She Got Me Pregnant: Episode 21Dana and Helen of Mombian.com urge viewers to submit names of LGBT moms for the "America's Favorite Mom" contest, and share an easy kids' activity that could keep you from spending $25 in a toy store. Helen then gets on her soapbox telling politicians a few "things your mama should have taught you." Plus pirates, matzo meal, and another sneak appearance by their cat. (See if you can spot him this time.) Submitted by on March 27, 2008 - 8:30am. |

I like the ...
Different homemade playsets.... ;-)
Some of them I used myself for my ninja turtles/playmobil/lego/Gi-joes/heman dolls when I was a little
dykegirl, some of them I now use with my little cousin Julia:- a geranium pot (or other) = a tropical desert island
- a pile of VHS/Beta tapes = a mexican pyramid
- a big brown blanket + big newspaper balls under it = a desert with dunes
- various flattened out egg boxes = lunar landscape
- a white pillow = an iceberg
- a spaghetti colander = an UFO
- a plastic shower curtain = the sea
- potato peels = mutant monster worms
- shoelaces = drawlines for multiple purposes/scenarios
- a cocktail shaker = a time capsule
ok, some of them are stupid, most of them are lame ... but I've had lots of fun with them!!!
oh and yeah.... HORTON ROCKS!!!
Playsets and friends
Baarlijan Xen: Those are great ideas! I especially like the mutant monster worms.
Fem Doc: We've been lucky in that all our friends have been supportive. The ones without children were a little overwhelmed, though, when we'd visit with our infant and all the stuff we needed even for a short trip. Visiting has gotten easier as our son has gotten older, though. Our social calendars have definitely changed, though; it's not as easy just to go out to dinner with friends. We've also moved to two different states since becoming parents, so we keep up with many of our older friends through e-mail--and the new friends we meet tend to also have children, just because we meet them through our son's school and activities.
