? Why haven't I heard of any of them (except for Mamma Mia)? Okay, I'll check the links. Vivere looks very interesting.

    Very entertaining post.

    can't wait for penelope

I've seen the trailer for penelope (on AE??) and I can't wait to see this movie!! I hope it's as good as I expect it to be. I totally heart julianne moore - I love her red hair!!! but I'm not really sure about the movie... I don't like crepy movies.

I haven't heard a single thing about vivere nor have I seen a trailer, which is kinda strange, since it's a german movie. I do know that Hannelore Elsner is a damn good actress, I don't know the other two actresses. the movie opened in october in germany, but it didn't seem to have made it to Austria, which surprises me a lot!! too bad, I might have watched it, the trailer seems promising.... anyways, thanks for those posters, even though this term is officially already over and I should be on holiday, I have to study for 6 exams, so I can use some pretty pictures of pretty ladies ;-)

    Vivere

    Vivere is a wonderful movie:

    http://www.vivere-themovie.com/

An (almost) all women production, script, director, cinematography,

main characters. And with Hannelore Elsner, a legend in German cinema.

I loved this movie when I watched it last month. A road movie, a lesbian love story, a film noir ... I am not sure, though, if it will fit in the different taste of US culture.

Interesting is the production background, it took 4 years to get sponsors.

    I think my heart stopped

I think my heart stopped for a few seconds when I saw the 'Assassin' poster for The Forbidden Kingdom.

    Hellooo 99!

Although not a huge fan of Get Smart, I was always a little smitten with Agent 99...and Anne as 99 is fine by me :D

Tis a pity the poster isn't for a new 007esque action venture starring Hathaway instead of a comedy with her playing the smart side-kick.

    Fanks SG!

    agent 99

if anne is agent 99 why is "agent 86" on the poster...that is maxwell smart???  did i miss something...
    Cyber Diva's picture

    Agente 86

Because that's the name of the movie, in portuguese, and this poster is a portuguese or brazilian version, probably.

If I'm not mistaken, Agent 86 refers to Maxwell Smart, the main character (just "imdbed" it, lol)

I am madly in love with Anne

I am madly in love with Anne Hathaway's outfit in the Get Smart poster. Hot.

    Julianne Moore is Awesome...

... in Savage Grace! This is definitely one of the best performances in her career.

"I'm expecting Moore's performance as Barbara Daly, whose husband Brooks Baekeland was heir to the Bakelite plastics fortune, to be one of the most talked about this awards season."
    --Martin Grove, The Hollywood Reporter

Anyone who loves Julianne Moore should not miss this amazing film (this is, however, not for the faint-hearted, and probably not the best date movie) that is playing at IFC Center in NYC right now and will open across the country in the summer.
