This week Tracy and Angela go all Larry David with their Curb Your Enthusiasm game ratings. They review NiGHTS, FIFA Street 3, Turning Point and more, and tell you why you should become a fan of Spandex immediately. Angela fumes over the Cooper Lawrence issue and Tracy discusses the time when her hands were out of action due to too much Tony Hawk's 2.
Enjoy their Dreamcast homage where they discuss some of the best titles available and best Dreamcast moments. They also reveal more geekiness in the form of lesbiangeek.com. Submitted by on February 5, 2008 - 2:30pm. |

Alien Nazis, Ender's Game
ENDER'S GAME ON XBLA
Again I must be jealous of all 360 owners... I LOVED Ender's Game (the book), in spite of Orson Scott Card's political leanings. I also loved Speaker of the Dead and Xenocide, but I got kinda tired of the series after that. And just FYI, Shadow of the Giant was LAME!
ALIEN NAZIS
I have the perfect solution. V - The Game. This was a set of TV miniseries/shows/movies my mom introduced me to (thanks Mommy!) and you might could guess why I'm into it.
'Nuff said.

I still love that game.

playstation 2
hi i m from Peru , here in latinoamerica most of us still using playstation 2 , please can you recommend me a good game of car races because i m a huge fan of those games.
thanks
Some PS2 car race games that I enjoy
Some car race games that I have found enjoyable (but the girls who game may not) are:
WRC World Rally Championship series from evolution studios - race against the clock on the very realistic WRC courses in all of the WRC countries. This is truly my favorite because the graphics are very good and the courses are all challenging in their own ways. 1-2 people can play.
Gran Turismo 3 from Sony entertainment - Great choice of vehicles and set ups. Race against the game or another user. As with the game above, this game is best enjoyed with a Logitech driving force steering wheel and gas/brake pedal peripheral.
4X4 EVO - dirt racing on courses, against the 3 other cars, but with creative shortcuts if you can find them. 1-2 people can play.
Test Drive Off Road: Wide Open by infogrames - no boundaries racing across different terrains.
I have played V-Rally3, another world rally championship game from Atari, but I found it cumbersome as you have to actually manage the day to day drudgery of finding a sponsor, winning races to buy upgrades for your car, managing your expenses. Me, I just wanna race man!
Hope that helps, and if it doesn't maybe the game girls will have some better choices for you.
cheers
thanks
I LOVED Tony Hawk 2 and Jet
I LOVED Tony Hawk 2 and Jet Grind Radio! Such awesome games.
Have you guys played Rez HD on XBLA yet? I'm curious what you think of it :)
DOWN with the MAC!
Angela, PLEASE don't succomb to the dark side...
And the next time ya'll are stuck in LA, send me a PM! You can come over and play MY God of War ... and remember - it's GRAPHIC. Although God of War 2 is worse than God of War in terms of graphicness. to be concise: it's NOT Boogie Bunnies.
Also - for Wii - I recommend Mario Paper Party - Mario in RPG form? AWESOME.
Fox? News? Apologize? Oh my ladies.
BTW - shout outs to the Star Trek mug, the 12 and 20 sided die, and Sega Dreamcast flashback! I STILL HAVE MY GENESIS!!!! :) ALL ABOUT THE GEEKS!!!!!

Ahem- lets talk Super Famicom
Wonderful as always- the sega dreamcast brings back alot of memories. But lets chat about the Super Famicom it was 16-bit goodness... alot of good times where had with my Super Famicom.
Also as a computer gamer which doesn't really do consoles I was wondering about portable consoles. For a grad student what would you two ladies sugest a DS or a PSP? I was thinking DS purely for Animal Crossing.. but the PSP just does so much more.. help please.
OK if I make my suggestion for ya?
"Super Famicon" looks weird to me in print, we tend to call it the "SNES" over here. Personally I hardly even played it, I just stuck with my NES until I could afford an N64. But I did play Clue on it a few times.
It should be noted that my opinion is pretty biased, but as far as the DS vs. PSP, it's really just a matter of what kind of gamer you are. Both are region-free, which means you can play a game imported from Japan or whatever with no difficulty.
The PSP is more expensive in just about every way, but you get better graphics and a few exclusive titles that are pretty awesome, like a Megaman Legends & Megaman Legends 2 (most people hated those games, but I <3 Tron Bonne) port, and some GTA and stuff.
The only bad thing I can say for the DS is that it has a bit of a learning curve. Looking at two screens doing very different things takes some getting used to. Personally, I think all the most interesting games are on the DS. You've got games that bring out the little girl in everyone (Nintendogs, Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon) and games that are actually pretty epic (Hotel Dusk, Trace Memory). There are games that are great to play with friends (Tetris DS, Advance Wars), and games that are just good time wasters (every puzzle game under the sun).

