She Got Me Pregnant: Episode 22Dana of Mombian brings you a special interview with Sarah Brannen, author and illustrator of the new LGBT-inclusive children's book Uncle Bobby's Wedding. (Dana's partner, Helen, takes a break from vlogging this week, though she's busy with her real job, advancing the frontiers of technology.) Brannen discusses the process of creating the book, shows us some early sketches of the characters, and talks about the skull fracture that nearly waylaid publication. She also shares pictures and ideas from some books she's working on now, including one featuring a two-mom family. Submitted by on April 3, 2008 - 9:00am. |

love your vlogs!
... just wanted to say that! and i think that any kid can consider themselves more than lucky having such great parents as you guys are.
I wish i had such a cool mum - basically, i spent my childhood in complete boredom, my nose stuck in 3 books a day. eww... not very funny and social. ;-)
P.S.: nice interior design btw!
... singin' 'rudolph, the red nosed reindeer'!
Sarah, thank you for sharing
how your book went from concept to publication. I'm just finishing up my degree in art because I've decided to illustrate my own children's books. I've written a few books but didn't want anyone else to illustrate them so I decided to learn the tools I needed to do them myself. I can't wait to pick up "Uncle Bobbie's Wedding" so I can see the entire book of illustrations.
Shele
Thanks!
Aw, thanks, hinterquxli CH. I can't take credit for the interior design, though--we were at Sarah Brannen's house. And yes, especially as a redhead, I've heard a few "Rudolph" jokes in my time.... :-)
Good luck with your books, Shele!
