Gay Girls Who Game: Episode 6

This week's episode of Gay Girls Who Game is a special Valentine's-themed edition. Tracy and Angela suggest the best Valentine's Day gifts for those gaming or geeky girls in your life, and outline the 5 rules for seducing a non-gamer girl. Hilarious (and true!). You probably won't be surprised to learn that one of them is to let her win...

They also cover the latest gaming news, must-have classic X-Box games, and what they've been playing this week.

    I Feel so Famous!

    You mentioned me TWICE! Yippee!

    Retro Games
How retro are you going? I have a few suggestions for topics:

    1. Sonya Blade from Mortal Kombat, and her awesome leg slam move that'll work on any other player, but gets blocked by the NPCs after like the third level.

    2. I've mentioned it before: The Misadventures of Tron Bonne. It's a PS1 spinoff from Megaman Legends, and most people don't like it. However, Tron Bonne is the coolest space pirate chick ever. Why oh why is there no sequel to this game on DS and Wii?

    3. Apparently there was a Xena game on the N64. Never played it. Did you? Was it good?

    4. The rise of such atrocities as Barbie and Mary Kate and Ashley video games, which were the only games made for women for years.

    5. The "shocking twist" at the end of Metroid (Samus is revealed to be a woman... even though the game manual refers to her in the masculine).

    6. What a "Virtual Boy" is. I mean, everything about that is funny.

    for #3

i remember that and a hercules video game for n64... they were both pretty bad.

    like really bad.

but it's fun for novelty sake, i suppose...  just like shaq fu was for sega genesis.

    XD

    Janet: Everybody's talking about it.
    Amy: About what?
Janet: How you met Lucy and lived to tell about it. They're calling you a hero, when really you're a slut.
    Amy: You shut up
    Janet: A gay slut.

    Gay Gamers Vlogs

I'm a non-gamer lesbian but I think this vlog is great. Nice Background. I totally loved the GG opener. Extremely creative. You put a lot of thought inot your vlog. Nice.

"Do I have to dial 9 to call 911?"( This  quote was shared to me by a nurse who was talking about her then 14 year old  daughter who asked her  this while the father was suffering a heat stroke)

    I was mentioned!

It doesn't happen often when I leave comments.  It's nice to know that there will be a retro gaming version coming.  After all, I pine for the days when Sega and Atari still made consoles.

Because you were wondering and for my own solidarity, my name is pronounced like the name "Abe", but with a v instead of a b.  Nobody gets it right when they read it, I've found.

I wanted to add some other ideas of games to play with a non-gamer:

Soul Calibur II (since non-gamers tend to mash buttons)

Mario Kart (it's exhilerating and simple)

Mortal Kombat II (since Jax and Liu Kang are so easy to use)

    the 5 rules...too funny!

You guys had me cracking up with your 5 rules for a Valentine's date with a non-gamer.  Especially #4 & #5!!!  Loved the seasonal decor & music to set the mood! (It wasn't too loud, really).  I am gonna have to check out Burnout for PS2, thanks!!  Loved your "touch wood" expression.  Here in the states we "knock wood" *raps closed fisted knuckles on head*!  But anyways, thanks for all the laughs and tips!  Have a good gaming week.

oh yeah, and rockband is better!  more instruments means more fun!

    Janet: Everybody's talking about it.
    Amy: About what?
Janet: How you met Lucy and lived to tell about it. They're calling you a hero, when really you're a slut.
    Amy: You shut up
    Janet: A gay slut.

    Thanks Ladies

Thanks for answering my question from last week. I'll definately get saving to buy my retro xbox games.

Great Vlog again. I loved the Valentine theme, although I would never play a computer game with a date I get too competitive and then more interested in the game then her. Luckily my current partner knows my faults and either joins in with my gaming or bans me for a few days.

     Thanks again ladies your stars

ooo I've been looking to get me one of those. Here in the US they range from $300 to $400 on Newegg.

Love your tips on dating non-gamers. My girlfriend doesn't really play and I've had to seriously cut-down on my gaming hours. (MMORPGS almost torpedoed our relationship)

Thank you for another great episode. You two are so cute :)

    You guys rock!

You guys rock! I can't believe I've never watched this vlog before. Shame on me.

Some original Xbox games that I definitely reccommend are:

    - Kotor I & II

    - Jade Empire

    - Fable

I'm also over on Xbox Live & part of the Xbox Gamerchix which gamer gals should take a look at and join us! (my gamertag is Mooseius)

Will definitely watch your vlog next week!

    AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!....

Alack! I too! am in a split OS house .... Mrs. Pirategrrrl is a Mac grrrl all the way. And of course, yours truly is completely devoted to sony products. Sometimes you just need a good right angle, aye? HOWEVER! I do not acknowledge Vista.

the i-pod touch - being the perfect Mac grrrl *my* valentine is, has one of those. and a nano. and an iphone. I could go on, but it's too depressing.

I think rule # 4 should ESPECIALLY be applied to PC games in particular - like WoW. And #5 ... that's my problem. I must be too obvious when I let Mrs. Pirategrrrl win. I get accused of patronization on a semi-regular basis. So beware!

BTW - you two are my new Goddesses of Geekdom. I've been spreading your gospel [via lesbiangeek.com] to EVERYONE I know. Gay/straight/kittens/turtles, etc.

Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be pirates. [Mark Twain]

    Retro Games

These may be bordering on super retro but I love Chucky Egg, Fruit Machine, Bust a Move and Paperboy on the Commodor 64. There was also a cool circus game that was on the cartridge thingy.

My all time fave retro game has got to be Super Mario All-Stars. Mario looked so cute in his little racoon and frog outfits to name but a few. Donkey Kong comes a close second. I recently downloaded the original version of Super Mario bros. 3 and Donkey Kong on the Wii Virtual Arcade and although it is great to play them again they just don’t compare to the Snes version. ( snif, my snes just recently broke down also)

My weekly whine: Why are there hardly ever any points available on the Wii points card shop and when there is only 100 points are left and then most of the stuff from the stars catalogue are sold out.
    Sort it out Nintendo.

Great Valentines vlog btw, there was some cool gift suggestions but unfortunately giving the state of my bank balance I was only able to buy my gf Resident Evil 4 wii edition, but I did paint her living room so that kinda made it up for it, lol
