It's time once again for another instantly classic installment of your favorite kitchen table comedy show, This Just Out with Liz Feldman. It's Liz's birthday show and you're all invited to the kitchen! This week, Liz interviews her "friend" and super-talented actress Clea Duvall (Heroes, Carnivale, Girl Interrupted, But I'm a Cheerleader). Liz makes Clea an offer she can't refuse ... or can she?
And now that gay marriage is legal in California, Liz has a huge announcement! It's a homemade jam-packed episode filled with great blazer advice, extra large cocktails, and plenty of nudity. This Just Out with Liz Feldman: Episode 4 "Birthdays, Engagements, and Clea Duvall"
Liz is performing in NY for one night only, June 11th! Check out her myspace page for more info. To keep your finger in the v-hole of pop-culture, visit Raimy's blog at muthafunka.blogspot.com.Submitted by on May 26, 2008 - 8:40am. |

Clea! It's Clea! My life is
Clea! It's Clea! My life is complete. Clea is on AE. Sarah Warn, I love you. I already did, but now it's official. This just may be my happiest day on this site, ever.
Edit: okay, I just watched it, and seriously, how fucking cool is Clea?! I love her as an actress, she can do so many different things (tough in BIAC/The Faculty, sweet and vulnerable in Girl, Interrupted/21 Grams, and everything in between). But even though she's an amazing actress, I still don't know how the hell she managed to keep a straight face. Anyway. Clea, you're beautiful and talented, and thank you SO much for doing this. You rock.
Andd... Happy birthday Liz! (Wow, a lot of people have their birthday this week. Including mine this Friday. I feel so young!)
Happy birthday for last
Happy birthday for last Wednesday Liz!
...Get your brain parts out of your v-hole... Oh dear, i'll be quoting that one at inappropriate moments.

OMG, CLEA DUVALL!!!!!!!!!
Clea Duvall Is a Great Actress
Liz got her to smile a few times
Though, I was impressed she didn't break out laughing at some points.
LIZ: I have been wanting to ask you this for a long time. Don't be scared. I feel like we're like met to be friends. And I just wanted to say: Would you be my best friend?
CLEA: Umm... Do you have to be my best friend?
<everybody laughs>
LIZ: And you're funny! That's 'cause we're both funny and then we can like make people laugh together and stuff. I mean I'm not that funny, you're probably funnier.
CLEA: Probably.
Oh.My.God. I briefly
lizalicious.
Hey Liz!
You're too cute with all your facial expressions. I thought the ending was a bit sad...and at the same time so good (again) ;). You're endings with the shout out to the guests are always very funny =P haha.
OMG you have a personal stylist. How cool is that! She looks like a great one too.
And I always have the trouble with my hair sticking to my lips when I just put chapstick or something on. Really annoying ;).
And how about Clea, she's just too cool for words yes. I think you're totally right... the two of you are a match made in heaven  (BFF's 4evaahh:P) haha.
CANNOOOTTT wait for next week.
p.s. it is my b-day today. The 26th of may :D
Happy Birthday, Liz!

Interviews this week are awesome!!!
HOLY CRAP! The interviews this week have been amazing! Yesterday Kate McKinnon was on Brunch with Bridget and today Clea DuVall is on This Just Out. This is why catholics are wrong, God has to love the gays to make that happen. This is so weird though I was just talking with my friend yesterday about Clea and her movies and then BAM shes being interviewed by Liz. I love the way my brain parts work. But still it was fantastic and funny and I couldn't stop laughing. Awesome job Liz.
P.S. Tell Alexis that I love her suspenders!