Obsessive? Me? Never!
Thanks guys!
Hey guys,
Thanks for the 360 recommendation as the console to get. You know, the 360 was already looking like the console for me with the exception of all those hardware issues I keep hearing about. If it had a reputation as a stable, reliable platform I would have gone with it immediately. So what's the go with the hardware problems now? Are the latest 360's still prone to them or has the failure rate decreased, and even if it has, is it acceptable (I hear failure rates quoted of 20% or more)? That's a big turn off for me regardless if they are replacing them (which I assume they are, can you confirm?).
Also, thank you so much for bringing to my attention Spandex Force. I love it! I started playing Puzzle Quest on the DS because you mentioned it in an earlier vlog so as soon as you said lovers of PQ would like SF I went and downloaded it.
I am so sorry to hear you suffer motion sickness from playing games because I DO TO! And I hate it! It basically rules out most 1st person shooters for me straight away. That whole looking up, down and around corners thing gets be every time. I get motion sickness when I fly but I found Dramamine (anti motion sickness medication) and it totally clears it up for me. I've always meant to experiment with taking some and then seeing if it cures my gaming motion sickness although even if it worked I'm not sure I want to pop a pill everytime I want to play a game, lol. Might bring a new meaning to the phrase 'gaming addict'. Anyway, it's a curse because I end up avoiding great games that I would otherwise play.
Fun, enjoyable vlog again this week. As always, looking forward to your next installment. :)
More retro blogs!
I demand more retro blogs! Okay, not demand, but plead strongly. I am interested to see something I'm interested in. Frankly, I'm not a fan of Nintendo and despise the Wii. I tried to play it but couldn't work the controllers. Turns out I actually twist and turn too much for the system and thus, it never registers the movement. Of course, I am also more of a fighting game fan, so that is another reason that the Wii is not for me. I was a Sega fan growing up and have a Game Gear (limited edition blue version, at that, but the 1 and 2 buttons don't work, so I can't play it anymore). Now I gravitate to Sony, if only for the sheer amount of games the Playstation 2 can play.
Actually, I would love to see a blog about classic games that should be remade or have sequels created. There are quite a few in this category, I'm sure, but I would have one suggestion in such a category: Project Nomad (Abandonia entry at http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/383). It's the only game that all my siblings and I can agree upon as far as its enjoyability. The funny thing is that I hate RPGs, though I love this game that is quite similar.
It would also be interesting to see a collaboration with After Elton's Angry Puppy. I know the four of you wouldn't be able to meet up to do a blog, but I suggest the next best thing: live webcam linkup.
Okay, I should stop telling you how to do your blogs, especially when I like them so much anyways.

Ummm Hey
I must say that I love your vlogs... I'm not a gamer, but most of my friends are, and I find this very informative!!
Of course, I can't help but to feel a wee guilty for not totally watching it for the info. Love the accent... *sigh* Something about a woman with a cute accent... *fans self*
Xbox not 360
Hi Ladies.
Love your blog. I laughed out loud when you showed the picture of you in LA.
I have an xbox console (I call it my retro Xbox to make it sound trendy and misdirect people to the fact that I can't afford a 360) currently in storage while I buckle down and finish my graduate course.
What games would you reccomend that I buy to celebrate when my course is over and I can get my console back? I really like RPG games like Fable, Price of Persia and I like shoot 'em ups like Halo. I'm not a fan of sports or car racing games.
Thanks
Gaymersss
omg this is awesome, I just tuned in cos I didn't know this was here on afterellen. I'm gonna start watching yall, I love playing video games.
I was gonna get an Xbox360 since I owned the orginal xbox and became a fan but the whole red circle of doom stuff scared me away from it and most of the people that I knew that had 360 were bitching all the time about that. So eventually I got a ps3 to play Oblivion because I'm an Elder Scrolls fan...and the quality looked better on ps3..I also wanted a blueray dvd player so I got 2 in 1 with ps3, plus being able to browse online on my tv is neat, dunno if 360 had that option?....if Fables 2 comes out I might have to get a xbox 360 too...
so I'm also wonderin with Zefbot here, is 360 still having hardware problems? when I was researching which system to get I kept getting mixed reviews about 360s hardware problems and no complaints about ps3, only that there isn't enough games.
Anyway, I'm totally loving these vblogs!
All wonderful Dreamcast games
[insert witty subject here]
It's too bad I'm only home on weekends, I always have to wait a few days before I get to watch your newest vlog. Oh well, it's better than nothing.
I loved the Dreamcast part, it's a great console. From the games you listed, I personally enjoyed The House of the Dead 2 the most (only because The Typing of the Dead wasn't mentioned :P). It doesn't beat SNES, though, which is my all-time favorite console, it has so many amazing games.
Spandex Force looks fun, I just downloaded the demo and will try it out tomorrow.
What else, what else? I suppose I said everything I've got to say.
It was great listening to you two, can't wait for the next time!
Crazy Taxi
as you brought it up I couldn't help but like freeze with amazement because as you said it I was playing on it :P [ I often listen to vlogs whilst playing games]. I also remember seeing it in an arcade in one of the Canarie Islands quite a few years back and also being amazed by it, and still find myself playing it from time to time :)
Great vlog again, I love how totally different your accents are, it keeps my attention :P
