Ellen Page plays a "primo lesbian" on SNLSo, did you see Ellen Page on Saturday Night Live?
More important, did you see her in that last skit? Page played a young woman named Marty whose life was forever changed by a Melissa Etheridge concert. Here it is: Yes, you heard that right: She did say, "Why does everything have to have a frickin' label? Why can't I just hug a woman with my legs in friendship?" Ha ha!
Around the interweb, the sketch is being seen as a response to all the gay rumors about Page. But whether or not it was really about Ellen herself, it was refreshing to see such a positive gay-themed skit on SNL. Its ultimate message seemed to be, "It's OK to be gay." And that's partly because Page really committed to it: She was goofy and hyper and not a bit shy about playing a gay character. It was funny, but not in the way gay things are usually funny on SNL — which is in a mocking, ridiculing, as-if-we-could-ever-be-gay way. It almost sounded sincere (hilariously sincere) when she said, "I just felt like I was an oil lamp that's never been lit. And now I'm finally burning bright with sisterfire."
I think we should adopt "And I was like, aaahhhhhhh!" as a catchphrase for lesbians everywhere. Other than that, though, Page was kind of an average host, at best. I don't think sketch comedy is really her thing. But I did enjoy her performance in the digital short, earlier in the episode: Isn't she adorable in her pajama pants and T-shirt? And I love her expression when she "scares" the ghost:
Her monologue was pretty funny too: Ellen Page, whether you're really gay, or you just like to hug women with your legs in friendship — or just play characters of all stripes — you're the best.

Really? Tina Fey doesn't ping? My gaydar does... and with Ellen, big time! I knew there was something about her ever since I saw Juno.
I hope she is, because Ellen Page is awesome!
Interweb

I think she looks like half of the 21 year olds around Halifax :)
She's come a long way from Trailer Park Boys!

Her lesbian publicist Kelly Bush! Now what wouldn't I give to eavesdrop on their conversation last night :)

ELLEN MARRY ME!!!
This girl.. she's just golden!!
I saw Hard Candy the other day and it was so intense i almost stopped.. (no, no i didn't.. my gaydar went off like crazy though..)
what an amazing actress!!!! where has she been hiding all these years?
WE LOVE YOU ELLEN!!!!!! :]
No Lindsay Lohan... Thank Goodness!!
What impresses me most with Ellen Page is she seems to have her sh!t together. Granted, I'm basing this opinion from seeing her on SNL and from interviews I have seen of her. I don't care what her sexuality is - she is cute, talented and comes off as a "regular jane", not some spoiled Hollywood brat.
As for her performance on SNL, yes, she flubbed a few lines. But unlike most other guests, she didn't stand there reading directly from the cue cards. That is the most annoying part of the show for me. I know they rely a lot on the cards because it is a tremendous amount of stuff to memorize in a 6 day period. Ellen took the path of trying to be more authentic even if it meant missing a line or two. This speaks volumes to her confidence and character, IMHO.
Lastly, I would like to vote her as number 1 for the afterellen lesbian hot list!!!
Ellen Page ROCKS!!!
Ellen Page
Rocked Saturday Night Live like nothing else!
Hell to the shizzle!
If she was gay I'd go gay for her, oh wait, I already sorta am. If she comes out.. I will.
hmm.. Ok, I loved all of those vids especially the intro one.
Ellen, keep on rockin'
Less than three
Great response! Only feasible by Ms. Page :D

SNL
You're trying to bring logic to the robot bear sketch?!
LOL Tina Fey toddling...I can totally see it. And yeah, the Obama thing was weird...I bet Darrell Hammond could play him better, that man is king of all impressions on the show right now, lol
She looked so adorable
In every scene she was in, I love her whole punk-rock girl look. And those pyjama pants were even cuter! The last skit was hilarious, that skit with Virginica was such a rip-off, exactly the same as the one with Scarlett Johansson.
Anywho Ellen Page is my new celeb-crush fo' sho, I don't care if she's gay or not cause she is hot!
I'm not colorblind, I know the world is black & white
sami
Omg Ellen is so freaking hot!!!!!!!!!!!! damn she is just so cute and awesome, i think im a little obsessed. ha ha
references
couldn't they have used more current references?
Melissa Etheridge and Indigo Girls were the 90's, and not as relevant as they used to be. She should've said she went to a Tegan and Sara concert, it's more fitting for her age.
I didn't find the first clip
EP
So cute!
So sad she's dropping out of
A new EP?
the other clip
99% sure she's not
now I'm almost sure she´s not gay... I found this interview, and at 1:50 she mentions her "boyfrend" well her ex actually, but still... sad for some of us

ya but
Ellen Page- alternate SNL skit?
Is it just me, or did anyone catch the rerun of the Ellen Page episode of SNL?
I swear that the Marty Goes to Mellissa Etheridge concert sketch was different from the one they aired on the first week...
on the second one its mostly the same, only the ending was less weird, but different.
the sketch changes where he goes
"i'll go gay too so that we can still live together"
then instead of hugging she says
"really?"
"yeah, its a nice apartment and they have a laundry room here."
(laughs, falls on couch)
"you don't have to go gay you know, we can still live together."
"i know, but I will!"
(hug)
and that was about 90% accurate of what they said. no joke! The sketch improved with the alternate ending, but whats weird now is why'd they change it?
Did anyone else see last Saturday's show?

So,. basically, Ellen Page is Cute, Smart, Funny, Talented....
...and an all-around Excellent Human Being.
Who she sleeps with is between her and her partner, whatever gender that lucky person happens to be.
Whether (or whenever) she 'Comes Out' as Gay, Bi, or Straight is also up to her, and no-one else!
I've speculated and been as silly as anyone else, but iit's HER Life, and her choice how much of her private life she wants to share with us - She doesn't owe us anything except respect as fellow human beings. From everything I've ever seen, she's respectful of other peoples' lifestyles, other than abuse, and that's all we can or should ask.
I think she's GREAT, all around, and I'll respect and admire her, Gay, Bi, or Straight, In or Out - It's her life, and I'm just happy that she's a working and respected actress, who seems happy and grounded.
My 2 cents, Ali (Just_Alice)