I already wished you a pre-b-day now I'm wishing you a b-lated birthday. I love this episode of your vlog. Funny! Funny! Funny! I love it when your guests play along. They're just so cool for doing it. Clea, is a great actress and looks great with her grown out. However, I want to see Claire Danes on your show. Please have her on your show!
This is in my top fav episode on Afterellen and on your vlog.
Clea Duvall? WHATTT?
Clea Duvall? WHATTT? Wow.... I was so in love with her. I even bought those strange movies like Ghosts of Mars and Evilution just because she was in them.
Too bad she didn't really talk much :-(
Happy Birthday Liz!!!
So i know it was a while ago now, but Happy Birthday Liz. This show just keeps getting better and better. But, now how are you going to top Clea Duvall. She is the coolest person ever.
Can't wait for next week.
OMG Cleaaa!!
This just made my day :P
Liz you are the best!! <3 you!!
Btw, people that are not from the US can't use Pandora... they give you a note explaining why on the website... so don't even bother :(
www.myspace.com/carolconti
What did the note say?
Cause I´m not from the US and I had no trouble with it.....
It says...
"Dear Pandora Visitor,
We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for the time being we are required to restrict its use. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative."
blahblahblahblah x(
www.myspace.com/carolconti
Oh!
Damn.... sorry! I thought it may have been something temporal.
Anyway if I were you I would try again cause it is working for me (outside the US obviously) and my friends :)
last.fm
www.last.fm
works worldwide
or you can cheat all the "only us" blockings by downloading hot spot shield (google it)
I used to have pandora till they add this only us thing; Fortunately I discover last.fm.
there is another site like
Thank you very much!!! :D
Thank you very much!!! :D
www.myspace.com/carolconti
last.fm
yup i second that, i was gona mention it myself, because I couldn't get Pandora to work either being in the UK, but wasn't too concerned because I have a last.fm account, and its good
and probably better to use if it works everywhere.. 'cus you're not limited by where you live and so there is a better community?..
so maybe Liz should mention this one too?
Happy Belated B-Day
You are SUPER FUNNY!!!
Keep them coming
O and thanks for the tip about pandora this is now my new favorite music website its awesome
Excuse me a sec -
Ohmygodit'sCleaDuvall! Okay, I'm back. I'm having an embarassingly fangirly moment. The only way I could've been more excited is if Clea Duvall was standing next to me. I've had a large and somewhat obsessive crush on her for years now. And when I say large and obsessive, I mean Large. And. Obsessive.
Great episode, excuse me while I try to wipe the stupid smile off my face. For a second in the beginning I was wondering why Liz looked different - it was a blazerless Liz! Heh. And happy birthday to you, Liz!
Happy Birthday, Liz!
Wow, you're so lucky to have Clea DuVall as your best friend! She seems so cool!!!
May I suggest you call her "C-Duv", pronounced either "See Dove" or "See Doove", however you and she prefer.
Oh, and my birthday was May 19, so, maybe you and I could split the difference and celebrate together on May 20th next year.
This might have been good...
thank you
you are not the only
you are not the only one.
the 'interview' was annoying. this woman didn't let clea say a word? wtf? she obviously wasn't happy with it too. it looked disrespectful !
Clea was in on the joke
Just to clarify, Clea (like Kate Moennig, and all of Liz's other guests) was in on the joke with Liz - i.e. this was planned by both of them ahead of time. So Clea's response was part of the joke.
The day I was born, is when I met Sarah Warn...
double post
The day I was born, is when I met Sarah Warn...
Oh, Sarah. You must be tired of typing this over and over again.
So I just wanted to add that based on the post I've read people who don't like this either don't get that the guest is in on the joke, or they just have a different taste in humor than Liz's style. Which is alright, different strokes for different folks right? You'd think the background laughter would give a hint that these are not serious interviews. Perhaps a little note at the beginning of these vlogs may clear this up.
So sorry
I too am so sorry that you have to continually post this, it seems so obvious to me. I can't believe that people honestly thought that this was a for real interview in that Clea was really mad. Come on people its all one big joke. Again sorry Sarah that you have to keep typing this same comment.

Liz Feldman and Clea Duvall
Liz isn't suppose to be Ellen. They have different styles, thats the point. as a comedian its good to have different styles and have their own personality invested in their work. everyone should shoot for that. I respect your opinion but it did come off as somewhat mean. After all she's making a vlog for the fun of it and for the hell of it, I dont think she's getting paid. Personally I like Liz and her quirky/self depricating sense of humor, it makes her more attractive. I dont see the point of negativity...but to each their own.
I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE LIZ IN NYC (with her blue blaze, hopefully)
So don't sit through it
I'm just curious why people feel the need to insult somebody, especially when they didn't even pay to watch it. Personally, I think we should all be grateful that the AfterEllen vloggers are willing to put themselves out there at not cost to us and with limited benefits for them. If you don't like some of the vloggers, just don't watch them. Why insult someone for something that you haven't been forced to watch and haven't paid for? Seriously, what is to be gained from that?
~ Angie
i couldn't sit through it
.... that's kinda the point. i happen to think it's okay to say something is not great--that's part of the deal. i prefer to think that women aren't so fragile that they can't handle the fact that not everybody loves their work. how do you get better at what you do if you never consider how your work might be done better?
if i was in an audience listening to her to live stand-up i would--not applaud or leave. this is me not appauding--maybe even offering a little boo. i think it's great that she puts herself out there but if she's only there to be adored she's in the wrong business. i just don't get why we have to turn mediocrity into icon. that being said, i actually think she has something unpolished there. it just feels like she's trying too hard, or that she's not just being herself. i suspect she'll get better at it but not if she only listens to those that would drool over her.
i suspect that as a comedian she has a rather thick skin by now. and as you yourself suggest, if she or others don't like my comments, they don't have to sit through them. i tried to watch the vlog because of clea, odds are i won't bother again--or a least not for quite a while. oh and the reason i don't "pay" for what the site offers is because it provides me with plenty of ads up for my consideration. and i suspect the vloggers aren't just doing this for our benefit, they may have higher hopes than that.
Just one opinion
I, too, think it's okay to say something's not great if specific reasons are given and it's in the interest of helping the person. I was mostly reacting to the "painful to sit through" comment, not yours. I'm not sure how "painful to sit through" helps someone improve their act.
I'm sure Liz Feldman has been in the business long enough to take anything thrown at her. I wasn't defending her or suggesting people should only leave positive comments. I was just honestly wondering why people feel the need to leave negative comments (not constructive criticism) on a vlog that was free and voluntary to watch.
It's your opinion that Liz Feldman is mediocre, which is just as valid as the opinion of those fawning over her, but I see your point on the similar lack of substance to some of the positive posts, too. I'm sure I'm guilty of that on some of the other vlogs. I don't always find Liz Feldman funny either, but it's okay with me because sometimes she makes me laugh hysterically.
I didn't mean to imply that the vloggers are doing it strictly for our benefit. I think I said "limited" benefits for them. Namely, unbridled adoration from many people on this site, and added exposure to help increase their audience for their paying gigs. However, I don't think those are their only - or even their primary - reasons for doing these vlogs.
