Look at all the AfterEllen.com hotties among the nominees! Also, sometimes the world makes sense: no nod for Ellen Pompeo but a nod for Holland Taylor. That's correct.

The biggest surprise this year is that On the Lot actually got a nomination, for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music. I know I go around singing it all day long.

Some other highlights: Wanda Sykes: Sick and Tired was nominated for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special, and Tina Fey picked up a nom for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (for 30 Rock, to go with her Lead Actress nomination).

    As a big Mariska fan,

I am absolutely pleased she is once again recognized for the wonderful work she is doing in SVU. I just wish Meloni would get the same recognition as well. This year, to be frank, he is more deserving than her. She was away for about a third of the season.

I am also grateful for Queen Latifah, Helen Mirren and the ladies from Grey's (sans Ellen Pompeo. maybe she could use that night off for, say, an acting class).

Highly dissapointed about Dexter being snubbed like this. INO, best new drama of the year (and a small tip: the two first eps from season two are already on the net).

And I am puzzled about the multi nominations for Boston Legal, another cookie cutter court drama from David E Kelly, the man who lacks any kind of creative courage.

And note the actress in guest role:

Guest Actress in a Drama Series:
    Kate Burton (Grey’s Anatomy)
    Elizabeth Reaser (Grey’s Anatomy)
Marcia Gay Harden (Law & Order: SVU)
Leslie Caron (Law & Order: SVU)
    Jean Smart (24)

All Such superb choices, but I vote for Kate Burton for an electrifying performance as Meredith's dearly departed mother (in more than one sense).

    Okay, where the frak

Okay, where the frak is Mary McDonnell? Again? That woman gives acting lessons every week. Whoever does the nominating needs to take off their scifi blinders.

Also, Scribegrrrl seems to have left out the complete title of the first category; "Outstanding Drama Series Not Named Battlestar Galactica". It's kind of like the special olympics really.

I prefer this picture of Tina Fey.

    In my fantasy

Immediately following the flash of the bulb, Allison Janney grabbed Holland Taylor and planted one on her.

Come on, it does seem possible, the way AJ is mentally making out with her in that pic!??! Good god, that is an awesome picture!! Nice find, scribe.

    No Kidding

I think that picture will make everyone happy for the rest of their life.  Or it should.

    I guess the Sopranos will

I guess the Sopranos will win big just because they are done with the series.  Maybe the end will probably be used as a parody over and over again at the show.  I hope I can see the ceremony live here in Germany like last year.  And great picture of Holland Taylor! She looks so nice!  I heard she is "one of us"!

What a great list of nominees!!

I love the nominees! Really looking forward to this year. I almost have a favourite in every catagory. Love that Sally Field is nominated! Always been a fan of hers, and love Brothers & Sisters. While watching it, I was thinking: damn, she's good!:D

    Supporting actress/ Guest Actress nominations

While I'm pretty pleased with the lead category nominees, the categories for Supporting Actresses and Guest Actresses in all genres are just phenomenal. With one exception in the Drama category, I couldn't be more pleased; it is almost as though I was allowed to handpick them myself.  What an amazing array of talent selected for nominations this year.

I'm not sure I could make a decision in a couple of those categories -- I might have to resort to drawing a name out of a hat.

    I'm so happy...

That Lorraine Bracco was nominated for "The Sopranos!" I've been shamelessly in love with Dr. Melfi since season one. She and her legs both deserve an award.

Every time I look at Allison Janney, I smile

And don't even get me started on how kick-ass Holland Taylor is. And how kick-ass you are, scribe, for finding that photo. Whee!

On topic, I was really hoping for a nomination for Connie Britton. She is acting her tail off in "Friday Night Lights." But I can't complain about any Emmys that includes nominations for Tina Fey and Jenna Fischer. Love them both.

I guess I'm alone in this...

But I was really hoping for a nod for Lauren Graham :(

All the other ladies are very much deserved (and yay! that Ellen Pompeo didn't get nominated!)

    gali's picture

    No, you're not alone! I'm

No, you're not alone! I'm with you...scratch Julia Louis -Dreyfus off the list and put Lauren Graham on it I'd say!

Where the Effing H is FNL?

I guess I knew it was coming, but I'm still steamed that Friday Night Lights got nothing. No best drama, no Kyle Chandler, no Connie Britton. Even the kid who plays Matt Saracen was great. In my poinion, it's the best show on TV right now, even considering the Sopranos. I haven't seen The Wire, and everyone says that is great. But Friday Night Lights is amazing because it feels so real, but still dramatic and joyful all at once. I don't know how to explain it, but the show rules!

Add me to the rolls of the Lauren Graham Appreciation Society. I can't believe she's never even gotten a nod for Gilmore Girls.

Screw the Emmys... screw 'em right into the ground.

    wickedgrrl's picture

    Me too.

Add me to the Lauren Graham appreciation society.

Also, I love that MaryLouise Parker is doing so well.  I love her.
