"Battlestar Galactica" TV alert and news

Are you looking forward to the return of Battlestar Galactica? If so, you might want to set your DVR for The Late Show With David Letterman tonight. Ten BSG stars will read the Top Ten list. Yes, that includes Katee Sackhoff, Mary McDonnell, Grace Park, Tricia Helfer and Lucy Lawless.

And if that's not enough to tide you over, there are BSG articles everywhere this week:

1. The Los Angeles Times previews the season in an article called "Battlestar Galactica gears up for a fight to the finish." It includes this choice quote:

"I think there will be closure for Starbuck," Sackhoff said. "But I can't see her happy, in love and with babies. She's the happiest when she's alone, feeling pain and stress. She's tremendously flawed, but out of everyone she's the most human."

2. The Chicago Tribune blog The Watcher has a season preview too, and notes that Joss Whedon wanted to direct a BSG episode but is too busy with Welcome to the Dollhouse. Bummer.

3. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Sci Fi Channel has greenlit a two-hour BSG prequel called Caprica. The prequel is set 50 years before the current season and starts production this spring. The Reporter also notes that the new season of BSG will debut online (presumably on SciFi.com) before it airs on TV.

4. For gay geeks, here's a list of actors who have appeared on both Battlestar Galactica and The L Word. Who knew?

5. And don't forget, you can catch up on BSG episodes at SciFi.com, and watch a recap that's cleverly titled "What the Frak Is Going On?"

Season 4 of Battlestar Galactica begins at 10 p.m. on April 4. Two half-hour specials will air March 28.

Yay! I can't wait for the new season to begin. This show is so amazing that my fiance, who hates all things sci-fi, is addicted. We're rewatching the seasons via netflix and she said last night: "Babe what the frak?! Did we not get any bsg in the mail today?!?"

spoken like a true fan. lol. Thanks for the update. Caprica sounds cool, but I'm not sure how interested I am if there is no Starbuck. On another note, I think that it is really cool how the writers are def ending the show after this season. . . they've said how there will be an end and no hope for more movies etc. in terms of a continuation. That's pretty cool, cause it ensures that bsg will never get crazy bold and the beautiful in space etc.

    thanks again!!!

    BSG

I'm a fan of BSG, not as obsessive as my BtVS fandom, but close. Too bad Whedon couldn't have wedged this into his schedule because he's sooooo good with weird/funny, problematic women 'heroes', impending doom, meandering mythologies, and nonhumans displaying (at times) more humanity than the actual humans.

    BSG

I am trying to catch up on my lacking BSG viewage.  I am Netflixing it and going a bit stir crazy.  I'm glad to read that they are viewable online.  I am only on the last disc of Season One.  I put off seeing Razor until I caught up on all the epi's.

    Starbuck makes me swoon.

    check out Encyclopedia Galactica

at Joe R's Low Resolution blog for yet another BSG pre season 4 primer.

from number 7 on the list:

"Roslin's Having Dreams Again (Space Chemo Is Trippy, Man): Like the last time she was sick, Laura's treatment is giving her visions. This time, they're about a golden temple of some sort, and she, Sharon, and Six are all desperately seeking Hera so that they may protect her. I'm already kind of pre-disposed towards non-traditional families, but seriously, with those three as your moms, nobody would ever fuck with you. Not ever. "

    April 4th, come on down!

    Psyched

I'm really excited about the final season of BSG, and glad to see that I can rely on AE to keep me posted on what's happening in the BSG world, as we approach the zero hr for the final season's premiere.  I'm totally psyched to see what imaginative places BSG will take us, and I'm encouraging every scifi freak I know (who has to this point not watched BSG), to join in on the last season.  Of course, this gives me the opportunity to bring them up to date, watch previous eps with 'em,  and talk excitedly about a show I thoroughly enjoy.

The list of crossovers from the L Word and BSG is so cool.  I had noticed a handful of them beforehand but had no idea there were so many.  Thanks for the very nice article and the interesting links.

    Too bad

The only thing that could make BSG even better than it already is, is if Joss Whedon was involved in it.

    Oh man!!!!!

    I cannot wait.

Maybe the stars will properly align and Joss can direct an episode after all. That would just beat all.

    Aw, I've been wanting to

Aw, I've been wanting to watch this show forever, but I just don't get around to it. It doesn't air here, I'm too broke for dvds and I don't have time to watch it online (too busy watching vlogs, I guess). But I will, one day. I know I won't be able to resist Katee Sackhoff forever. That last pic? Damn.

Oh, and I think you're confusing Joss' new show with the movie. Just Dollhouse ;-) (sorry, just being way too obsessed with it already. I can't help it, because... Eliza.)
