My life is complete.
Haha, I was just thinking
Haha, I was just thinking the same thing. I wonder if Portia watches South of Nowhere?

Thank you!

Any way we can see or read transcripts of Ellen's speech. Im so glad she won an award. God knows she's been an inspiration to me!

Okay, Ellen and Portia with
Okay, Ellen and Portia with Maeve and Gabby is just weird. Like some fan-photoshopped-pic, it's two worlds colliding. But I love it, they all looked great. As did Michelle and Jodie (duh). And I love Ellen's Mom, she's friggin cute. The pic with her and Portia is adorable.
I wonder what the hell Carmen Electra was doing there, though. She looks a bit out of place, between all those lesbians/coolest-straight-chicks-ever.
Anyway, thanks for sharing these pics with us!
Project great..
Wonderful to be privvy to such great photos. That's the great part of AE...we feel like we are there with you.
Got to meet 'Betty' ages ago before Ellen's sitcom. What a wonderful woman! No wonder Ellen is as great as she is!
Maeve and Gabby...
Weird in a good way!
I agree that seeing a picture of Ellen and Portia with Maeve and Gabby is a little weird, but in a good way! It's like they're all connected somehow :P It's really kind of magical :D
Great pics! Thanks, Sarah :D

Trevor Project Cracked Xmas 10
I was at the Trevor Project Cracked Xmas 10 event, so will fill you in on some of the details, for those that want to know. I am an AfterEllen.com contributing writer, but i also volunteer for the Trevor Project.
Margaret Cho, Alex Mapa, Bruce Vilanch all did stand-up, which has become part of the tradition of Cracked Xmas: a fun way to look at a serious topic.
Ellen DeGeneres and Jodie Foster both became involved in the Trevor Project when the film "Trevor" aired on HBO in 1998. Randy Stone, who Foster has referered to many times as her best friend - including during her speech during Cracked Xmas - was the films producer.
Stone passed away earlier this year of a heart attack. Foster donated a million dollars to the Trevor Project, and the money is being used to create the Randy Stone Call Center.
A chunk of the night included a short piece about Stone, which had some heartfealt interviews with Foster, Stone's brother and other friends that remembered someone who was clearly well-respected by his peers.
I've had the chance to go to a lot of red carpet events since I've lived in LA, and I find that sometimes the best speeches are the ones given at the events that aren't televised, because they can be both longer and more personally directed at the audience and friends in attendance.
Foster's speech again mentioned Stone, and how much she loved him and misses him still, it's clear.
On a lighter note, Margaret Cho was the funniest I have ever seen her, but I can't figure out a way to write any parts of her stand-up with out writing it like this:
Larry Craig, toe-tapping, **** ***** ***** ***** ***** *****.
Ditto for Mapa, so I'm just going to ask you to trust me and know it was hysterical. Cho also joked (not joked?) that she was pretty sure that she would eventually end up being a lesbian.
T.R. Knight was there, and gave a brief speech before DeGeneres came on stage. The clip of him talking to Ellen on her show about being called a faggot was played. He appeared pretty choked up before announcing DeGeneres.
Knight has really come out and shown support for LGBT causes, making him second only to Judith Light and Jane Lynch. Knight was also at the Point Foundation awards dinner, another star-studded fundraiser held a few months ago.
The speech DeGeneres gave wrapped up the night. She said that standing up and giving speeches like that was actually harder for her than people realize; that it's not easy just because she does a talk show. She didn't crack jokes during her speech, but instead focused on the importance of being true to yourself.
She said that she was lucky, because she didn't lead a hard life, and she had a mom and a dad that loved her. She talked about how important, ultimately, it is to trust that who you are, and who you want to be, is okay. She ended her speech with what she said was the most important thing to her: compassion for others.
