SHE MADE ME WATCH THIS! Lesbian Movie TabooI know we said we weren't going to do a video blog this weekend, but Lori and I decided to play Lesbian Movie Taboo earlier this week, and thought we'd post it for your amusement (we hope) over the long weekend. What's Lesbian Movie Taboo? It's our video version of the board game Taboo with a lesbian twist, in which we try to guess the lesbian movie based on progressively easier clues that can't include the name of the movie, the characters, or the actresses (also, there are no hairdryers, dolls, or broccoli trees, because that's so last week). For example, Lori started off one movie with the clue "it featured a blond in black" (um, isn't that every lesbian movie?). Then I stumped her on a movie I described as "we hated the movie but liked the lead actress" (c'mon, that's easy!). We both used "it was depressing" or "there were drugs in the movie" as clues far too often (because it's not a lesbian movie if someone isn't on a drug-fueled downward spiral). Surprisingly, since she generally doesn't like lesbian movies, Lori correctly guessed more of them than I expected — apparently she has learned something from living with me, after all.

I watched Valley of the Dolls in one of my classes, good movie, it would've been better if it had a lesbian character though (come on it's a showbiz movie!)

I got like three. I was screaming RENT! And I hadn't even seen the damn movie :D Also, Imagine Me & You... kinda obvious. But only because I've watched that movie about a billion times.
But like Lori, I'm more into the disaster/adventure/thriller/sci-fi genres so bring on the Twister, and don't even get me started on Indiana Jones or National Treasure or Tomb Raider. What can I say, those are a LOT more interesting than some random lesbian movies... I mean, I like to support the community just as much as the next gal but the lezzie filmmakers aren't exactly making it easy or painless... That's all I'm saying :D

In all honesty I could sit and watch lesbian movies with you any day but you'll never ever be invited to join me on $100,000 pyramid. Not that it exists anymore. I'm just sayin' . . .

Better than nothing
Foreshame! How can anyone miss the glaringly obvious RENT clues? I have the soul of a big gay Broadway queen so I was dying to see how it transitioned on to film and, of course, I was dissappointed. The acting left much to be desired between songs but I did LOVE Tracy Thoms with Idina Menzel. It's rare enough to see a black lesbian role on the big screen but one played well? She managed to come off as intelligent and (at times) confident which is why it angered me to no end to see her back door and play a loud mouthed sterotypical black chick in 'Grindhouse'. I mean I loved her in Wonderfalls but I am about to go on a whole other tangent. Falling trash cans, black lesbian, and singing will always equal RENT.

Totally thirded with Better Than Chocolate. Ok, neither of the main actresses were my type, but surely they could think of something better to do with two attractive young women than roll them around in some paint? Such wank. The dildo scene with the mother was mildly amusing, and the t/g character was really the only one I liked.
I got High Art with the first clue. Funnily enough, I didn't find it too depressing, despite Ally Sheedy's demise - and I hate depressing movies. I think I was relieved that Syd was no longer involved with the addict trainwreck, and she wasn't returning to straightdom afterward.
I have to say, I totally didn't get Imagine Me and You from those clues! I love the movie, too. Perhaps DDR and mentioning florists might have done it for me, or lead actresses starring in homoerotic Greek epics...?

If you feel so compelled to talk trash to me, or any other poster, then take the seconds of extra effort to make use of the private messaging system. The reply threads are for comments pertaining to the vlog. Common courtesy, not I, should tell you that. Have respect for yourself, other users, and most importantly for Sarah and Lori who may scroll through their reply messeges and be forced to witness to your random act of bitchiness. Have nothing nice to say? Then keep it to yourself in the future.
By the way Einstein is just a great quote. I don't need to justify my usage of it to you or any other person. Your comment (and copying my signature) sure does reflect your maturity level.

I am sorry but telling us in every post you make, that you speak 4 languages implies a case of "showing off"!
Especially when you do so in combination with using a quote in German on a clearly predominately English site!
Personally I think it comes across as pretentious! A quality that often leads to a slightly irritated response I have noticed!
And as to sticking to topic... since the vlog was a game and not a review of movies, strictly speaking stating your views on how much you liked or disliked a movie mentioned in the game played in this vlog is as much on topic as someone responding by stating her opinion on your opinion.Or other content of your post! But that is just my opinion:)

I merely meant that it'd be really awesome for anyone to drop me a line in another language because that's my hobby but now I see that it should be a profile factoid. I am hardly the fake 'wanna be' smarty pants bitch it would seem I come off as.
However, that first poster was just plain rude and behavior like that is never needed. Mocking the sig is flame worthy.
I honestly am used to messege board formats so I still feel that I stray off topic with any reply not about the posted content but thanks a billion for the constructive input!
Revised sig should be Makkun 99.9% less pretentious. As for how my wording makes my thoughts come out a bit jumbled when I type, that I cannot help, it's just how I am and if anyone doesn't like it they can just skip my posts.

Yes, I enjoyed 'Better then chocolate'. A lot! And I think I even got the point of the movie. Maybe you should have considered that before I and other users were forced to see your 'random act of bitchiness' and 'trashing'. Common courtesy. Really! (<--- sarcasm, thought i mention it, just in case...)
See, I have lots of nice things to say. Just not about your comment, it still sucks in my opinion. So if you criticize someone's use of imagination. I will call you up on that if you use a quote just a few lines below that actually encourages the use of imagination because it so important to this world. Which would have been clear to you if you'd not only understand the words of what Mr. Einstein said, but also the meaning behind the words. :)

Ok this was funny cas I was sitting here trying to figure the movies out...and I got the hunger just because of the supernatural clue....it was either going to be that or that crappy spiderbabe latenight b cinemax movie....which I doubt lori or sarah would have watched at all...I only did cas I was drunk and I couldn't find the remote...imagin me and you song was by the turtles and what was with 60's bands...the beatles, the monkeys, the turles, the zombies..ok I was way to geeky there..

Of those 7, I own Rent, The Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls in Love, and Imagine Me and You. I also own Eulogy but missed it. Other movies mentioned in the vlog that I own are Bend it Like Beckham, Femme Fatale, Gia, and Underworld.
Also, I am sure that Personal Best was an 80's movie, not a 90's movie.

Imagine Me & You - Got it on the flowers! Kelly Marie's "Feels Like I'm In Love", GREAT song and great scene) Gia - Depressed and taking drugs (oh, not me. That was the clue I got it on). Rent - Have almost no idea of what this is but I got it on the "on stage" clue. Two Girls In Love - Haven't seen yet, will though. I guessed it as early as the teenagers clue. Better Than Chocolate - this took me a while but bad movie with hot short haired blonde, kinda good clue. I can't believe how many lesbian movies there are that I am yet to see! I'll have to watch this again and write down all the titles.
Can't you do this with TV-shows some time? Like name that lesbian couple. 1. "I'm not in to labels" "2."(name), I'm an employee of the home office! Do you have any idea?!" 3. Lori, your t-shirt, what was the name of that cartoon? I used to watch it when I was a kid. I know it was about an ant and anteater. I'm probably wrong but wasn't one of the characters name Frank.
Lesbian movies suck in general. Only a few got it right. What they need to do is use straight scripts and change the lead man to a woman. Then maybe I won't be tortured as much trying to find a good movie. Example Imagine Me & You was supposed to be a straight movie.

I only got about two, I couldnt belive i didnt get Rent sooner than i did though gah! High art as a first date movie isnt too horrendously bad lol, the first lesbian movie I ever watched in my entire life was Lost and Delirious, I think that movie shoved me deeper into the closet by at least a year! Not a good first impression lol.
