"Burn Notice" premieres tonight

Burn Notice starts tonight on USA at 10/9c. Sharon Gless is in it, and that's enough to make me give it a try. Actually, it sounds watchable even without that:

"Burn Notice is what happens when a producer like Matt Nix, a newcomer to television, gets a show on the air. Nix, the show's creator and co-executive producer, is only a step or two removed from being a regular old viewer, so he remembers that a television thriller should be lively and smart with a sense of humor as well as sizzle and danger. Burn Notice hits all those notes in a sleek and, yes, fun premiere that's set to run commercial free." (Seattle Post-Intelligencer)

Along with Gless, the series features Bruce Campbell (Xena: Warrior Princess; Army of Darkness; Ellen) and Gabrielle Anwar (The Tudors). You know, The Tudors, aka that show they advertised the hell out of during the last season of The L Word. And we all tuned in and became big fans, right? Uh, yeah.

The show's title refers to what happens when a spy gets fired: Main character Michael Westen's (Jeffrey Donovan) life goes up in smoke, and he has no idea why he has suddenly lost his money, his credit, his contacts and his car. Gless plays his overbearing (a stretch!) mother.

I'll say this much: I barely recognized Bruce Campbell in the interview on the USA site. Whoa, Ellen's boss at the bookstore — what happened?!

    Jeffrey Donovan was beyond

Jeffrey Donovan was beyond awesome in the criminally underwatched American version of Touching Evil, so I hope USA treats him better this time around.  Add Bruce and Sharon (although:"overbearing mother"? Really?) and I'm so in.

    50/50...

I was trying to decide whether to watch or not. The premise sounded fun, but once I found out Miss Anwar and "The Bruce" were in it I set my DVR for it.

brisco county, jr.!  i loved that show!  especially the funky, cranky black-dude cowboy sidekick who was reminiscent of cowboy kurt played by laurence fishburne in pee wee's playhouse.

    It's like MacGyver meets

It's like MacGyver meets Veronica Mars meets Painkiller Jane's voice-over!

I enjoyed it though! But here's hoping they cut down the voice-overs with about 50%!
