"Hex" is back on BBCA

I can't believe I forgot to blog about this on Friday: The second season of Hex premiered on BBC America over the weekend. Its regular time slot is Saturdays at 9:00 p.m. ET (with a mini-marathon this coming Saturday to catch you up on what you may have missed).

Hex is about a group of friends at a British boarding school who try to unravel an ancient curse and stave off Armageddon. Or something like that. The battle-of-good-and-evil stuff always seemed sort of secondary to me — I was much more interested in the adventures of cute lesbian ghost Thelma (Jemima Rooper).

The show is like a mashup of a Nine Inch Nails video and a teen sex comedy. It's uneven, but it has its moments. (OK, fine, I recapped the second season, so I'm probably just trying to convince myself that that wasn't a total waste of time.)

Also, as of tomorrow, June 5, the first season of Hex is finally available on region 1 DVD (anybody need a slightly used region 2 copy?!).

    Didn't Get It...

I remember watching this when it first came onto Foxtel - I think I managed to endure two, perhaps even threee episodes. Really, the lesbian ghost, although cute, just wasn't worth it. It was like dragging nails across a chalk board. When it was released on DVD, AGES ago in Australia, I was tempted to buy it, just in case I changed my mind. But that's not happened yet.

To those who enjoy it, hope you can get a copy of the DVD, and enjoy the repeats!

Dude, I've seen a couple of

Dude, I've seen a couple of episodes on the Space channel and I had no idea she was a ghost.  Is the blond girl the only one who can see her or are ghosts just kinda commonplace?

    Jemima Rooper

i have that question in mind for a long time : is jemima gay ? cause she plays a lesbian in "hex", "sugar rush" and "the black dahlia"... or may be for directors "once a lesbian, always a lesbian" (Henry in TLW S4...) i'm happy because Jemima plays well lesbians (hot kiss to kim in sugar rush !) but too sad for her if she's not !!!....

    Jemima is

Jemima is straight but yes she does play gay very well. And she has said that Thelma has been her favorite character to play.

Two Years ago I loved it

I really liked Hex, I thought the first season was brilliant, and by the first season I mean the real first season not the season and a half which BBCA labelled the first. I loved the pace and the familiar humour (to me) being used in a fantasy show, I guess that’s probably also the reason a lot of people don’t like it. The second half of the second series (which I assume is what is the American second season is) is really quite bad unfortunately.

I heard that they edited the show a lot to air it in the US, I wonder how much that affected the show. Anyone seen both the US and UK edits?

Jemima isn’t gay, her roles in ‘Sugar Rush’ and ‘The Black Dahlia’ are really quite small so technically she has done only one significant gay role. Anyway ‘Sugar Rush’ was produced by the same people as ‘Hex’ so that’s probably the reason she was in the show in the first place and played a lesbian in it.

    how were the episodes

how were the episodes different in the uk?

i, too, noticed a few cross overs from hex and sugar rush. the lady who plays jo on hex was anna on sugar rush.

that production company should make a new all-star series with all the lead actresses from both shows!

    Jemima Rooper is so hot.

Gay or straight, her Thelma is someone I wish I knew (and with whom I could make out . . . and other things). I really really wanted her to play Tonks in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (my favorite character, and a perfect fit), but it was not to be. I loved Hex just from reading Scribegrrrl's recaps, and didn't even get to see it until the entire series was over. Yeah.

    Jemina Rooper = Yum!

Jemina is very hot, i remember when she was a bit younger and played Nikki in 'As If' and she was a man eater, so she doesnt always play gay roles, wish she was really gay

    Jemima is gorgeous!

it's so hard to pay attention to the plot of the show when she's on the screen but i manage... it really is a great show!
