Renee O'Connor coming to a computer screen near youYesterday, Variety announced that 60Frames (an online content producer) and Oni Press (a large indie comic book publisher) have partnered to launch a new sci-fi series called Ark, created by Robbie Thompson and developed by Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah of Freaks and Geeks fame, who are currently showrunners on the CW's Beverly Hills, 90210 remake. Ark, which will launch sometime next year as a comic series and a web series, is about a young woman who wakes up in a coffin-like capsule on a large spacecraft. The story will explore how and why she got there, and if she can get home While the official announcement doesn't mention who's starring in the web series — which will feature a combination of live-action and CGI — my sources tell me it's Renee O'Connor (Xena: The Warrior Princess).
In Renee's next movie, Monster Ark (debuting on the SciFi Channel on Saturday, August 9th), she and actor Tim DeKay fight evil while searching for the mythical Noah's Ark.
Renee recently described her character in Monster's Ark as "an expert on all things to do with the area around the Dead Sea. They discover that there's another ark out there and they go to try to retrieve it to be the first archeologists who get this great find. But then, there has to be a monster involved." Doesn't it suck that there's always a monster involved? But hey, as long as the "monster" isn't a lesbian serial killer, I'm happy! Submitted by on July 18, 2008 - 8:40am. |

YEEEE
Sarah...I really hope your sources are right. I LOVE Ren and I love everything she does...this would be wicked! Especially after the Army Wives debacle.
Now, is there any chance she could "wake up in a coffin-like capsule and realize she's a lesbian trapped on a spaceship full of eligible women?"
Haha...a girl can dream. Thanks for the news!

Yea ROC!
Well Ill certainly be watching. I watch anything and everything with Renee in it, and as a Carniavle fan, Ill also opt for Tim DeKay. And I agree with the previous comment and would like to throw my hat in the ring to play one of those eligable spaceship aliens :)
Leisha, sweety, I mean Miss Hailey... call me. Yeah that's right.
Renee is back!
Sci-fi Channel = Bad sci-fi
Sci-fi Channel = Bad sci-fi really there is nothing that they have made is any good.
Ark the web series sounds good though.

the devil is in the details
Love Renee!
Like y'all have said i too love Renee and everything she does! i can't wait to see her in a new series.
I kinda agree with the whole bad sci-fi on the sci-fi channel overall, but there are a few exceptions.
Woo!
Ooopsy!
Renee and Sci-Fi
Anything that Renee puts her mark on is good in my book. She brings such heart to any character that she portrays. The fact that she is very selective of which roles she will take is a wonderful thing. She has to really feel something for/from the character before she will dedicate the time it takes to be away from her children. Kudos to her for that... and I'm hoping many more great roles come her way.
While it's true that most of the Sci-Fi channel original movies leave something to be desired, most of their TV shows and mini-series are very well done. I for one am looking forward to seeing Monster Ark in a few weeks because I know what a wonderful job Renee will do.
Is anyone else...
...
I can picture it... good call! ;)
Ooopsy!
