Latifah, Pfeiffer and Janney (oh my) in the new Hairspray trailerI've been looking forward to the new Hairspray movie since the moment I heard it was being made.
And judging by this new trailer, I don't think I'm going to be disappointed: (iFilm)
Can you believe how weird John Travolta looks in drag? And then there's Michelle Pfeiffer, chewing up the scenery in very fine style. And let's not forget Queen Latifah!
Plus, I didn't even know Allison Janney was in this movie — talk about a bonus. You can't stop the beat, and you can't stop me from buying a ticket. Hairspray hits theaters in July. Submitted by on April 19, 2007 - 2:43pm. |

Yay!
I'm so looking forward to this movie. It's nice when a large cast of well known actors actually manage to pull off a good movie. Personally I'm looking forward to seeing Brittany Snow play bad, cause I've been a fan ever since those American Dreams days. But can I really list everyone who I'm looking forward to seeing? I don't think I have the time to do that.
Brittany Snow
You've never seen Brittany Snow play bad? You must have missed her on Nip/Tuck two seasons ago where she played the white supremist girlfriend of the son. That's as bad as it gets.
I stand corrected
My bad, however, I don't watch Nip/Tuck and I totally forgot that she had tried to bleach her skin
I am going to be waiting on
I am going to be waiting on that line the day it comes out. I am so excited for it.
John...
Am I the only one not looking forward to this?
loyal to the original
with you 100% on that,

Who Knew?
Than John Travolta could be sexy-ugly! I want Queen Latifah & Alison Janney to parody The Hours in this movie.
At any rate, looks fantastic, lively, colourful, etc, etc. And Im sure John accidentally wore the dress on-set and the idea was added to the script last minute because it looked fantastic.
Wait! Is Christopher Walken like... John's husband? Because Queen or not, I'd rather not pay money to see them share anything on-screen. For the simple fact of EW.
ANOTHER REMAKE????
No disrespect, and I know this is the MUSICAL version of the film, but I don't see the value added in making a musical remake of a film that is already a cult classic. I wonder what John Waters (the creator of the story) feels about this?? I've seen the show on Broadway.....maybe this is the way to get the "show" to a mass audience. Anyway, I think it's overkill.
Wait. What? What is John
Wait. What? What is John Waters trying to do here? I know he technically doesn’t have anything to do with this film, but he must have had to sell the rights (again?), or sign off, or something. Before his new Court TV show you couldn’t seem to read any interview without him mentioning how irony has killed his trash celebration genre. What is this? Is it retaliation (you know he knew it would be bad)? Is it capitulation? At least Divine isn’t around to see any of this. That’s it, rant over; I’ll watch Female Trouble tonight and feel much better.
Oh, and by the way, if they’re remaking this, they’re going to remake The Princess Bride. Mark my words.
whoohoo!
ohmigod!
good lord - i have so much to say about this strand of chitchat
for a start not a single person seems to have picked up on scribegrrrl's recognition that alison janney is in this movie - that amazing woman has long resided in my top 10 and long may that last! i LOVE her. moving on slightly i cannot match my love of AJ to the idea of remaking this movie - i heard about it a while back, was suitably horrified, was then more horrified when i heard JT was invovled and now have to suffer people saying it is a good movie!? i don't believe anyone that says so but i will check it out for myself to make sure. and piato - if they do remake princess bride i think my siste may die off - in her head that movie is perfection - if they taint it i fear she will be unable to draw breath...

YAY!
I was a bit worried when I heard they were redoing this one, but after watching that trailer I'm convinced they've been faithful to the original story. Hell, it might even be better!!!
I just wish I could see it in a sing-a-long theater... I think it's going to be hard not to sing and dance the entire length of the movie.

mmm me too
Looks pretty identical to the original, but with no Divine, who was pretty much joint lead with Ricki Lake. Travolta in a fat suit looks utterly charmless - least Divine was real.
triple yay
