"Saturday Night Live" Hires Tina Fey to Play Michelle ObamaNew York, NY — Emmy-winning writer, actor and comedian Tina Fey (30 Rock) has agreed to return to Saturday Night Live for several episodes this season to play First Lady Michelle Obama. "Tina's Sarah Palin impersonation was ratings gold for us," said SNL executive producer Lorne Michaels at a press conference announcing the news. "So when we started writing skits about America's new First Lady, we naturally thought of Tina."
Michaels admitted Fey expressed reservations about playing the First Lady when he first raised the idea with her over dinner the night before, but says she changed her mind "after several shots of tequila." When asked by a reporter whether a black actress/comedian might be a more appropriate choice, Michaels replied, "we don't have any black women in the cast, and Angelina Jolie wasn't available." Tina Fey, who was not at the press conference, has reluctantly confirmed the arrangement, but says she was under the impression the contract she signed that night was a credit card receipt for mozzarella sticks. When informed of the news at the christening of a local Coscto in Juneau, AK, Gov. Sarah Palin said she was relieved that someone else would be "the target of the liberal media elite" for a change, adding that she always suspected Michelle Obama of "palling around with comedians." Wow, I didn't know it was fakes, duh me. I wonder why I said I get the underline sentiment. I was here when the first time the FakeGayNews was a hot commodity. In fact, it was the ONLY reason why I signed up for an account. I like Dara's humor in all her work. Sarah W's not bad either.
I was being funny about the revival. You know when something is dead. You revive it. Kind of like Christians feel about Christianity during the summer months and they hold revivals to revive the"spirit" of Jesus. (ooops spillin' too much tea about my childhood memories). I'm glad Sarah W got it. If noone else did. I must be rusty on my snarkiness. My snark has left me. Dang,where's my magic wand?

Thanks for all the comments! To answer the questions above: yes, this is a revival of sorts of FakeGayNews.com (which we had to stop maintaining a few years ago b/c we just didn't have the staff). As for whether Dara will be contributing any FGN posts, it depends on her schedule - she's pretty busy these days.
And re: the name, we're still going to use FGN even when the news isn't explicitly gay, because it's still written by gay people, at least. :)

And, then I was reminded of the initial response of some viewers to Liz Feldman's first vlog post of "This Just Out" with special guest 'Shane from The L Word'. Before it was expressly stated that KM was in on the joke in the written intro, a bunch viewers were like, "I can't believe Liz can't separate reality from TV or Kate looks so uncomfortable." Meanwhile, I couldn't believe that an alarming number of people didn't get the joke.
But, I digress. My favorite part was the reference to Angelina Jolie. If remember correctly it's about that dramatic movie she did a few years back about some lady searching for her husband or something. I remember being shocked and appalled when I found out that it was the (true?) story of an African-American woman. Hollywood is lame.
And, I, too, want to express my hope for Dara's snark to be a regular feature for the reemergence of FGN. I didn't even know FGN was affiliated with AE until Dara mentioned that that was where she started during her interview on Brunch.

Great to see FGN has returned. Even if it's not a regular blog, it will be a fun surprise when it does appear. Looking forward to reading how the witty AE writers skewer the absurdities of Hollywood.
I'm not sure that the warning that the blog is a satrical fake is obvious enough. Perhaps it should be bolded, underlined, in bright red that flashes.
