Leslie Bibb may soon be Popular at the box office

Leslie Bibb is finally getting a starring role in a film: The Bachelorette Party, a "romantic comedy in the vein of Wedding Crashers."

I haven't seen Wedding Crashers, so I don't really know whether to look forward to this or not. But I have a fondness for Bibb, simply because I love Popular.

And why, you might ask, do I love Popular? Why, I'll happily tell you. (Sarah has already given you reasons to love it, if you need more.)

5. A queer sensibility. The show was always campy and sometimes just plain gay. And if there had been a third season, Sam would have come out. So say the producers. Damn it!

4. Mary Cherry (Leslie Grossman) and Nicole Julian (Tammy Lynn Michaels). Brooke's evil henchmen were as funny as they were vengeful. And everyone felt sorry for Nicole by the end, which was no small feat on Tammy Lynn's part. Her acting skills are way underrated.

3. The supporting cast and guest stars. Miss Glass (Diane Delano) was so freaky and hilarious. And just when you thought the show couldn't get crazier, Cherry Cherry (Delta Burke) would swoop in and chew up all the scenery. Mind-blowing.

2. Harrison John (Christopher Gorham). Did he ever really decide between Brooke and Sam? And he had a lesbian mom. I still have a little crush on Gorham — he was in Out of Practice and now plays Henry on Ugly Betty. So cute.

1. Brooke McQueen (Leslie Bibb) and Sam McPherson (Carly Pope). They were just plain great together. Now all I have is fan fic and fan videos. It's OK: They weren't really sisters!

Mostly I just wish I'd had a high school experience that was even a little bit like the show. The first two seasons of Popular are on DVD. Buy them. Watch them. Live them. Be a Glamazon!

    Right when...

Right when the story lines were getting good and someone was going to be a lesbian they canceled the show. It broke my 15 year old heart. -Rachel

    Carly Pope...

was basically the only reason to watch...I had no idea they (Sam and Brook) would be gay, that didn't cross my mind. I guess now years later Carly is a sultry goddess on Dirt FX playing a lesbian... and Leslie Bibb made a big movie, the Legend of Ricky Bobby...but I would root for a Popular reunion any day...

I loved Popular, it was basically an exaggerated version of my high school.

btw that Graham guy did Jake 2.0 too...it was lame. and oh Sara La Rue had a good show...this was like the alternative WB cast to Mickey Mouse club...how funny...good times...

    I forgot....

Wow, I completely forgot about this show, it was so short lived but I used to absolutely LOVE it! Mary Cherry was just too funny and Sam was so unintentionally seductive...the nostalgia from watching the YouTube clip is making me want to run out and buy the DVDs right now.  I really think we need to start seeing A LOT more of that Carly Pope and soon!

    I didn't realize how many

I didn't realize how many gay friendly shows Gorham had appeared on.  Ugly Betty returns in 2 weeks with a new episode :)

    Popular!

When I saw the popular picture I got so happy and then sad cause it got cancelled way to early.  Good thing I have both seasons on dvd, otherwise I'd go mental.  The fanfiction helps alot too.  Two good sites for Popular fanfiction are

    Carly Pope

What can I say? She's the main reason I kept on watching Popular. And now she's one of the reason why I started watching Dirt. She's so seductive. I don't even think that she knows the power of her beauty.

I didn't have a clue about Sam being on the fence. I would gladly welcome a 3rd season, only to see her drop into the queer side. :-D

I want more and more and more Carly Pope on screen.

    *sigh* I loved popular, too . . .

And goshdarnit, I wish it wasn't cancelled. It was one of the shows I could watch that always made me laugh. *sigh* I'm happy that the actors from popular have moved on and done interesting things with their careers.

    Delta Love

Nobody chews up scenery the way that Delta Burke can! But then, when you've got a character named Cherry Cherry, scene chewing is a prerequisite.
